  1. On the lake I fish and know the most the top water bite starts at post spawn
  2. For me the biggest problem is going to a really good spot or any spot for that matter and getting snagged. This could be on your first cast or your 100th. For instance say you are killing fish in a bay on stumps and lay downs, you get hung up make some noise an it is over
  3. You seem to be on the right track just keep that up and be helpful and polite
  4. So true just go out and relax and have fun
  5. Don't ignore the adrenaline rush, use it to your advantage. Just trust in your angling and know that you are good and will catch fish. God out execute your plan and stay foccued..... and the biggest thing is have fun, if you are not having fun you will perform bad
  6. I believe it is a good idea..... But half the fun is showing off fish on the weigh in stage. However my small high school bass club is using group chat this summer because for us there was never a crowd to weigh in fish for. We are doing this so that the fish have a better shot of surviving. Fish is weighed by boater (marshal) a picture is taken of the scale and of a ruler, and the weight is texted to the other anglers boaters.
  7. Wow I have never heard of those in my area but I would be interested in doing one.....Thanks and congrats
  8. Congrats, I think winning a tough tournament feels pretty good. When you are one of the only ones who caught them it gives you a pretty good feeling of accomplishment
  9. I have used those portable ones before, they work just fine and have kept all my fish alive..... You should be fine
  10. That would be unfortunate, it would definitely get me off my game. I have personaly never had that happen but I hear of it happening down south alot
  11. It depends if they are spawning there, but a general rule of thumb would be they will stay there as long as the food source does
  12. Saw that guy, he seemed very smart at what he does
  13. Thank you guys for all the help, I will keep you posted
  14. Thank you this helped a lot. With there being a Cabala's Bass Tournament the day before I believe that if we can catch a limit we will be competitive
  15. That is what I think is the best way, in the end you have to do what the fish want.
  16. This past summer I fished almost everyday. The amount of soft plastic worms I was going through either as trailers or t-rigged was crazy..... I am 18 I have colleg next year so I could not afford this AT ALL. It got to teh point where I was using beat up worms that would not catch a stump none to less a bass. So I started pouring my own. My originally plan was to just use them when I went out everyday but in tourneys I would still use store bought ones. Well that all changed..... I have experinced extreme success with in them. In fact I caught my PB a 6-11 fishing one of my homemade plastics. There are obviously some times I will use ones I buy in a tournamnet if I want a certain design or color but if I just want a power I will use mine. Do you guys use your homemade ones in a tournamnet or what are your thoughts about that?
  17. I feel liek if you our on a heavly fished lake having a spot to yourself could be the differnence in cashing a check or not in a tourney. However after the tournament is over I ushally tell people where I cuaght them. But fishing the Mississippi is differnt there is no secret spots on the main river (There are several in the back water) just hot spots on the main river that you tell none of tell after the tourney
  18. I simple thing to keep in mind is that the bass are going to be looking for food. During the spawning phases they did not focuss on this that much. Find where the food source is and use jerks, cranks, flukes and jigs to find em'. Pretty much where all the other post say to go creek mouths, drop offs stuff like that
  19. I saw the Gander Mountain Myth on sale. I was wondering if this is a good combo or what you guys think about it. It was a good deal but I am just a little leery 7' Medium Heavy
  20. Nice job. It is a good way to start the season on a win
  21. I believe you can become a pro without going to college. But it would not be wise. There is so much more to pro fishing than the fishing. Behind the science work with sponsors and marketing=go to college Plus college will help you get a higher pay job to pay your entry fees getting started
  22. That is what I am thinking. I have a feeling that it will be liek the Bassmaster Elite Tournamnet this past week on Lake Guntersville. Where the bass our in all three phases on all differnt parts of the lake. However teh majoity of them being in post-spwan. Thanks for the help
  23. I wonder what lure he was using to allow two bass to hit on it? I do not think I would have doen that I would have cashed in the pounder and then gone after the bigger one
  24. Fish your strengths, do not get beat by your mind by thinking you cannot compete against those 199 other boats. The only boat you got to worry about is you... get to teh spot you want first and just put trust in God and go get em'
  25. They have topwater frog only tournaments in Wisconsin on the Mississippi that I have herd of
