  1. I would use a MH 7' rod with a mod-fast tip.
  2. They only are taking the top 8 from this tournament right? If so then I take KVD.
  3. Thank you guys, It makes sense the longer I'm out there the more opportunity to put the winning fish in my live-well.
  4. This is a tourney question but I believe it brings in this form. I'm in a tournament this weekend, weigh in ends at 4 but you can bring fish in anytime. There is no set start time just honesty policy that the fish is not from the day before/another lake. So I was wondering to give my self the best advantage when should I go out, 7:30 like a normal tournament or early? Thanks for the help. This is in northern Wisconsin and the weather will be sunny and 80 Saturday
  5. This past Saturday my tournament partner and I fished our first tournament together. We studied and practiced really hard and fished our way to a 5th place finish and cashed a check. Heres the problem we caught about thirty fish and culled 5 times. I am not exaggeration when I say we spent at least 10mins each time we culled. We tried putting culling tags on our fish but did not know the size. In order to cull we tried using my scale but that was inacruate and untrustworthy. I just want to know what you guys do in order make culling easier, or how you separate fish in the live-well by size or whatever you do to save time. This was a disaster and I know not every tournament the fish will be biting as well as they were this weekend and we would not like to lose valuable fishing time. Thanks for the help
  6. Can't wait to hear from you, give it your all and trust God!!
  7. In short I like to drop shot when I can not get anything else going or the fish are playing hard to get... this is a incredible finesse tactic that can work when the fish have lock jaw. Although this being said I also believe that the drop shot can be fished even on the best of days of fishing, I believe it is a very underrated/used technique.
  8. I would go with the dip, it seems to work well for me, or I just find a color of senko that I want with the tips already colored
  9. In my oppion I take the pit boss, they are very effective flipped as well as punched. I just really like the simple design and profile that is slim. When the water moves the legs around it really keys fish in on that action I believe.
  10. Lethal Weapon Swim Jig 2, 1/4 oz in Black and Blue
  11. I always have this problem as well, I know it is because I buy the cheap ones for $1.29. I have fished with Strike King and Terminator and both of these make top of the line spinner baits if you are willing to spend a little more.
  12. In my opinion there is a jig for almost ever senior that you could encounter while out fishing. That is something you will have to put the time on the water and research off the water on your own. As far as trailers go, I never fish a jig without one. They add size as well as make the jig appear more life like. I trail my swim jigs with a soft plastic swimbait most times, and train my pitching jigs with some variation of a craw.
  13. I was just wondering what are the advantages to round bend worm hooks like the EWC Worm vs the advantages of the straight shank worm hooks. Does the round bend penatrate the bass different? Better? And also which do you prefer. Thank you!
  14. In order to become a pro you must qualify in that leagues "minor-league". For the BassMaster Elite Series that is the Bassmaster Opens. For the FLW Tour that is the FLW Costa Series (its changes its name a lot it was Rayovac Series last year). There is also a way to qualify through fishing a local club that is affiliated with B.A.S.S or FLW. this goes as so Club-Zone-State-Region-National (I believe they take something like top 10% on from each level, then the top 5 at national or some small n umber like that get a invite to fish the pros). My bets advice for you would be to fish the FLW BFL which is the league below the FLW Costa Series (So the league below the minor League) then when you feel ready move to the Costa Series. I would also look to join a B.A.S.S or FLW affiliated club in your areas. You can go to FLW.com to find BFL tournaments near you and you can ask around on here or Google Clubs near you.
  15. I was in the same boat as you buddy, I started doing tournaments at the same age. For me I worked really hard to get my school to allow a bass team, they were worried about liability as well... I contacted the CEO of the FLW High School league and had him personally call my principle. But if that is a no go for you then here are a few option that could work. - Most bigger bass clubs will have a junior club as well, this will allow you to fish tournaments but do it with kids your age and then once you are old enough and feel ready you can move up to the adult club. -Do some Google searches as there are plenty of small non B.A.S.S or FLW leagues out there for bass tournaments. As well as plenty of open tournaments out there for you to join I bet every weekend somewhere in your state. Many of these you need to have at least someone in the boat who is 18, but these tournaments are also team tournaments so even if one of your parents or a family friend is not in to fishing you could ask them to at least ride along in the boat as your "partner" so that you are legal to fish the tournaments. I know this can all be confusing and I know exactly how you feel as this was me a few years ago. So if you have any additional questions I will be more than willing to help you out just message me.
  16. Hahahahah poor guy was just excited to go fishing!!
  17. I usually will have the fish on for a couple seconds then say "there we go" or "here's one"
  18. I will sometimes use the notes app on my phone and take some details down and leave the size and pretend it's my "live-well" and try to get the bets "bag" (5) at the end of the day. Yet to be honest most times I stop counting after I catch five.
  19. Rain + Wind = Spinner Bait down the Bank. If it is just a solid rain I tend to find stumps and pull a spinner bait around/over the stumps
  20. For me its my own stupidity , I had just bought a brand new rod and reel (Abu Garcia) really nice especially for a 16 year old... I dropped it in the lake and had to use a rake to scourer the bottom for it.
  21. Live on the mighty miss, proud to call home and have the Elites coming to town thus fall
  22. As long as it is not against the tournament rules and you have a live well go for it!! It's about talent not flash
  23. When I get skuned I change as hard as it is to leave your comfort zone you have to if you want to catch fish. I prefer to fish finesse when things are tough going
  24. When I fishing cover I look for small or big difference s. When you pull up on cover it's very easy to be overwhelmed by all the same cover. So I look for difference in the cover, maybe an open hole or a indent or point. Cast to those areas thoroughly
