I had the 6’10” Medium Heavy/Fast casting rod. Liked it at first, but then one day I used it for couple hours (only rod I brought) and ended up changing my mind. My hand was in pain and just didn’t like the overall feel. Ended up selling it as I mainly use my ALX IKOS Rods and love them.
How is the sizing for the Magellan shirts?
I usually wear a Large or X-Large depending on the shirt (regular shirts) but with the Columbia PFG long sleeve shirts, I wear a medium. I also have T-Rex arms.
Costa’s green mirror in 580 is copper based. Not sure about the 400. Straight from Costa’s website.
I forgot to mention that I own 3 different types of polarized glasses for fishing. I would rank them in this order:
Costa Blackfin Green Mirror 580p (Copper) $120
Wiley X Twisted Emerald Mirror (Amber) $80
Nines Optics Havasu Green Mirror (Amber) $60
I bank fish ponds with tons of trees around. I make it work with a 7’ rod but when I use 6’6”, it makes things much easier.
So if the 6’6” is going to allow you to get in specific areas, go for it.
I love my Fuego 2500 XH. Awesome reel especially for the price. I owned several Shimano’s in the under $100 price range and by prefer the Fuego by far.
I fish from the bank and when I take 3 rods, they are the exact powers you are considering:
MH fast casting
M fast casting
M fast spinning
For me, these rods are versatile and covers a variety of techniques.
Being that you want to drop shot, you could substitute the Medium spinning for a medium light.
I was sick of the Plano dividers being curved all the time. Got some Flambeaus and like it much more. Would prefer the latches Plano pro models but never had a problem with the Flambeau latches yet.
