Try a yamamoto senko weightless it can be thrown on bait cast or spin just watch your line for ticks and start at 3 and slowly pick up to 12 oclock and rely on the fall of the bait i like a 5" watermelon senko with a size 3 or 4 EWG hook

i learned on a lews reel that had 2 brake systems it was almost inpossible to backlash it haha

I wouldnt throw a senko if you cant see your line on top of the water because you fish the senko with slack line (so you need to see the line for ticks) Maybe try reaction baits or even top water so you can use your other senses (hearing bass strike on top water) (feeling the bight on a tight line) Also try to lighten up your rod and reel set so you can feel strikes more, I caught my personal best bass of 5 pounds on a falcon ultra light rod with a shimano stradic 1000 reel on 6 lb monofilament BUT if you love the senko like me and must keep fishing it i would maybe hold the line with my finger to feel ticks more and def. use lighter rod and reel and line. Or try a bigger senko with a slip sinker and tight line it. I HOPE THIS HELPS -MDP

There is really no "best" bait some things will just always work better than other IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS HOWEVER.... A few baits I know i will catch a fish on eventually in one day are: Weightless Gary Yamamoto Senko (pick color for your clarity of water fish very slow), Green Pumpkin and black Jig and craw or pork trailer (again fished slow but with short hops on the bottom), I have a lot of luck on Berkley Power Worms as well, If they are in the mood for top water i love buzzbaits and hollow body frogs, and finally for the smallmouth id tie on a 4" white grub 1 or twin tail Remember i dont know anything about the water you are fishing these are just baits i have found can produce just about all year long and in any water with the right color and presentation of course just try a few out the only way to find out if something works in your waters is to try it yourself GOOD LUCK AND TIGHT LINES-MDP

Hey everyone im leaving for panama city beach tomorrow and was gonna take a rod and reel with me (like always when i travel). Let me know if you all know any good Black/Largemouth Bass lakes in or around Panama city beach or panama city THANK YOU

O agree with swamp life, i learned on a LEWS reel and still use one today i love them i have a *** black rod 7.3' medium-heavy action rod and yes any lews bait cast is nice

I would go center to the bank just like being in a boat And I agree with sam maybe one quick picture and i lay them in the water as close to there bed as possible

i look at the "spawn" as the month or so process when all the bass move to shallow water from deeper water to make sweet babies...the whole process of JUST protecting the bed can also be the "spawn" but also dont forget the big bass will stay shallow for a week or two after all the eggs hatched as they will feast cause they are worn out from the process of "spawning" Also try deeper (what i call "roads traveled") to and from the spawn areas...by this i mean cast a little deeper to where you think the bass travel from deep to shallow water because some bass are probly done spawning already and looking to work there way back to the deep of the pond!

When males are protecting the beds thats all they are doing they are not concerned with eating for this period only protecting the bed and the females are tired and lazy now from the spawn and wont bite either id try a Jig and Craw for the bedding bass they will bite it on the beds if you imitate like the craw or lizard or frog is taking the eggs off the bed

but if you have to fish a spoon just try everything you mentioned it couldnt hurt to see what they like best

Well my advice would be since your going to be on a hooping and hollaring party boat i would maybe work something off the bottom SLOWLY and as far away from all the commotion as you can get. I am not much of a spoon fisherman but... I like a weightless senko or Jig and Craw maybe a lipless crank bait bumping the bottom

It wouldnt hurt to just go get some shiners (YES LIVE BAIT) and take one day and tie the bobber and hook on and just see if there are any in the pond!

I just put in my order for the mod pack at siebert outdoors(one of every jig designed by the great BR staff) I am fairly new to jig fishing and thought these were perfect colors and a great collection to own! Plus it is for a nice cause! Id go with smallest weight i can get away with on the soft plastics...You really cant beat frogs on pads you can throw swimming frogs(if you can get it in between vegetation) and top water frogs. I like using the lightest rod/reel i can get away with as well but thats just what im use too and my personal opinion which im sure someone will tell you otherwise Tight lines and let me know how you do in the tourny P.S. Since your in FL id definatly start the day with a top water frog!
