  8. OK thanks.. Another question for you then.. How many cranking amps should my battery be? I've had a 500 cranking amp battery for 6 years but recently noticed my dad's is a 1000 and he only has a 50 ho motor.
  9. So I haven't fished big Sam in about a year or so but it was during the spawn and what I found was odd to me. Hopefully some of you can explain. Everybody was catching off of beds but I only found about a dozen myself. How deep do they normally bed because I was looking intently and just was not seeing many of them? I did pick up a six ponder but I was expecting to see lots of beds from the reports I was getting and just couldn't locate.
  10. Anybody ever hunt with Indian Creek Outfitters in Kansas? I've already booked my hunt with them just wondering if anybody has already been there that can give some insight of what to expect. I'm gambling but I've gotta try for a Kansas monster.
  11. Hey guys. Finally made it up to the big pond this past weekend. I was only able to fish in Indian Creek due to the lack of confidence in my boat.. When trying to start my motor it would click several times before starting.. Anyway I'll have to look into that. But the fishing was pretty good. The mornings were slow but by the evening they would turn on. No Lunkers this time but several 2 1/2 to 3 ponders. I had the most success fishing 8-10 fow. Any ideas on my motor? It's an 06 Yamaha 200hp hpdi. Thanks and God Bless
  12. I made it back to T.B. this weekend and was able to fish most of the day sat. The weather was mostly great and i had a blast fishing around Texas island. The only thing that could have been better is if my jig managed to get bit. I pictched all day and only caught two bass! I probable should have tried something different but could not put it down. I just kept thinking the next pitch she was going to enhale it. No such luck. Also congrats ***atic! Thats the stringer i dream about. Anyway, im back to work and the drawing board.
  13. If you are going to be near the South End of TB I've seen people catching them in Indian Creek near the 255 bridge. I've spotted them on the end of Buzzard Point, also in Indian Creek. I would use little beatle spins on light tackle but a good ol box of night crawlers never fails on bluegill. Good luck and if you find em pick up a 1/2 oz jig when she gets her fill on the perch, might just find a bucket mouth hanging around.
  14. Hey guys... i made it up to the Big Pond this past Wednesday and while i mostly worked on the camp, i did get in two hours on the water. My first few spots were a bust but the moss sure did look good... Then i got smart and pulled out my i phone and after about 5 min of reading updates from Catt and the rest of you guys i decided to fish a little deeper. in about 20 min i landed three bass from 4lbs to 4 1/2lbs! I was fishing by ski cove on the south end of the lake on a nice ledge that drops from 10 to 30 then from 30 to 50 fow with a few laydowns across it. I was tossing a 3/4oz jig. Two picked it up after i popped it a few times on a log and the other grabbed it on the fall. Best of luck to yall and please get with me if anybody needs a boat seat out on the water.
  15. Hey guys I'm at Indian Creek thinking about doing some nite fishing. Anybody wanna tag along? I fished hard this afternoon without much luck.. my wife caught a nice one though on big bites version of a fluke.

  17. Ok thanks ***atic and good luck at McDonalds Tourney.
  18. Fishing Big Bass tournament on Sam Rayburn with my dad. I was 9 and the wind was terrible, it was freezing cold and there were two big bass boats sunk at the ramp! We fished as close to the weigh in as possible and dad caught a money fish. It was a great day I'll never forget. My first tourney as an adult was again on Big Sam and it was the most beautiful sunrise I've ever seen. A man said a prayer over the loud speaker before we headed out and it was moving to say the least. I did not draw a check but I left with a love for the sport and a few new friends.
  19. Jeff Kriet. He is a true sportsman and one of the best in the world a catching deep bass. I actually might get to one day because I just married his cousin! Gotta meet him first though..
  20. Thanks for the encouragement.. I'll take your advise and keep casting. Let's say I find a creek bend with fish on it.. how do you recommended boat position? Should I anchor or troll, and do you drop your marker bouy right on the fish or beyond casting distance to keep from snagging it? And congrats on your resent tourney win!
