I think you and I should go fishing!

If I'm having troubles getting the bite sometimes I'll work it at a cadence and at a point where I feel a bass is eyeing the bait I'll stop it and let it sit. Sometimes for up to a minute. A lot of the time they can't resist it setting there. I'll also try various speed and cadence retrieves to see what triggers the bass.

Hit a local spot tonight for about an hour and a half. Caught 4 total, 3 on the top water frog and one on a Zoom Super Fluke. Missed 3 others on the frog. I was a little too fast on the hook set. These were the two largest. The biggest was 22", I'm guessing about 4lbs! Caught 5 nice ones near this spot on Sunday. Matzuno Frog - Bull Frog

I'm a long time user of Trilene XT. I like XL on my UL rigs.

I have six Lightning Rods, 3 - spinning, 3 - casting. They're great rods. I've been fishing with a Lightning Rod since the 80's. I upgrade as new models come out. I've never had one fail on me. I also like the BPS Tourney Special spinning rods. I think those run in the $50 range. The Lightning Rod is my main rod.

Just out of curiosity I hit up a Walmart near where I work. They had Gamakatsu hooks for $2 a package. Strike King senko type baits for $2 a package. I am well stocked for worm hooks now!
