  1. Hard to go wrong with a Lews!
  2. Call me old fashioned but my reels spooled with Trilene XT in green have always and continue to put fish in the boat for me! I tried the FC but didn't like the way it felt and performed at all. I do use braid on some reels and have no problem with that either. Keep the FC and I'm going to drive on with my XT.
  3. Nice fish! congrats!
  4. Beautiful place and with bass fishing to boot! Awesome!
  5. Excellent video. I need to get up to St. Clair to fish!!
  6. This time of year is no problem. You might have to scout out your spots a little harder but there are fish to be caught. I got this guy and two others on a frog and one on a fluke yesterday afternoon just before a storm rolled in.
  7. Incredible!
  8. Dayum!!!!!
  9. BOOM! Congrats!
  10. I feel your pain! Naproxen has become my friend.
  11. I have both and like them both very well. I realize that doesn't help you much.
  12. I generally bring 2 casting rods and two spinning rods with extra spools. You never know when you'll have a malfunction. Rod breaks, reel breaks and it's the only one that you have with you, your day is done. Lately I've been carrying two rods along with me, one for frogging and one for throwing senkos or flukes. Keeps me from having to re-rig a rod all of them time. To the OP, that's great looking cart. It would be excellent for fishing the piers on the big lakes!
  13. Went out tonight to continue my highly UN-scientific frog comparison. Tonight I threw the Booyah Pad Crasher in the Swamp Frog color and the Spro Bronze Eye Jr. in the Rainforest Black color. I found the Booyah Pad Crasher very easy to fish. It has good action and is fairly easy to walk the dog with it. I went 4 for 4 with the largest coming in at about 3lbs. The frog seems to be softer than the Spro and KVD frogs and the hook up percentage was 100%! Very impressive. On the Spro I went 0 for 1. The fish seem to just not be interested in this frog today. Next time out I'm going to test the Booyah against the KVD frog. I think he wanted it! Largest of the day.
  14. Try further north of A2 at the Metro Parks. Nice bass in the river up there. Also between A2 and Ypsi is pretty good.
  15. Any day that I am fishing is a good day!
  16. Never happened to me. Pretty cool though.
  17. Throw away reel? Do you actually own one?
  18. Mix and match. Shimano reels (casting and spinning), Lew's reels (casting only), All rods are Lightning Rods of various ages.
  19. I always thought it was ridiculous they took the nets away!
  20. I went out tonight to a spot that has been producing a steady frog bite with some quality fish. Tonight did not disappoint. This was a highly UN-scientific comparison, but it was fun! I fished for about 2 hours total, starting at ~7:30pm. First up was the KVD Sexy Frog in the Spring Frog color. I went 1 for 4 on this one bringing in a nice 2.5lb. large mouth. I noticed with this frog the ones I missed felt like short strikes. On the one I did catch he hit it well and was hooked right in the top of the mouth. With this frog I was using a 7' MH Lightning Rod Shock, Shimano Citica with 50lb. Power Pro braid. Second was the Spro Bronze Eye Jr. in the Rainforest Black color. I went 2 for 3 on this frog, Bringing in 2 fish both in the 2lb. range. The strikes on this frog were all aggressive. It seemed to hook the fish better than the KVD frog. With this frog I was using a 6'-6" M Lightning Rod (older model), Lew's Sped Spool with 14lb. Trilene XT green. I suspect the better hook rate with the Spro frog was due to the softer action rod with the mono. I'm still trying to discipline myself to wait on the hook set, especially when using braided line. The one fish I did bring in on the KVD frog I purposely waited on the hook set. I'll be the first to admit in the difficulty in waiting after seeing the fish boil on the bait! Both frogs had nice action and are very well built. Both have quality hooks in them and a drain hole for water. If the frog gets a little water logged just squeeze it, the water shoots out and you're good to go. I did trim the leg skirt material a 1/4" or so on the KVD frog as I felt it was a bit long. Next test I'll switch frogs on each rod and will be adding the Booyah Pad Crasher in the Swamp Frog color. Sorry, no pictures on this trip as I left it in the truck.....doh!
  21. 6" worm, texas rigged, Red bloodline, 3/16 oz. weight. I've literally caught 100's of bass on this bait.
