I have a 6'6" medium casting. What kind of cranks? I have only shallow cranks but haven't used it yet. Probably tomorrow. If I do I'll let you know unless you are looking for something else?
I do almost the same exact thing. Only thing different is i put the trigger between my middle and ring finger when palming the reel. I am still trying to figure out how to hold it being its my first baitcaster.
When i fished at night i used:
- Black Spinnerbait with single Colorado blade
- Black Jitterbug
- Black Hula Popper
- Senkos (Junebug or watermelon color)
I probably caught the most fish at night with the senkos followed by the spinnerbait.
I used to store all my Senkos, Tubes, Flukes in a plano box and never had any problems. Now i prefer to keep all my plastics in the original packages because I am always changing things in and out of my backpack.
When i get skunked i break my pole over my knee like Bo Jackson used to do with baseball bats. Then I hang my lures in the tree in the form of a wind chime. Just kidding, but I do let the bass know that its not over, and I will be back.....probably tomorrow around 5am give or take.
I wasnt specifically fishing for smallmouths at the time, but at night they would always hit a black spinnerbait with a single Colorado blade. If I remember correctly, they also hit a Senko or two using the Junebug or watermelon color.
Definitely Dawn. Here in Vegas, during Dusk, its still can be very hot. I like getting there early and like to pick the areas I fish before anyone gets there. Waking up at 4am, getting to the pond by 5am makes me feel like I already accomplished something. Waking up is half the battle.
I have used Spinning reels my whole life and just recently switched to my first baitcaster and I like it a lot. Its much more intimidating than it really is. I am still learning but i know I will get better with time and practice. I was really timid the first time using it but by the end of the day i was much more comfortable that i expected to be. For now, the advantage that my spinning reel has over my baitcaster is that i can hit areas that I can only cast straight forward. I can only side cast with my baitcaster. I think one of the reasons I finally decided to start using it is because they are now available in left handed retrieve models which is what I am much more comfortable with.
Haha same here. I bought 2 of the Rebels and it was horrible. The BPS square cranks are better than the rebels but not even close to the KVD in my opinion. The KVDs are like are like Barry Sanders zigging and zagging, the BPS cranks is like a drunk guy running from the cops. The Rebels are like a blind drunk guy running from the cops.
I also had a question. When you guys are done with the scented plastic for whatever reason, do you put it back in the original packaging and reapply the next time or you keep it separate so you know which one already has the scent on it?
