  1. My favorite frog set up is Lews LFS Speed Spool on a MH Lightning Rod Shock with 65lb. P-Line braid. I've been using this rig for two years and it hasn't failed me!
  2. Hard to beat Big Game or XT!
  3. Looking at the St Croix site, I don't see a Bass X, are you talking about the Triumph X?
  4. Have never seen it?
  5. Watch Carl Kalonka on The Extreme Angler. He fishes mostly Canadian (Ontario) lakes, except for his crappie shows which are mostly done in the US. His bass fishing episodes are great. You can find full episodes of his show on YouTube. The Bass Resource YouTube channel has a lot of good stuff too!
  6. Link?
  7. I've not heard of the Dr. Pepper Horny Toad but, I do marinate my Horny Toads in some olive oil and chopped garlic!
  8. Awwww now, don't hate!
  9. Hello Fellow Michiganders! Been member here for a while. Thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. I'm mainly a bank fisherman. I've been fishing for bass most of my adult life. I fish mainly, Lake Erie and the Huron River, sometimes the River Raisin. I live in Monroe county. Im hoping to get out to lake St. Clare this year for some smallies.
  10. Towards sunset I always watch for any action from bait fish. Many times I'll see the bass start chasing shad. I'll usually start throwing a super fluke and manage to catch a few just before sunset. Obviously your pond may not be the same but my point is just keep an eye out for any unusual activity that you can take advantage of. Btw, I'm primarily a bank fisherman as well. Good luck.
  11. FWIW I always use a palomar knot with braid of any size. I've never had one fail yet.
  12. I have been using a Berkley Lightning Rod Shock for my frog rog for the past several years. I've put that thing through hell and it just keeps on ticking. I have a few more expensive rods now for my worm/jig rod, but I've used Lightning Rods since the early 90s and they have always performed well for me and my family. For a more expensive rod I've gone to the St. Croix Mojo Bass rods. IMHO there are quality, dependable rods available in just about any price range.
  13. That guy is a trip! (In a good way)
  14. I agree with what was stated above. It's hard to beat the original Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap. I also like the Cotton Cordell and the Rapala traps. I always throw mine on a medium action rod with 12 or 14lb. mono.
  15. Are you guys who reel them using a swivel at all?
  16. Straight braid! No need for any type of leader.
  17. Lews LFS Speed Spool or a Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier. Both excellent reels!
  18. I tried the Vanish, took off my reel after the second trip using. Hated it after the first trip but thought I'd give it another chance. I thought wrong..... I like the Red Label line a lot.
  19. Nice!
  20. Nice catch!
  21. Nice night indeed! How do you like that kayak?
  22. Well Glenn, since you asked for a candid response here goes, you could use a breath mint! Nothing personal!
