  1. What size jigs are you using? For worms, I'd go with 733. 735 is really stiff for casting plastics without decent weight.
  2. This question came up with a few buddies. Do pros really use the equipment they are sponsored by? Or are they using exactly what they are advertising. I play billiards and tennis competitively and there's a variation of what the pros advertise and what they actually use. In tennis, Nadal uses an older version of the racquet he advertises. The company just paints the older racquet to look like the newest one. In pool, some Pros use the butt end of a cue from the sponsor, but the shaft is made to a different spec or from an entirely different company. I'm wondering if fishing rod companies will color higher end blanks the same color as lower end rods for pros to use to help sell. Just curious.
  3. Dicks have the Crucials on clearance right now. I just picked up one for 55 after the survey coupon.
  4. For a good setup, I'd see if you can get the crucial deal from DSG and a sienna reel. The rod is going to be more important for the feel right now. I've pulled in 5-6 lbs bass with no issues on that reel.
  5. I'd go with the symetre for the X-ship. Look this up if you aren't familar with it. I wouldn't buy a new shimano reel without it.
  6. Don't ask the sales guys. Theres only two in there that know the fishing section. I picked one up 3 days ago for 79.99 in saugus. I had a $10 off coupon for doing the survey.
  7. Haha. Had the same idea. I just picked up a 6'-10" casting rod. Took it for a test drive right away. The cashier took my $10 survey coupon too. $79 for a crucial is awesome.
  8. I have a 7-2 MH and I live in boston. Let me know if you're interested. I'm going crucial hunting today. Thanks to OP for letting us know about the additional % off.
  9. Thanks for your input. I was actually able to get it for 100 after some negotiating. Can't wait to string it up.
  10. Hey guys, I have a chance to pick up a 2nd gen revo sx and veritas for cheap... About 150. Great condition. I don't need it and would probably end up selling for a spinning set up. How's the trade value for these? I'm more of a Shimano and have never used the revo. From the search and reviews on here, it's really up in the air and not user friendly set up. That's from the quick research I've gather. Thanks guys.
  11. I got Dicks Sporting Goods to price match and they let me use a 20% coupon. Picked up the Curado for 79 bucks and saved on gas. Def happy with my deal.
  12. The answer you received from the other site was complete sarcasm. 6'-10" thru 7'-2" MHF are the most versatile rods IMO. I have a 7-1 crucial that I fish just about everything with if I need to. The technique specific rods, I think is for educational purposes. Some techniques are better suited with certain rod specifications. About 90% of the members on this forum know the specs needed for each technique. The labeling is for people that do not know the difference between a ML and a MH rod. Cheers
  13. The length varies with the rod for me. I tie so that the knot just misses the spool. Just like what sirsnook have said, more reties.
  14. What color senko should I throw at it?
