  1. Hello All, I just wanted to see if there was anyone else living in Japan that wanted to share info on the lakes over here. Looking for access to launch Kayaks into Sagamiko and Tsukuiko. Maybe possibly the Sagami river as well. This what was pulled of Sagamiko last Friday. Brad
  2. Hello all, I have not seen any bass for sale since I have been in Japan LOL. Lake Kawakuchi is producing big bass and most of the Fuji lakes all produce huge bass. The problem with Biwako is that it is so big and extremly deep, very hard to pinpoint anything. I think Japan will produce the next world record bass again very soon. Would love to hit up South Africa for bass.
  3. IIoveanger, Don't know if you are still on here or not but I am living in Camp Zama not too far from you. I was wondering if you have info on bass fishing. I have hit Sagamiko so far and have figured out that just about any lake is a good bass lake. Are you military? I am looking at using kayaks next month to really hit them hard.
  4. Okay it has been awhile since I posted anything. We have been in Japan now since last Aug. and I have finally hit my first lake, Sagamiko. We rented a boat for the day and fished the inlets. The lake is super deep and the water temp is still pretty cold. Did not have any luck but one of the Japanese guys fishing caught a nice 7lb large mouth. I will be heading out in early May as I will be traveling for work. Looking to use Kayaks. We just have to find a place to launch. The lakes here don't have boat ramps like in the states and steep banks make it very hard to carry anything down to the water let alone get back up. To complicate things further parking is an issue as well. But huge bass are the norm for these lakes and that is what is driving me. On a non-bass related topic I did catch three of the ugliest looking catfish since I have been here. LOL.
  5. Still working on getting some contacts but I will post all the information and updates that I get to assist others coming here.
  6. Jk, I sent you a PM.
  7. Made it to Japan this week. Already scoped out some bass fishing spots. Rods and reels showed up on Friday along with all my plastics. I hope to get out this week. Will be giving updates throughout my time here.
  8. I have had great luck with pumpkin colored with a flash of chartreuse or a motor oil color with chartreuse. I found that the baby brush hogs work well in those types of waters. Texas rigged with about a 15 inch fluorocarbon leader using a number 4 Gamakatsu worm hook. I fish a spot similar to yours that holds 5-6 pound bass and Senkos and brush hogs always produce. Good luck!
  9. Ha that is what I was thinking...
  10. Hey Everyone, Wanted to get some feedback from people in the Lake of The Ozarks area about bowfishing. Anyone having any luck? What rigs are people using? I found out that the impoundments on Fort Leonard Wood are off limits to bowfishing and that is ashame because there are some hogs rolling around in the ponds and lakes. Been seeing some nice gar on the Big Piney. Thanks, Brad
  11. How about a 19 inch Brown Trout while fishing for small mouth! Two weeks ago on the Niangua River by Bennet Springs MO I was throwing a six inch chartreuse finesse worm for small mouth and he hit it. That was the weirdest catch to date.
  12. Clay Dyer, very inspirational amazing guy.
  13. Those bronze backs will give you a workout! Awesome looking day.
  14. Just saw Clay Dyer as our keynote speaker for the Fishing For Freedom event in Qunicy IL. Super guy!
  15. Hello Everyone! I am heading over to Japan this summer with my family and will be stationed at Camp Zama. I have looked at past threads and can't seem to find any info that is very current. Does anyone have any contacts around the Camp Zama area that I can link up with for Bass Fishing or even just contacts in general? I am not above jumping on a train and riding it for four or five hours just to fish! This is my dream assignment and want to start making contact with people now so my daughter and I can the ground running! Any and all advice will welcomed. I am looking to make the most out of the next three years over there. Thanks for reading, Brad
