  1. Live shiners on a maribou jig
  2. Any of you guys float Eleven point? I have a trip planned for the end of the month. Its one of the few Ozark streams I have never floated. Just wondering what the fishing is like there.
  3. My go to has always been green pumpkin or watermelon senkos and white power grubs on a jig head in all the ozark streams and rivers. A rebel craw is probably going to be your best bet as far as crank baits go. Rooster tails are probably a safe bet also.
  4. The guys I know that fish for them use some form a bread bait, like a dough ball or something. They also troll for them to cover more area but I'm sure fishing from the bank would work the same way.
  5. That is amazing. Both of those fish would be a personal best for me. If I caught both on one cast I would fall out of the boat.
  6. Mid 70's yesterday, high 50's today. The entire midwest is confused right now.
  7. I have been bass fishing my entire life but only recently got serious about it so I never paid too much attention to what the weather was doing until now. My question is about fishing right before the leading edge of a cold front hits. I searched the forum and all I could find was stuff on fishing during or after a cold front. This morning I went out to a small local lake before class and it seemed like I was catching fish on just about everything I threw. I caught considerably more fish than I usually do on this lake. By the time I left the edge of the front had hit the temperature had begun to drop, and I was getting almost no bites. My question is do bass generally become more active right before a cold front hits?
  8. If you are looking right around St. Peters/St. Louis areas there are some small state maintained lakes. There's also Lake St. Louis in Wentzville but it may be private I'm not sure. If you have a boat and are willing to travel there are some great lakes a few hours drive from St. Louis. Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock, Bull Shoals, and Norfork just to name a few. Just south of the city is the Meramec River and a little further south is the St. Francois River. Also the Metro area is full of golf courses and most of them will let you fish them as long as it is late afternoon or on Monday's when several courses are closed for maintenance.
  9. 2 words...Beetle Spin. I've caught more bluegill on these little guys than any other lures I've ever used. They will work on crappie and bass as well.
  10. My go to lure for walleye is a 3" white Berkley Power Grub on a jig head. I've also had a lot of luck on a Mepps or Rooster Tail in white and silver colors
  11. That's a great walleye for a first. I just recently got turned onto walleye fishing in the last year and so far its been a blast.
  12. 1. Walleye without a doubt the best tasting fish fresh or salt water 2. A good mess of crappie is a close second 3. Bluegill
  13. I bass fish because its a great way to spend time outside. For me it kills a lot of time is the spring and summer when there is nothing to hunt. Its not all about bass fishing either. I also love to fish walleye, and get into a good mess of crappie during the spawn. Also I think everyone who loves bass fishing should take a trip to Louisiana and go after redfish. My dad and I went for the first time two years ago and we have been back twice a year ever since.
  14. I went with the numbers over size. I love catching big fish but only catching about 1 per hour gets me bored and frustrated.
  15. I was wondering if anyone has been fishing the Current River in South Missouri/NW Arkansas. I am in Columbia for school right now, but the semester is about over and I am ready to get home and hit the water. I'm just wondering how the fishing has been/where have you been catching? Also has anyone been catching any walleye. I usually fish from Doniphan south to the state line.
