  1. Whenever the fishing gets hard for me I go to finesse. Try to go out with a smaller and more subtle presentation.
  2. A 6-9 large mouth on a Texas rigged worm with a 3/16 ounce weight in early August
  3. If you feel more comfortable setting the hook right handed them I would take the time and practice that left hand reel. The more you use it the more comfortable it will feel
  4. Great looking boat, enjoy
  5. Even tho it still reads temp?
  6. I was wondering if anybody has fished Chetac Lake in Birchwood Wisconsin. I am heading there in late June and was wondering what I should expect, and what are some key techniques/patterns to key in on. Thank your for your help
  7. I agree with you that he is fading, like him or not look at the facts his level of production has gone down... big time. But that being said he is competing against best bass anglers in the world and is still qualifying for the Elite Series, he simply has a passion for the game and just wants to keep going he does not have to ride off in the sunset like people would like, hes doing what he enjoys and I am all for that
  8. I always ask the boater if they want me to bring them anything and as for myself I try and bring plenty of what I know I will be using form what I learned in practice and pre-fishing. Yet, I will also bring enough of some other lures/techniques (even if its one or two) so that I am prepared for any situation that might arise. All while keeping it to one Berkley tackle bag (usually about 5-6 planos)
  9. Navionics Web app is the first thing I look at when preparing for a tournament
  10. I have also herd some thing about sponsor representation in the FLW. I know that if you qualify to fish the final day you are given one of there wrapped boats to use. (idk about you but that would throw me off, having to rig a new boat when I could be working on tackle) As well I have herd that you cannot wear a sponsor logo that is a rival company to one of the FLW sponsors (example FLW is sponsors by Kellogg cereal, you could not have a General Mills cereal patch on your jersey or boat/truck)
  11. Best advice, you have to stay positive and never count yourself out in a tournament. From the minute you said you knew you were out of it with two hours left my guess is you were just going through the motions. You have to stay positiveness and keep focusing on the moment.
  12. I have a HumminBird 170 fish locator. It always worked fine until last year. Now when I turn it on it says that the transducer is not connected (I have made sure it is) I then tab over past simulator mode to "set-up ". It then goes to the screen where you would normally have it. The screen remains blank all but where the temperature is. It gives the temperature and does it accurately as I have compared it to my other fish locator on the boat. The only other display on the screen is the line at top showing you it is reading..... where the bottom contour should be there is absolutely nothing. I know the screen is not damaged there because when you go to simulator mode everything works just fine. I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me? Thank you in advance.
  13. If you are able to talk to the boater before the tournament I would ask him how much room he has. Both of the boaters I have done tournaments with have said to bring all of mine (10) they also let me put them in there locker. But these were friends of mine, if you were in a BFL the it would be a random person and that might be different.
  14. I would get one that Bass Resource makes, as well as a lot of companies sell "jerseys" with their company logo all over it, these look pretty cool.
  15. I would say handsdown yes to both. And I by no means have a nice unit, for me getting the depth and the temp is huge. Even on low scale models you can see the levels of the baitfish. You can also use them to locate offshore structure
  16. Congrats man!! Once you get the itch it's game over
  17. That right there is why the pros are pros. It is so easy to get down on yourself after a bad tournament and say I'm never going to be a professional bass angler if I cannot even boat a fish in a little tournament. It is in these times that you have to keep positive and know that you will just have to put in that much more work to get you where you want to be. I am a young pursing tournament angler myself, and I am not trying to preach but I have learned over the years that the mental game is huge. I run track and field in the NCAA and can tell you that if you let yourself mentally slip you are done. Just like you were saying you had no confidence. There will be days that do not go your way that is fishing and that is life. Yet, you must stay positive and keep grinding. Go in to every tournament knowing that you will catch fish, and if things do not go your way trust God that it is all part of His plan. Your failures are what drives you to put in more work to get where you want to be.
  18. Points; Are areas where land jonts out into the water. If I was you, knowing nothing about this body of water, I would start along the shore in the morning on points or in a bay. Or where there is it appears an island near the road is marked 132, I would fish inside of that part on the main river. Once the day got going and the sun got higher in the sky I would let the fish tell me what they want. By that I mean are they moving off to deeper water or are they going shallow up in cover.
  19. As long as you have a descent working livewell you should be good.
  20. There are several; Black River Bassmasters (Sparta), River Road Bassmasters (La Crosse), Bass Flippin' Fun Series (Sparta). There are also several "Week night" tourney clubs for example ACE Hardware puts on Monday night tourneys out of Goose Island
  21. I believe that many different things contributed to me becoming better than average (I still Have a long way to go). The biggest would be confidence, you have to go out believe you will catch fish and believe that you are a great angler. Another thing that I believe helped contribute to my success was going out and using either a certain pattern or a certain lure for a couple days to a week. This way I built confidence in several techniques and not just a select few so when the fishing got tough I could adapt.
  22. In my mind the Yamamoto is hands down the best!!! But it is spendy! So I have found the Gander Mountains name brand is just as good and a lot cheaper
  23. I have herd that cutting a small bob size hole in the back of the frog helps drain the water out
  24. I an truly behind a positive attitude, you truly have to believe that you will succeed and when you TRULY DO the YOU WILL... Put all your trust in God
  25. Honestly it is so over talked about people just brush it off.... But having a confident attitude is the best tool. You have to truly believe that you will succeed!!! As far as gear goes just have your strengths and enough to adapt and be versatile
