  1. Hey everyone, I would like to use these two but fish in a lot of leadfree water. Anyone have any suggestions for leadfree options? Thanks.
  2. Hey everyone, Was wondering what people are using. I have heard frabil trout nets are good size for a kayak. Looking for some suggestions as it is a little difficult judging sizes online. Thank you.
  3. Thank you for all the responses. I think the consensus is under 7ft, and mf or mh depending on preference. What are your thoughts on mono vs copolymer for this? Big difference or no?
  4. Hey everyone, Had a quick question on a recommendation for a top water set up for cigar type baits and poppers. I currently have a frog setup and am looking for your thoughts on one for spooks/poppers. Action, length, baitcast/spinning, line type? Thank you.
  5. Thank you Sir for the clarification. I wasn't exactly sure what terminology to use to get my question asked. Thanks for the answers everyone. I appreciate it.
  6. Hey guys/gals, I like using Fluorocarbon and want to re-spool a few setups but don't want to break the bank. My questions is when using a cheap mono or co-polymer for backing, should I be paying attention to line diameter to tie the lines together or pound test, or neither? For example, if I have a T-Rig set up that I have 12# fluorocarbon top shot, should I match that up with a 12# backing or a line with similar diameter? Also any advice on what knot you folks use would be helpful as well. I have used a Modified Albright knot on a braid setup/co-poly setup and it seems to have worked well.
  7. Quick question, I have a Curado 200G7 that I want to use on my jig rod. Reading the line capacity suggestions on the box it says: Mono Line Capacity: 8/180, 10/155, 14/110. I was thinking about putting 15# Fluro on. Is that not recommended on this reel? If I wanted 15# Yo Zuri or Izorline for a t-rig setup instead is that not recommended either? Thanks.
  8. Seems like we have a lot of New Englanders on this thread. You guys also seem to be experienced jig fisherman as you have already made adjustments for non-lead. Any advice for me starting out this year with jigs regarding type? From what I read arky and brush jigs are fairly versatile. Maybe I should start with them? Thanks for all the into on this thread.
  9. Thank you for all your feedback. I appreciate it.
  10. A-Jay, that thing looks awesome! Thanks.
  11. Hey everyone, I want to get into jigs this year however my state passed a non-lead sinker/jig law. I was hoping to get some thoughts on what jigs folks are using that are in similar situations. I was thinking about reaching out to Siebert. Any advice on what head I should learn to use( arky, football, brush, etc) would help as well. I would like to get comfortable with 1 or 2 first. Thanks everyone.
  12. Is the Spring flyer for in store only or online as well?
  13. Thanks for all the feedback. My 6.5 has an IPT of 27 where as the 7.1 has 29. Thank you for the advice Avery. I think I am going to run with rippin-lips suggestions for setups and make sure the reels balance on the rods before I pick them. Thanks again guys.
  14. This year I would like to have 3 baitcast setups frog, jig, t-rig. If you had 3 reels one 6.5 and the other two were 7.1, what would you suggest for what application? I only have one rod so far which is a MH F. Thinking of getting another MH (t-rig or frog) and a H (jig)? Thank you for your help.
  15. Thanks guys. Would it make sense to line my lighting with mono and have it as a spinnerbait/top water? Kicker I was thinking Carbonlite. For jigs, I been watching a lot of videos (BassResource and such) and am intrigued by the football jig as well as some swim jigs. What type of jigs would you suggest for a MH/F Carbonlite 7?
  16. Ok so I want to add 2 new setups this year 1 jig and 1 frog. I am a recreational fisherman so I don't have some of the awesome setups I see on here but seek some advice. I currently have 3 setups. 2 Lightning Rods. 1 casting setup with 12lb YoZuri Hybrid MH. I used this for mostly plastics and tried numerous lures for learning the bait caster. 1 spinning with 8lb yozuri M. I used this for primarily Senkos and a few lighter lures. My 3rd rod which I setup for dropshot with Seagur Invix (spinning). That being said, I would like to try jigs and I fished a spot last year that has a lot of lily pads and I think it might be great for a frog setup. I was debating to go and get 2 BPS PQ combos for these. Any advice on rod/action, line, and how I could better utilize my current rods would be must appreciated. Thank you.
  17. FishinDaddy, I am in the Northeast and predominately fish lakes and small ponds (little to no deep water). I fish both from the boat and bank. Today I have 3 setups, 2 spinning, 1 casting. One of the spinning setups is a 7ft M rod with 8lb Seagur Invizx. I have used that for years for primarily throwing senkos wacky style but wanted to start trying other techniques. The other spinning setup I rigged last year is for for dropshot and liked it a lot. The casting rod is a 7ft MH with 12lb camo YoZuri Hybrid. Honestly, I pretty much threw everything to get used to it last year, t-rigs, spinnerbaits, other soft plastics, etc. I probably used my casting rod and dropshot rod 90% of the time. My senko rod was getting used the least. That being said, I am looking to get a new casting setup for this year. Based off what I have, there are probably only 5,000 different directions I can go so it should be an easy decision. Like I said in a previous post, I try to pick up something new each year to learn a new technique. I am probably most interested in using jigs (never have), topwater, or a frog set up. I usually try to keep each setup to around $200.
  18. Guys, This is great. Thank you for the feedback. Trying to learn a new technique every year. 2 years ago it was T-Rigs and Senkos wacky. Last year it was drop shot. This year maybe I try jigs/frogs. I'm sorta of a newbie at anything other than plastics. I probably should have started my post off with what should be my next setup? Sounds like maybe I should try a jig setup that can double as a frog setup as well. Was looking at the BPS combo sets. Anyone using these for what I am looking for?
  19. Thank you for the responses. I haven't done any cranking but would love to try some jigging. Would a frog jig rod make more sense?
  20. Hey everyone, I would like to get a top water specific set up this year for things like poppers, buzz baits, and maybe even frogs. Looking for suggestions on rod/reel/line. I have read a lot of people have specific setups just for frogs. I was hoping to cover a couple rigs with a single setup and would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks everyone.
  21. I was just nose hooking it with the hooking it with the hook unexposed. Not 100% it was the weight. I have been doing a lot of senko wacky style pretty much exclusively in this spot for years and never had an issue. Totally different style I know. I just wasn't sure if I should try and keep it off the bottom more?
  22. Hey guys, First time a casted a robo worm on a drop shot rig 4 weeks ago I caught a bass and thought wow what have I been missing. Since then I just keep getting hung up. The spots I am fishing have never been an issue as far as getting hung up in the past. It is a pretty clear lake with not much cover. I did just buy some small skinny weights versus the round weights I have been using but haven't tried them yet. The cause has to be my technique. Any suggestions?
  23. Hey Everyone, Looking for some assistance on a few rigs I am going to try and focus on this year. I am looking for sizing help on hooks/weights for the following setups: Super Fluke (weighted or weightless?) Texas Rig (thinking of doing this with a Roboworm but open to any suggestions) Drop Shot (again thinking Roboworm but open) Red hooks? Tungsten over lead? Thanks everyone
  24. Bratsdude thank you for your feedback. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks everyone.
