  1. Thanks for the help guys looks like ill be returning this 80lb test to get some 20lb or 30lb line. I have 130 yards of 30lb braid in my tackle box but that would be too little to put on my reel right? I would need more yards so it will cast the right way?
  2. Just got it today. What kind of line are you guys using on it? I have the 6000d I have 300 yards of power line 80lb but I think it's too thick to put on my reel.
  3. I just got a shimano tekota for live lining but I'm thinking of returning it to get a shimano Baitrunner. Do you guys this the Baitrunner will serve me better?
  4. I'm using it to live line because I feel it's easier to do that with this type of reel. I have spinning reels also but what's wrong with it for bass fishing?
  5. So I just got a Shimano Tekota a couple days ago because a forum member suggested it but I have a question about it. When I open it up to let line out, it won't switch gears over to lock mode when I turn the handle to reel in. It will only switch when I turn the lever switch. Is this supposed to be like this? My last reel like this one automatically did it I'm just curiouse if in the higher end models they don't do this?
  6. Is this reel any good. There is one at my local baitshop for 220. I will be using it for saltwater, basically just live lining herring and using dead bait with a 3oz weight. Will this reel serve me well or should I be looking at something else?
  7. Ok, so I basically only fish for Stripped bass off a dock in Boston harbor. I use live herring for bait (around 3 inches long). I was using a baitcasting reel from walmart that recently broke but I like that style of reel better than the traditional spinning reel. Right now I'm looking into the Shimano Calcutta TE 400 and want to buy it. How is that reel and would it be good for my type of fishing? Aside from live-lining herring I occasionally bottom fish with deadbait with a 3 ounce weight. Is it worth the $200 or can I get a better reel for around that price? Thanks for the help!
