  1. Caught this smallie on Lake St. Clair in Michigan. Caught in 10 FOW on drop shot with plastic!
  2. How much did that hog in your fist post weigh? Awesome smallie!
  3. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has ever used, or if you can use the Ambition Junior rod from *** as a semi ultra light rod? They have a 5' one that feels real nice and I thought about putting a small spinning reel on it! Just wondering what you guys thought about it or if any of you have any experience with this rod? thanks, Dave
  4. I just recently bought my first baitcaster, and I've read posts stating that for your first one buy a decent one. So after reading countless posts and reviews I went with a Lew's Tournament Pro. I got it off ebay for an awesome price of a $120! And like a lots of posts suggested, I put some 12lb. mono on it and practiced as I have never casted a baitcaster before. Last weekend I took it out on the lake and put a 1/2oz. lipless crankbait on and it was casting great!! I was amazed at how far I was casting without trying hard, and not one birdsnest!! But some of the others I considered before I bought the Lew's were the BPS Pro Qualifier, Shamano's Curado. The Revo's are a real nice reel also. Here is a pict. of my Lew's TP on a *** *** Black 7"1" M rod!
  5. You can't go wrong with a Lew's reel! Just a good quality reel at a great price!
  6. Ok, I'm fairly new to throwing lures (and knowing what the lure does), can anyone tell me what is the difference between the Rattlin Rapala or the Rippin Rap? Which one would you prefer to throw and why? thanks for any info, Dave
  7. Thanks everyone for your input! I went ahead and bought the Sufix Siege 12lb. in Tangerine. No one around here carried the Tangerine color so I had to order it!
  8. Another question, do you guys use a fluorcarbon leader for cranks when using either Elite or Siege?
  9. Thats what I ended up buying, the same one you just mentioned. It is a sweet looking rod. Just have to get out on the water and test it out!
  10. Thanks for the info! Does the Siege cast as good as the Elite?
  11. Sorry, I'll be throwing some lipless cranks, shallow cranks, maybe some jerkbaits and crawler harness. And doing some drop shot. Nothing heavier than 1/2-5/8 oz.
  12. Looking to put some line on my new baitcaster. I will using this set up to fish for smallies in open water. Should I go with the Elite, or Siege?
  13. I know there's always bass boats at the Red Roof Inn in St. Clair Shores on Little Mack between 13 Mile and Masonic. It's a few mile to the lake and not sure of the prices! Hope this helps!
  14. Well guys, I pick up a rod today! Went to the local tackle shop a couple miles from me and bought a 7'1" M "***" rod!! Paired it with the Lew's TP and they look great together and feel amazining! Can't wait to get some line on it and put some smallies in the boat! Just wanted to say thanks for all the great info and input you guys gave me!! Dave
  15. I just got the TP off eBay, and it looks awesome! It weighs 6.7 oz unspooled, due to the carbon fiber crank handle. Haven't got to use it yet as I just got it Friday. I snagged it for $121.00!! I just picked up a 7'1" M *** rod for it today and they look great together! Can't wait to get some line on it and put it to the test!
