  1. First thing to remember is you get what you pay for in most instances. When it comes scope mounting options, there are a ton to consider. Most of the real expensive ones are a one piece mount and rings that are gun specific, this is what I have on all of my guns. They are lighter and way more secure then a separate mount and rings setup, but are way more expensive generally over $100. You can pick up a mount and rings for about half of that or less, also you didn't metion what kind of gun this was going on. If this is for a 357 or a 44 mag or any other hand cannon I would suggest to go with a one piece setup, but if it's going on a 22 plinker with little or no recoil cheap will do the job just as good. ETA: Primary Arms has some decent stuff, but it's all Chinese made. I try and keep all of my guns and their accessories US made. I would look at the Leupold options as they are an American company and their customer service is second to none.
  2. To be honest once I heard how they stole the bait ball idea from some little guy and mass produced it. I haven't and will not buy any live target products. With it being so many other great bait companies, I don't even look at their stuff at all. These guys are just one more example of how the little guys gets crapped on...
  3. I have the 110 FX which are suspending, I guess I should've mentioned that.
  4. I knew this question would come up, I used cold tap water. Which where I live is anywhere between 50 and 60 degrees. I would estimate around 50ish or so, probably not to awfully far off of the water temps I'll most likely be fishing them in.
  5. Well last night I decided to fill up a 5 gallon bucket with cold tap water, and check out how my baits suspended. The first one I tryed was a Staysee 90 and I was surprised to see that it floated up pretty quick, so I tryed to add a splitring to the front set of hooks which caused it to slow sink. So then I removed the splitring and put a Norman speed lip on the line tie which also caused it to slow sink. Now my main question is if I'm using 10# flouro will that be enough to keep the bait suspended? Out of all the baits I tryed only the vision 110s truely suspended. The other baits that I tried were 100 pointer minnows, slender pointer, xraps, squad minnow and a few different KVD SKs. All with the same results, thanks in advance for the help...
  6. Just as the title states, what line are you guys using for jerk bait fishing and why? I'm setting up a rod for that purpose and I'm undecided on what line I want. I leaning towards 10# Invisix because it sinks and will help with getting baits down and staying there. I'd like to hear some opinions befor I dump $25 on a spool of line, thanks in advance for the replies...
  7. I don't own one, but have seen them and they do look cool. If I was going to use one I think I would work it more like a jig then a crank. I think if you let it sink, then give it a little snap and then let it sink again and sit for a couple seconds and then maybe two quick snaps, would work better then a straight retrieve. I would try and make it look like a real crayfish, the only time you see a crayfish swimming is when it's fleeing a predator. If a bass catches it hopping up off the bottom and watches it float back down to the bottom it will come check it out, and most likely take it since it looks so freaking real.
  8. Yea I guess I got lucky and and got jackalled off, LOL!!!
  9. Thanks for all of the replies. It looks like I'm just gonna throw this reel in a closet to pass on to a young fisherman, and just buy a new one. It looks like if I can even get the gears they're gonna cost around $30, and this feel isn't worth dumping half the cost of the reel.
  10. I have had a pair of these for about 4 years now and they get we almost every trip, and not a spot of rust. http://m.basspro.com/Browning-Fishing-7-Aluminum-Pliers/product/1212041152/
  11. It's about a year or two old. It's the ugly orange and black one. I'd love to just replace it, but I'd rather put the cash towards tackle. I've have looked around on Google but haven't really found to much
  12. Yea I was kinda thinking that, but I was hoping to pick some up somewhere. If I can't pick some up somewhere I'll just end up sell this one, and buying something new.
  13. Ok guys I need some help, I have a Daiwa Aird winch that I want to change to a 6.3:1 or somewhere there close. My question is where is the best place to get these from. I've taken apart and cleaned all of my feels, but I've never changed gear ratio, so I don't even have a clue as to where to get the gears. Any help and input would be highly appreciated.
  14. Does anyone here cross liberty reservoir daily? I was just wondering what the ice situation looked like, thanks for any help anyone can give...
  15. I have 2 -12 volt 55 lb motors and I take 2 12 volt batteries for each motor, Im changing batteries after 2.5 hours. If I change to a 6 volt system, I'll need 2-6s per motor. Which is still 4 batteries total in the rear of my boat, and I'll get 6.5 hours run time. If I stay with a 12 volt system I would need to take 6-12s to get the same run time,!thats 3 per motor with 2 swaps.
  16. We have a breeding population of hybrids that was originally stocked back in the early 80s in the reservoir that I primarily fish. The main reason for the great success with them here is that the reservoir is between 150 and 185 feet deep which means it stays cold all year down there. By this time they are most likely getting ready to leave the dam area and heading off to the flats at the other end of the reservoir, where they'll spawn and then work their way down through the old river channel that runs through the bottomof the reservoir. By the first of June they've usually already spawned and are heading back down to the dam where they'll spend the summer months. The guys here catch some white perch on their way to where the hybrids happen to be at, and then they live line with heavy salt water gear. Some of the of the hybrids here are in the 50 to 60 pound range, and some are believed to be way bigger. There's a dedicated crew of guys here that only fish for the hybrids, but they're a real hush hush type of crew let me tell you...
  17. Take off the skirt and put a money minnow on there, this is a killer with a chatterbait also .
  18. I have a St Croix Mojo and I like it a lot, as far as sensitivity. When I'm running a spinnerbait, I can actually feel when the blades stop turning as the fish is biting the bait. I'm don't know how much more sensitive it could be, or why would it need be since your using it for spinnerbaits and such.
  19. Also this boat is set up just the couple reservoirs that I fish with it. Here in MD if we use our boats in the reservoirs here we have to sign stating that the boats will be in no other bodies of water due to them d**n zebra mussells
  20. My reasoning for doing this is for me to get wher I'd like to go in the reservoir that I primarily fish I'd need to add 2 more to my already 4 so that would make 6-12s that Id be carrying. If I can double the run time just by switching over to 6s plus stay with 4 batteries instead of 6-12s that would be awesome. I'm running a 18' extra wide Jon boat with home built decks so the boat is heavy and eats batteries while we're traveling. Like I said when I'm fishing Im running the bow mount, and they last all day.
  21. https://m.interstatebatteries.com/product/2147384911-4195161613-4195237385-4195237384-2147384722-2147384898-4195161580-4195161608-4195161578-4196125068-4196125103-2147384903/GC2-XHD-UTL I have a friend that owns an auto parts store and will give them to me at cost since I take him fishing, so the price should be better then that Two batteries in parellel will double the amps and could possibly catch fire, running them in series doubles volts so you would have the 12 that you need. The extra run time comes from the 6 volt battery, check out the amp hour rating versus the 12.
