  1. I've never caught a peacock bass but from everything I have read they are the ultimate. I voted for smallies though. Gorgeous fish that know how to fight.
  2. It will be nice when the water temp gets out of the 30s here. I'm afraid the bass just aren't shallow yet. I noticed some small bluegill at the shoreline of the smaller shallow ponds that have warmed up faster. I need to take a thermometer and check the temps in them. That should be a good starting point to know when the forage is moving shallow in the large muddy lakes. The muddy lakes should really warm up faster since they are able to absorb more heat. Great topic with a lot of great info.
  3. I'm going to be forced to fish these very same conditions in a tourney in two weeks. There is no way the lake will clear up before then and the water is cold. Right around 38 degrees presently. I'm hoping it will get close to 50 before my tourney. I'm heading out tomorrow and my plan is black and blue jig in the creek channel bends and main points of the lake. I'll also rig a watermellon with red flake or a green pumpkin tube with a rattle to drag on the bottom. Sometimes we have to fish these conditions but I would much rather fish it at a little warmer temp if possible.
