  1. 1 was caught on a strike king rattle trap and the other 2 (including the one above) were caught on lures made by KaRu Lures USA, their vibrashock (bladed jig 3/8 oz) white with pink accents.
  2. Due to our lovely Chicago weather here. I managed to squeeze in a fishing outing on the 21st before it snowed on the 23rd....My buddy and I only caught 3 fish, all 3 were over 20" (20.5, 22 and 22.5). She was 22.5" and about 6lbs, great fish.
  3. Nice job on the first step of admitting you have a problem. I just got my first jdm this week as well, a scorpion 1001 4x4 svs model. The 1000xt looks pretty sweet as well. I hope you enjoy it. It was a hard purchase for me as I love my chronarch ci4+ for pretty much everything. I'm hoping to use my scorpion to throw light finesse baits. My next problem is aftermarket parts....
  4. Yeah, that is partially why I enjoy it so much. Gets you outside and you can make it as technical as you want. However, that does not always mean more fish.
  5. Welcome to the forums. Nice to see another tech guy on the boards. Systems Engineer here.
  6. Shockwave, the fourth post on this thread pretty much answered all of my questions on jig fishing. Good luck.
  7. bama craw and pbj
  8. I keep a general log of the number of fish I catch (I'm trying to hit 250 fish in a season). I have been interested in using this ScoutLook fishing app. It basically does everything your log has, just on your phone. *edit, I take that back. It has features like fish length, tide, water clarity. Nothing on moon phase but you can deduce that information based on date.
  9. I would agree. My baitcasting rod is a Shimano Crucial worm and jig rod. Great rod for the money at 120, better at 83.
  10. Picked up 2 JM Signature Series 2 rods, fifty pack of sticko's in GP. Bunch of misc terminal tackle and one of those BPS boca grips.
  11. I checked out the black carbonlites at my BPS and saw that they had the JM signature series II for about 10 dollars difference (black carbonlites were 71 and JM Sig Series II were 83). I picked up 2 JM Sig series (casting and spinning) in MH. Anyone have any experience with these? In comparison to the black carbonlites, they were a little heavier, but the guides looked better on the JM Sig series.
  12. Man, she is a trooper. Sorry that happened, can't imagine what you are going through. I hope she heals up quick.
  13. I was planning on replacing my spinning rod with a Carbonlite, bps tungsten weights, fish grips, zoom products, net bait paca craws, power pro braid, and check out some casting rods. I have quite a bit in gift cards. Next year I'm going to ask for tw gift cards.
  14. I like the jig as well. Spinnerbaits are a close second because I like the way bass hit them.
  15. Depending on how many places you plan on fishing don't forget about the fishing licenses for each of the states you plan on fishing in. Most states have a day or 2 day licenses, and the ones I've been in have also the ability to pay for the license online. Good luck, sounds like a cool trip.
  16. I was planning on doing the same thing. I was also going to check out the duckett ghost rods.

    Hey Dwight

We had a different situation, snow plow hit a parked/buried car.
  18. Hootie, I appreciate the heads up. I was already looking at the carbonlites for my new spinning rod, this pretty much seals the deal. I'll keep my eye out for the older black ones and see if I can compare them.
  19. Ragetail baby craw and paca chunks for a bigger profile.
  20. Frank, Thanks for the tip. I didn't want to spend too much as I am not sure if I will like fly fishing.
  21. I have the ci4+ in lefty and it is darn near my favorite reel. It's light, bearings are pretty good and it's pretty easy to adjust the brakes. The spool is kind of shallow. But otherwise no complaints. I got a lews bb1pro for christmas and have yet to get it out on the water. I like the size of the lews better, we'll see how it performs this spring.
  22. I was looking at the fly kit from the first post, but I went with this one instead from Amazon. We'll see how it performs this summer. http://www.amazon.com/Pflueger-Fly-Kit-8-Feet-0-Inch/dp/B0036XE3K6

  24. any pics of this franken bait? Or is the patent pending?
  25. I bought a wildy ride 135 late in the season last year and it's a whole different way of fishing. I was previously shore bound. Got a bunch of goodies this christmas and I can't wait for spring!
