  1. JPB You are a lifesaver. I am so glad you posted and linked to that page. Thank you guys for the replies, I figured the "goodies" wouldn't come for a bit but wasn't sure. Also SAM: Good post/warning, that is such a useful bit of information to know. Thanks again guys!
  2. Hello everyone Tom here, I have a bit of a question when it comes to my BASS Membership/Bassmaster magazine subscription. I have recieved my first issue of the magazine, but none of the other offers which were offered (eg the tackle bag/DVD/Membership ID card). My question is has this happened to anyone else? I contacted Bassmaster directly and got legitimately no help. I kid you not the email said that they would contact me later with help. A day later I recieved another email saying that I had "called in" and the issue had already been resolved, but I never contacted them via phone, only email. So I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place because I want to access the Digital Bassmaster but have no membership number and what not. IF anyone else has experienced this, or they recieved their "goodies" after recieving the magazine please let me know. I'm a bit worried that I'll never get this resolved and would appreciate any help possible. Thanks, Tom
  3. THIS is exactly why I make my own soft plastics. I take and combine all the things I like about different lures/brands into one! I think the confidence factor has a huge effect on fishing. At least for myself, when I have a strong confidence in one of my handmade baits it makes all the difference in catching a fish.
  4. Well you always hear about pattern's when it comes to fishing for bass. How about for fishing for Northern Pike? (Rhetorical Question) Heres a new pattern I've discovered to catch 0 Bass, but hook (not land) astronomical numbers of Pike. 1.) Start the day jolly with a smile on your face. 2.) Walk to your favorite shore fishing spot. 3.) Tie on a Wiggle Wart without a leader, cuz you're fishing for bass anyway 4.) Hook a monsterous pike, fight it until it's within arms reach. 5.) Pike bites through un-leadered line 6.) Loose wiggle wart Being the intelligent creatures we humans are, we learn from this. So I tie on a steel leader wire for Wiggle Wart #2 just to be safe. Repeat steps 1-4 New step 5.) Pike bites line past leader wire, once again stealing wiggle wart. For the record I've caught bass on this lake numerous times with Wiggle Wart color 108 (Chrome with orange top). So, again being an intelligent homosapien I learned from this experience. I made a longer leader and tied on a 5 of diamonds spoon, then: Catch a bass Has a toothy creature ever invaded anyone elses personal space like me today?
  5. All I do is shore-fishing and whenever I have my rod in hand (fishing rod ) I have a pair of 6" Craftsman needle nose pliers (the ones with long handles and short plier teeth) and a pair of micro flush cutters. I've found that the flush cutters work for cutting any type of line (except steel leaders) and the pliers work for everything else.
  6. I mean I was somewhat stupid posting the brands because I was looking more for the techniques/uses of the power/action ratings. I've played with the falcons and compared with various other manufactures seeing as there is no "industry standard" for power/action ratings. The next closest ones were Wright & McGill "Skeet Reese" rods, and then the Gander Mountain Guide Series rods. With regards to the line, I am almost exclusive in using P-Line Fluoroclear co-polymer. I love that line and use 12# test for a lot of applications. Now that brings up another question, after I do purchase this second rod I'm gonna be using the co-polymer on it and I'd like to put braid on the Heavy action rod that I already have. does anyone have any recommendations for a braid to put on a baitcasting reel that would be a good braid to start off with? I've never used braid on a BC reel before and heard the backlashes can be horrific....
  7. The spinning rods must be different by a bit then. I'm currently throwing a H/MF and the backbone seems to run all the way up about 2/3 of the rod. That's why I'm looking at the other two different rods. I'm gonna be throwing lighter weighted T-rigs and even weightless senko's/flukes and the H rod is just too stiff. Thanks for the reply scrogg I appreciate it.
  8. Ciao everyone! Alright let me get straight to the point. I will be purchasing a new stick, of which comes from 2 choices. What I would like to know is personal experiences with these types of rods. Now let me clarify, The brand is not of my question, it is the action and power of the two. What I want to know is of these two rods, what are your personal experiences and uses for each action/power. What do you usually throw on it, what techniques do you use for it, and finally an overall opinion on which one would be more preferred as a general "All Purpose Rod". I will be putting a Quantum EXOpt 100 Baitcasting reel on this rod if it's any consolation. Now I plan to primarily throw soft plastics from this rod, albiet Flukes, Texas rigged worms, and Texas rigged "sweet beavers" (technically they are my own beaver style bait) Please include any opinions or tips you may have for these. Option 1 Falcon BuCoo Mirco 7' Medium Action/ Medium Power Line rating: 8 - 17 lb Lure weight rating: 1/4 - 1/2 oz Option 2 Falcon BuCoo Micro 7' Medium Fast Action/ Medium Heavy Power Line rating: 12-20 lb Lure weight rating: 1/4 - 3/4 oz Again please do give opinions of what the action/power ratings are best suited for lure and technique wise. Thanks, Tom
  9. Good afternoon everyone! (well those in the Eastern Time zone at least) hehe. My name is Thomas and I'm 19 going on 20 this year! and I've been fishing since I could speak my own name. I credit my grandfather for that lol. I fish in the greater south-eastern Michigan area. Anywhere from the many inland lakes to southern Lake Huron to Lake St. Clair to the Detroit River. Since getting into Bass fishing I've really targeted the smaller inland lakes because I can walk the shoreline of them. I hope that I can gain some useful knowledge (well more for that matter) from the website. I give a great thanks to Mr. Glenn May for turning me onto BassResource.com through his videos. Honestly theres not a better source of information that I've been able to find. Hell, I never fished a fluke before I electronically met Mr. May, and yet, today my PB bass was caught on one! You'll likely catch me in the Tacklemaking forums, and the Rod/Reel Forums. PS Fun fact I pour my own soft plastics and in all honesty I think it's one of the best ways to get serious about bass fishing because not only do I not pay for soft plastic lures, When I catch a fish on them it makes all that much of a difference because I made that lure. Thanks for your time guys! I'll direct you to the Rod and Reel forum because I'm about to post a question there and hopefully can get as many wise and informative replies as is possible. Thanks again, Tom
