  1. Fish in my picture was a similar story. Cast out toward a downed tree, I gave it a couple jerks and noticed a loop on my reel. I start pulling line off the spool until I get it, fix the loop, reeling in the slack, line goes taught, I pull up on the rod tip and my kayak starts turning on me. Sour gummy worms? I get those all the time when I go fishing, tried them once or twice on the hook, I had a hit once right on the surface but other than that nothing. Like you guys said, they fall apart quickly and if you touch them when they come out of the water your hands get slimy and sticky, really gross, I don't mind fish slime, or slime from real worms, washes off easy enough and doesn't get sticky when it dries up, sugar makes a mess. Caught a small bass on a self-tied fly, wasn't biting anything so I was throwing everything in my box at it. Caught blue gills on an empty gold hook when I was a kid.
  2. When I'm not sure where the vegetation is I often use a Yum dinger rigged wacky with either no weight or a very small bullet weight. From what I usually read I guess I fish it a bit faster than most do a wacky, but I reel slowly while constantly pulsing my tip at about a 0.75-1 second tempo to get a good flicking motion, I prefer using my more rigid rod so I can feel the bait bucking as I go. I cast and twitch it rapidly while it drops for several seconds then start reeling. It's great because the motion of the lure will typically flick off weeds and vegetation and will let you explore the depths as well as creating a lot of disturbance to draw the fish to it.
  3. Bought a pack of pit boss last year have yet to land a fish on them. I had some small blue crayfish, not sure brand. Was mid-late summer, hot day, we went up the river from the lake we usually fish and I was catching them in a deep hole on the blue crayfish, couldn't find more of the exact brand so I got the dark blue havocs. I've tried them as trailers as well.
  4. I was fishing one this weekend, black with red glitter. Had a small bullet weight on and was fishing it wacky style (with a circle hook) had a couple hits in one area so I switched to hook through the nose and landed a 16" large mouth.
  5. These were possibly my favorite soft bait and I'm starting to think they got discontinued, I've been looking everywhere and whenever I try to add to cart online they're out of stock or no longer available, only finding them from non US retailers and not really looking to drop $10 on shipping, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a bait very similar to these that are in production. http://www.chsmith.com.au/Products/Berkley-T-Tail-Minnow.html The Bronze Pearl are the ones that did the magic for me, they're a golden-bronze on top and silver on the bottom. Never had another lure worked with so much success, really saddens me that I can't find them. One day I was feeling lazy, I'd been bait fishing with nightcrawlers the previous day, I took my bait hook, I use a slim circle hook (not sure size) and threw my minnow on it and caught at least 3 fish on the same rig before having a pickerel cut my line.
