  1. I use a 9ft 6wt for bass in my area. I can throw 1/0 streamers with no issue. Anything bigger than that I use the 8wt. Nothing like catching a 3-4lber on a 6wt. Lots of fun. As far as outfits go. My 6wt is a BPS Hobbs creek combo. Has a decent rod and a good reel. The downside to that combo is the line isn't the greatest. I upgraded to Orvis Clearwater WF floating line. It is a lot slicker and I can shoot line alot easier. Another option is the Reddington Crosswater combo's. Great rod and an okay reel but it comes prespooled with RIO Mainstreem fly line which is a decent line.
  2. I have the 7ft Medium casting and the 7'3 Heavy casting and I love them. 10 year warranty and their customer service is excellent. I use the Medium for squarebills and the Heavy for flip/pitchin and football jigs. All the Halo rods have a parabolic bend in them so they are great for reaction baits.
  3. Welcome Aboard!
  4. Yeah we are getting one in Cary, NC as well. Not sure when its supposed to be completed though.
  5. The fenwick eagle gt's are decent rods for the price if you don't want to spend alot. http://www.fenwickfishing.com/prod.php?k=309809&sk=309809&p=PUREGTT%2060M%20%20(1160886)
  6. Nice fish. Good job.
  7. For the soft swimbaits, I have had good success with the Zoom Swimming Super flukes.
  8. I prefer the evenings. I do catch in the mornings but I have caught most of the larger fish in the evenings.
  9. Yeah its been crazy how much rain we have gotten in the last month. Went to the local park this morning and this evening and caught 8 total. All where very small fish. All caught on soft plastics and finesse jigs. Good news is no rain for next week but highs in the mid 90's.
  10. In my area I would have to say c-rig. Another option would be deep cranks or maybe spoons.
  11. I have had great success with Berkley power worms in both 7 and 10inch. Can't say I have tried that color before though. I have had the best results with "motor oil" and "watermelon candy". My only complaint with them is that they are very soft and they tear very easily.
  12. I have tried the shime sticks as well as senkos, and to be honest I catch more on the original senko's. That's not to say the shim e sticks don't work but that is my experience with them. I mainly texas rig weightless with both. The bad part is the senkos are so soft that usually one fish per senko (sometimes 2). With that said though I don't through them away if the head is mangled, I put them in a bag and will use them wacky style. I have also tried the yum dingers as well with the same results.
  13. Welcome!
