  1. Sign me up Tom. I'll bring the boat.
  2. He might have been bringing all that.....lol
  3. Sounds like you've already lost in your own mind. Best advice or saying I ever heard about our beloved sport....."bass fishing is the loosingest sport you'll ever do". The great Gman said that. The longer on the water the more you learn. Every trip good or bad you should learn something. If you're not, you're not paying attention. The more you learn the more pieces you put together, the better you do. Then they take all your pieces and what you thought you figured out didn't work and you do it again and take what you learned and apply it to the next one.
  4. He's just a boater who lost his boat. Looks like he brought everything but the boat. I'd be like so pick 6 and take the rest back to your vehicle.
  5. Most know which are their smaller fish. Use a Cull beam when they are close or scale them as I catch once I know what my smallest is in the well. Just have to remember you have to add the clip to the fish if the ones in the well were weighed with clips.
  6. I can fish with or without it. Navigation with it is essential. Good for marking objects you would rather not find on pad. As for fishing, the ones who understand and utilize their electronics as a tool tend catch more fish with them then the guy that has it in the boat and doesn't other then the water temp and depth. I can run down a bank and power fish but can also pull off the bank locate offshore structure, use my ffs and fish it as well.
  7. I use a 9" screen that's touch. Not hard to adjust or use. If you're just using it for livescope the 9" echomap is money. The double the price for the 12" unless you're going to network a bunch of units not worth it for just livescope.
  8. Black, white, chartreuse/white. Double for slower presentation. Over grass flats, brush, rocky banks, flats. Anywhere. Use them prespawn and until last fall. Spring 59 degree water, fall 55. Slow in spring, faster in fall. Wanna get a big girl throw a buzz in the prespawn periods. I stick with a 3/8 to 1/2, no trailer hook, but trailer with trimmed skirt or no skirt.
  9. Run a 4 blade 25p custom prop (tempest design) on a 99 Champion 203 with my 250 proXS. Tried a 25p fury 3 blade and boat didn't like it, tried both 24 and 26p 4 blade tempest, boat didn't like. Probably get a 25p 3 blade tempest as a Spare. But you have to go run different props to figure out what your boat likes and handles the best.
  10. Hands down best walking frogs I've found. 1. Deps Slither K 2. Spro Bronzeye Shad 3. Snagproof Phat Frog Have some others I use but those 3 get it done and rate in that order, no skirt trimming needed.
  11. Garmin. In the process of replacing all my units to the echomap series. FYI, if you're looking to later network these then you need to go with the ultra 106 unit. Has 2 network hubs, and doesn't require the expansion port. Also the echomap units unsnap so you can have one unit, two bases and have everything wired already. Bases are about $50-60 or so plus cords and whatever else you might need but be a quick unsnap and snap in if you're swapping from the console to the bow. The 106sv you can find around $1399 with the transducer
  12. Should be some nylock nuts behind them. Anything backing them on the inside.....put your hand in and feel around?
  13. So they have the ie, now they will have north county and orange county as well as those in the Long Beach area a closer option. Would rather drive to Irvine then out to Ontario. And I like Anglers, but they aren't BPS. Rather buy a boat from them or some other more localized bass tackle from them. But they don't sell saltwater and opens up new markets. I'd call it smart.
  14. So to answer the above are correct for the LVS 32 and 34 transducers. Believe they have a port to run the LV24 transducer. The 32 and 34 both need the GLS 10 to operate that require the network connection on the back. But the plug and play transducer isn't the higher quality "livescope" system panoptix is running now with high resolution.
  15. I use the touch, but also only use a 9" screen. The extra $1000-1500 difference isn't worth it unless you're going to run a complete garmin network as the 10" and 12" have 2 network inputs on the back. As for adjustments the touch isn't as easy but not difficult.
  16. Some frogs definitely walk better then others. To me walking a frog is almost like walking a Pop-R. Little twitches. And then open water comes well for me a different frog normally then a matt frog. Want something a little lighter and longer. For instance wouldn't use a Spro Bronze eye shad to fish matts, but sparse cover definitely. Walks good just not a great matt bait. Only one I use for both are old Snagproof Ish frogs that aren't made anymore. Yeah you can buy the new Phatt frog but not the same as the old.
  17. Well I like Pline's TCB 8 over 832. The 832 was nice, but faded fast, and yes frayed as well as powerpro's version of 8 carrier. The coating on the Pline seems to keep the line better condition, have had some reels for 6+ years with the same line where had to replace the 832 after a 2 to 3 years.
  18. Have them and caught more off the SK 300 deep then the ones you mentioned.....lol Luckycraft makes a 90 deep as well.
  19. You can get a floating pond thermometer from a fish/pet store and tie a string to it, let it float for a few and get your reading that way or the above answers work too
  20. Working on a sportfishing boat in S. Cal. Learned to cut fish and after cutting tens of thousands you get pretty good with a knife.
  21. Only time I pitch straight braid is in grass/punching. Other then that I use a leader of 17 to 20lb fc about 6ft long or as needed especially around trees and brush. Tends to slide over branches opposed to cutting into them. And it's easier to break too.
  22. So if it were me I'd pick the Basscat. Proven boat, still make it, and I've seen that boat take rough conditions. I run an older champion, but if I ever buy a new boat it would be a Basscat.
  23. I use 20lb, little more forgiving and use cxx. Use lob/ underhand side casts instead of trying to bomb it as far as possible. If you backlash you aren't as apt to watch it break off and fly through the air. If you're gonna throw a lot more bigger baits close to 3oz you probably wanna move up to a 300 size, or at least I would. You have a little more control with a bigger reel.
  24. So tie a San Diego, a San diego, and a San diego. Doesn't slip on braid, if you want you can tie a double San Diego but not needed. I do put 9 wraps with braid though instead of 5 with fc or mono. A Palomar if I'm dropshotting. A snell if I'm punching/flipping, an Alberto, braid to either mono or fc, and a uni to uni for backing.
