  1. Does anyone know anything about this lure? I had one given to me recently and it's never been tied to a line. I believe it is the sinking version, but not positive. I've looked online and these appear to be discontinued, but I can't even find any for sale to see if it's worth anything. I can't lie though...I'm really thinking about trying it on some reds this weekend. It's a great looking bait. If anybody has any info or thoughts on, please let me know. Thanks!
  2. I personally like braid when throwing any topwaters, whether it has trebles or not. I may use mono once in a while with buzz baits, or just out of convenience, but with walking baits I seem to be able to get the best action out of them with braid. Some of those topwaters may be a little light for the heavier rod set up, so I think your best bet would be to change the line on the cranking rig. I've used the Pline copolymer before too, and like it pretty good with cranks. Never tried it with topwaters before, but the price is reasonable, so I would def try it and see what you think.
  3. Rod and reel set ups look good. I think the topwater/crankbait combo is probably the only one you need to look at. First, I noticed the reel has a low gear ratio, which can be really good for cranks, but from what little experience I have, a faster reel is better for topwaters, but that is just my opinion. The other thing you'll want to look at is the line you're using on that combo. If you're using fluoro for cranks, you're not going to get optimum action out of the topwaters, since the fluoro sinks, instead of floating like braid and even mono to a point. Other than those two things, I think the setups are spot on.
  4. I'm going to be moving from Alabama to the Jacksonville, FL area, close to the St. Johns river in the next few months. I own a little boat, but being close to saltwater, I'm wanting to upgrade to a bigger boat that I can fish in both salt and freshwater. I've done some research and really like the Triton TX series, that has the stainless trim and hardware and non skid surface instead of carpet. I dont' have the budget for a new boat and I'm having some difficulty finding a used 'bass and bay' boat. Any ideas on boats and/or where to look? I've been all over craigslist and boattrader.com but still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
  5. Hey ya'll...new member here. My wife, daughter, and myself are going to be moving to Jacksonville in the next few months for my job. I am not very familar at all with that area, but am a HUGE bass fisherman. I am looking to rent something in the beginning, and am hoping to find something on the St. Johns River, or some sort of bass fishing water, within 45 minutes from dowtown. Does anybody have any knowledge of how and where to start looking? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
