  1. St Croix Avid all the way. if you need a reason check out bluebassers post about their customer service...
  2. It wasn't long ago that the alconite insert fell out of the tip top of my Avid cranking rod, I called St Croix and told them what happened. The told me to send the rod back and they'll fix It no problem, I then asked if they could just send the tiptop to me and I would replace it. I wanted to do it like this so I wouldn't be without my rod for a few weeks, well not only did they send me a new tiptop. They sent me four tiptops enough glue for probably 10 tiptops and they shipped it two day so I could have it fixed by the weekend. I'm definitely a St Croix fan for sure, so much so I just went and picked up a new ultralight rod this past weekend and it was a StCroix Premier.
  3. That's why I use their rods...
  4. Its happening right now where I fish, yesterday was my worst outing all year.
  5. I still use an old 16ga single shot shotgun to hunt with a few times every year. It was giving to me by a lifelong friends grandfather, so every year I hunt with it just so pop Hagner can still hunt. Even though hes not with us in the physical form anymore. I also have a friend that to this day uses an old shotgun with a smooth bore and a bead sight, hell he only wears jeans and a plaid jacket and he kills monster deer every year. Its great to see him roll up the daily lunch spot with a hammer buck in his truck while looking like a hillbilly while all the other guys have every thing known to man to hunt with but are at the lunch spot with not even a deer sighting.
  6. I fish them anywhere, at least the ones that dont dive so deep as I can get them if they get snagged. The Gantrel for example only dives 3' so if it does get snagged it pretty easy to get back with a telescoping lure retriever.
  7. Looks to awesome to tell you the truth, I cant wait to toss it out there,,
  8. I'm sure if a bass can get in his or her mouth they'll eat it.
  9. You can believe this one, as I know this guy...
  10. Here's another one, not the same fish or snake this is a guy on a MD hunting site:
  11. I saw probably the same pic you did, it's definitely not a copperhead in the pic I saw. They were claiming it was though, but it looked more like a garter snakes head to me. But I guess it could be possible, I'll try an attach the pic I saw...
  12. I have a Road King and theres two bikes Id like to park beside it, one is a custom bobber and the other is a Ducati 1200R in black
  13. jbanard and Raul hit the nail on the head, its definitely not photoshopped.
  14. I love chasing toms I could do it instead of deer hunt. I love it so much I make my own custom double sided pot calls, Here are a few:
  15. First off I DIDNOT catch this, its something from another site. But wow check this thing out:
  16. War Eagle for the win!!!
  17. I bought a Booyah spinnerbait one time, and I had the same issue. I havent even looked anything Booyah since, its way too many bait companies out there who put out quality stuff to mess around with junk IMHO...
  18. My brother is the best at breaking rods, but he does it with his trunk lid. Probably ten rods have fell victim to my brothers trunk lid, you'd think after the first he would've learned his lesson...
  19. I was in your same boat and I picked up a St Croix Mojo drop shot rod and a Shimano Sedona spinner, combined they were around $160. I will say its a nice rig, I dont have any complaints yet. I rigged it with 6lb DIAMETER braid and I use a 6lb mono leader, I haven't lost a fish yet. also with using the braid if you get the hook snagged it will just break off at the leader so there is no real line loss. I'll also add that this one rod has been one of the best setups I've purchased, and I dont mean quality. What I mean is Ive probably put more fish numbers wise in the boat with that setup this year then all my other rods and reels. A dedicated dropshot setup is a must have in my book, also for what its worth this setup brought in an 8lb channel cat a couple weeks ago with out any issues. I would stay away from BC for dropshotting, its not the best choice plus line twist is horrible when dropshotting. Just one more reason I use braid, since switching to braid line twist issues are a thing of the past...
  20. I've seen a lot of guys doing this same thing for big swimbaits
  21. All you have to really do is hold a popmax next to a popr and the quality of the popmax will show through. For the last month the popper bite has been awesome here in the am, and I fish with a buddy who won't buy top dollar lures. He uses a rebel and I use a popmax and I generally out fish him 2 to 1, he's using a silver and black popr and I using a MB sexy shad popmax. So with these results I'll keep using the top dollar lure, proof is in the pudding for me
  22. Popmax all the way, color just pic one you like it will work. Me I like darker colors for topwater because it contrasts with the sky and clouds.
  23. If your speaking of places like liberty, prettyboy or loch raven reservoirs, you cant even have a gas motor attached to your boat. You also must sign an affidavit stating that the only places your boat will be launched is them three reservoirs, because of the threat of zebra mussels. Now as far as piney run, tridelphia or rocky gorge I dont know the exact rules for them. As far as getting the boat back on trailer I do it all the time with one 55lb minn kota, its really a piece of cake.
  24. The bait ball crank bait was originally created by a guy who is or was a member of this site. Basically live target saw his original, and mass produced it before he could, and now he gets nothing. I believe the only real difference is that his was a painted lure.
