I just purchased the Gamamkatsu backpack and it’s the probably my favorite so far. Extremely well made. I have probably gone through at least 10 backpacks looking for one that fits my specific needs.
Besides the Gamakatsu, here are some other suggestions that have not been mentioned. Just in case other people may be looking for a backpack. Some are advertised as fishing backpacks some are not...
- Samurai Tactical Fishing backpack
- Samurai Tactical Hanzo
- Samurai Tactical Wakizashi
- SOG Ninja Tactical daypack
- Spyderwire Fishing backpack
- High Sierra backpacks
- Ugly Stik tackle backpack
- Red Gill backpack
- Flambeau Portage backpack
- Tackle Warehouse Angler backpack
- Plano E Series
I used to have a lot of success in multiple ponds with the KVD 1.0. For me lipless cranks are way more versatile though. I use tons of different brands and only get snagged occasionally.
Out of curiosity, what lipless cranks are you throwing that cost $10-$15?
I own a couple Tatula SVs and love them. Most I have paid for one brand new is $150. I also have couple of the Tatula CTs and it’s a great real and can be found in the $90 range.
If I’m using it on a chatterbait, I like the 3.8. If I’m fishing it on a jighead or underspin, I like the 3.3. If I had to keep it simple and wanted to choose 2 colors, I would get a green pumpkin and a shad color (rainbow shad, crystal shad or electric shad).
I have both and they are phenomenal reels, especially if you can get them at a cheaper price. They both feel the same way in my hand as well. I have tried multiple different reels from friends and the CT and SV felt the best in my hands.
The 704 (7’ Heavy/Fast) for sure. It’s more like a Medium Heavy.
I love my ALX rods, but for anything under $150, I would go with the Dobyns Furys.
I have a friend that recently purchased his first casting rod which was the 703. He loves it. I just sold him my 704 and my 703 spinning rod. With those 3 rods, he has everything covered for the way that he fishes.
Tackle HD has a 5” Hellgrammite. It looks more like a centipede than the smaller ones. It definitely works as I have caught fish on it, but it’s only downside is that it’s not very durable.
I have Tatula SVs and CTs and love them. I tried a friends Curado K and didn’t care for it. The 2020 SV should be coming out in a few months from what I have heard.
I love my ALX Ikos rods. I have 5 of them including the Soul which is the 7th medium fast spinning rod.
I have owned Furys, Tatulas, and St Croix Premiers and prefer the ALX by far. I have tried a few different Mojos and didn’t care for it at all.
Anyone have experience with rod wraps? I looked up a few and most of them had horrible reviews. Common theme is they fall apart quickly.
I am looking for something that can hold 3-5 rods together while it’s in the back of my truck.
Any recommendations? Thanks.
I have 5 ALK Ikos rods and love them. I have no experience with the Sierras but do have 5 Fury rods.
I highly recommend the Ikos and have zero complaints. These are the models I have:
Shake
Soul
Buzz
Promise 7
Hammer 7
If I only had these 5 rods for the rest of my life I would be happy, but then again I’m only a weekend warrior.
