  1. Hey, anyone from the central IL area? How is lake jacksonville? Any info would be great! Thanks in advance! - Tony
  2. I love tacos al pastor. There is a guy on youtube called ballistic BBQ and he does a pretty good version without the vertical broiler. Pics of the result would be much appreciated!
  3. Added this guy to the club. Going to be using it for Trigs and small jigs. I have been really happy with my kistler KLX (crank rip and twitch). Their sale on FB made it a no brainer. I am going to be putting this MGL on a Kistler Magnesium 2 rod (7ft Heavy-MH XFast).
  4. I have a few, we got custom ones made for our kayak bass league. Orange side for one club, green side for another.
  5. Buzzed, do it! I picked one up used for 180. It's pretty awesome, little heavy at 8.5 oz but it's solid and smooth. I plan to use it on my megabass perfect pitch when frogging season comes around. That whine is addicting as well.
  6. I've got the fury 795 as well, I like the rod but I'm not sure what to expect when I'm throwing 3oz lures. I feel like it casts ok, maybe I just need to get used to it. I'm interested in what you think about that rod. Also, nice pick up on the tatula HD.
  7. So it started snowing this morning...might as well swap some parts around.
  8. I like bocas but man their site can be confusing. That type r is super solid. Kind of wish I kept it instead of selling it. I replaced it with a exsence DC for my frog reel.
  9. I'm a fan of the shimano crucial worm and jig rod, I mainly throw 3/8oz -1/2oz jigs. Nice tip on the rod and good backbone. I use this rod with a chronarch ci4+ 151HG.
  10. What Megabass rod do you have the j dream on? Looks excellent.
  11. I think I remember basspro shops having a generic handle for like 12$.
  12. The sizes are measured from handle to handle. As far as the knobs, I think the RCS knobs will fit on daiwa handles. Might have to email them to confirm.
  13. Very happy to enable a fellow JDM enthusiast/addict.
  14. http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/product_info/language/en/manufacturers_id/10/products_id/22964/daiwa.html i win?
  15. Find some new friends? I kid, I kid, but one thing to ask yourself do these friends do the same with other consumables? Come over to your house, eat your food don't chip in on drinks or bring something over? Offer to pay for your gas on your boat? if a friend invited me, and offers stuff it's one thing, but I still give them gas money or buy dinner later after the trip or help in some way. Just the right thing to do.
  16. I was there, managed to catch some fish during practice but had a tough time during the actual tournament. I learned a few things and have some work to do. I'm glad I went and met a bunch of cool people. It was a fun experience with the pre tournament prep and research on the lake. The people of TN and KY were great, found some interesting locals to talk to and nice places to eat. i only managed one fish during the tournament, but did much better during practice. I was not prepared for the wind and conditions on sat and Sunday and could not effectively fish my spots. I also caught this 22.5" drum. I thought I won when I hooked it.
  17. @prjavelin I'm not sure of the vehicle you are using for your trips, but I car top my wilderness systems ride 135 on my Honda CRV. I place the front end of the kayak on the back of the car and then push it up and forward. My kayak weighs about 88lbs, I can lift and carry it by myself, but the 13.5ft length makes it awkward. I've found this is the best way to car top it. I put a little rug on the back of the car to help protect the car. They make rollers (you can probably make your own) to help guide the kayak on top of the car. Once in position I use Malone saddle up pro to hold the kayak onto my roof rack. To answer your other questions, you just have to adjust to the seated position. I use mostly 7ft rods and I can do most presentations fine. Hooksets are mainly side sweeps for moving baits like spinner baits, swim jigs. Upward for jigs and t rigs. Just have to figure out what works best for you.
  18. I feel his pain. I think his problem is because us yankees have winter to deal with. Bad things happen to our wallets during this time. I've lost some battles to the bait monkey this winter as well.
  19. I had the same problem when looking at an si image. There is a guy on you tube that does tips and tricks for humminbird units and it cleared things up for me. There is a section here in the electronics forum that shows screen shots and interpretations from other more experienced anglers. I just picked up a helix 7 and can't wait to get it on the water.
  20. Just added this guy to the family. Winter does a hell of a job on my wallet.
  21. welcome to the forums and the disease of bass fishing. Roadwarrior has a great thread on this:
  22. Hard to gauge, but last year I think I saw some of my best fishing near the end of March. Water temp was between 45 and 55 degrees.
  23. If you don't mind sharing which JDM site you purchased this from? It's next on my list....dunno if I can hold out til spring.
  24. Yeah, I don't get out all that often maybe 40 outings last year in the spring/summer/fall. I keep a small log of outings which includes temp, weather conditions, water clarity and number of fish and what lure worked. If you're interested my club has a couple of outings in southern WI this year and we're doing an online tournament. And it doesn't matter what kayak you have, whatever it takes to get you out on the water. www.kayakbassleague.com
  25. My fishing goals for 2016: 01. Break personal best of 6lbs LM (I have three at 6lbs). 02. Catch 250 fish. 03. Place at least top 5 in all of my kayak bass club tourneys. 04. Get more friends into kayak fishing.
