I fish all of the above on my Bass X MH F 7’-1” rod with 17lb. Flouro or my Carbonlite 2.0 MH F rod with 15lb. Flouro, depending on the cover. Both rods handle these baits well.
I was going through some of my old lire’s and ran across a box that was packed away a long time ago. In it Imfound about a dozen jars of Uncle Josh Pork Frogs in various sizes and colors. Some of the lids are rusted and I can see the rust has migrated down the bottle a bit on the inside.
I'd like to clean that up and add some new water to these. From what I can research the liquid is water and salt. I’m assuming that I can use some distilled water and salt dissolved before adding back into the jar.
is this correct?
Some of my personal favorites over the years, in no particular order:
Mann's Augertail Worm in electric grape! Use to love throwing that worm!
Spinnerbait (The Terminator T-1 was a long time favorite).
Berkley 7” Power Worm
Rebel Pop-R
Rebel Wee Frog and Wee Crawfish
Rage Bug
Rage Craw
Missile Baits D-Bomb
Hollow Body Frog!
Rapala Shad Rap
Rapala Original Floating Jerk Bait
Swim Jig
Buzz Toad
Cotton Cordell Red Fin
Rooster Tail Spinner
Beetle Spin
Blakemore Road Runner
I’m not going to throw the baby out with the bath water over it but, I just don’t like it, as I stated above.
At least with the electronics they have to interpret what they see and present the bait without the advantage on staring right at the fish.
Justin Kerr used this hand carved, custom Rat during the Bassmaster Classic. I’ve always been interested in these rat baits but, living here in the north I don’t know if they’re practical.
How many of you northern bass anglers throw a rat and catch fish?
A lot of good suggestions already mentioned. A new lire for me this year is the Berkley Bullet Pop in the 70 and 80 size. It’s producing very well for me thus far.
My favorite setups for worms and jigs are the following:
Shimano SLX DC 7.2:1 reel with a 7’-1” St. Croix Bass X MHF rod. 17lb. Flouro line.
Shimano SLX DC 6.3:1 reel with a 7’ Bass Pro Carbon Lite 2.0 MHF rod. 15lb. Fluoro line.
