I fish mainly in the north, (Michigan, Ohio, Wis, etc.) I'm not big into swim baits so for those of you who fish up in the northern states which swim baits do you like to use for smallies and for largemouth? Please include size and favorite color. The bait monkey has been whispering in my eye to buy some swim baits!
One lure that I've never caught a bass on is a Pop-R. I've fished them on and off for many years. Nothing! I've caught fish on Tiny Torpedos, Zara Spooks, Baby Zara Spooks, Hulu Poppers, etc, etc. But the Pop-R......Nothing! Weird!
This will make an awesome combo for you.

Any love for the Ugly Stick on this forum? It seems like a good starter rod for a young teen just getting into bass fishing. Or is there something better out there?
3/8 oz. T1 Terminator Spinner bait, chart/blue/wht with double willow blades or the Zoom Super fluke in white ice or pearl. I've probably fished both equally as much this year.
An ultralight rod would not be my first choice for throwing TR'd plastics. The very lightest I'd suggest going is medium. Medium/heavy would be better. It's going to be tough to get a good hook set with a UL rod.
