  1. Old is when you have to carry an extra bag just for your medication on any overnight trip away from home.
  2. And your shoe's laces are replaced with velcro straps.
  3. For the price they should be. Must admit they are quite soft and collapse easy so getting a good hookset isn't an issue. Now getting the fish to eat the frog and not miss, nt much I can do with that one.
  4. Well today decided to toss the frog around some shallow grass in one of my many places I fish. Well about 10min of fishing, first fish.....6-7lb catfish. Not quite a bass but okay. First catfish I've caught on a frog. Fished a bit longer, connected with a 3lb bass, then had a smaller fish come completely out of the water an miss the frog. Day ended with 3 bass on the frog, one very aggressive catfish, and 3 misses. Fish all ate a Black Deps Slither. First time I've really fished this frog. Happened to be the only one I had on me when I decided to give the frog a chance after looking at the conditions I had to fish. I must say I'm impressed with this little frog, not because it caught fish but it didn't take on water when fishing a lot of open water and was easy to walk. Looking forward to giving this frog a good workout up at the Delta in a couple weeks.
  5. Gotta love that hard stiff plastic/rubber watch band. I wanted one that was in the bubblegum machine when I was like 9.
  6. maybe one of them had pretty feathers on it. But totally agree.
  7. Word of advice though, if you find bass stalking bluegill beds and are keying in on those fish only, you are going to have to throw something that really looks like a bluegill or even a bluegill. I have hit them with jigs, tubes, worms, creature baits and nothing...And i do mean hit them. They didn't move till I hit them 3-4 times. But only the one I hit would move, the rest would stay put as to not blow their cover. So if you think bed fishing is frustrating, well fishing for bass hunting bluegills on beds can be worse. Look for cruising fish....much easier to catch.
  8. Crankbaits are reaction bites. They either are going to eat it or they aren't. Find the right color, action, shape, then you're going to catch fish. If I fish a hard swimbait, it needs to look sort of like what I'm trying to replicate....size, general color. But I'm not going to slow it down for them to inspect it and see TWO big @ss hooks hanging from it. I want a reaction strike. If I have to fish one slow, then yes a soft swimbait that is detailed and realistic is going to be my choice.
  9. And if you have redear sunfish, they normally spawn before the bluegill do. But they don't spawn in the bigger groups like bluegill and only spawn once a year unlike the bluegill. They will also move back out to deeper edges after they spawn. Believe pumpkinseeds do the same thing. We used to have a pond with these in it around where I lived and most of them were always deeper with the redears where the bluegills were shallower. And reed edges are another good spot. And mean the edges where they have breaks in them exposing open holes next to the bank.
  10. Well being you're in Indiana. When the bass are spawning, the bluegill are pre-spawn. Then bass post spawn and bluegill spawn (all summer). Beds are easy to find as they are gouped up in the same area's bass like. Shallow gravel/hard bottom. Any kind of structure/cover will hold bluegill. Some days they will be high, other days they sink out. Bigger Bullgills relate to deeper weed edges and spawn a bit deeper then the tasty 4" models the bass really like. I would suggest looking for the beds of bluegills after the bass get done spawning. They aren't going to be hard to find as they will be numouros pits in shallow water sometimes in the weedbeds other times on hard bottom (base of riprap banks that have a shallow flat would be a good spot). The bass will be just outside the beds and will school up and sneak up on the bedding fish. I have watched groups of 4-5 fish sit just a few feet away from the bluegill community and wait till they stop worrying about the bass and go back to fighting among one another to only be rushed and ambushed by the 4 to 5 bass that all rush in at the same time. Look around private docks as well in the back of coves. The fish will simply slide out further to the closest deep cover when the water cools in the winter. Hope this helps you some.
  11. I like the Pop-R's and the Spittin Image Jr's.
  12. I did, and it was good for me since I'm a Pats fan. Worse thing.....could miss the interception and Seattle gets a TD .....loose Superbowl. Best thing........interception of the ball....win Superbowl.
  13. Come to really the the LAC's. Who one here can't like this song.
  14. So what's your question? Where to find them in your lake?
  15. I'm just here posting so I can poke the bear.......lol
  16. I choose reels their performance never by color, let alone white. Might as well buy the New BPS Carbonlite......it's white and less then $130. Yeah, I'm not a fan of white rods or white reels either. But I guess that's the new thing.
  17. Been using them for a long time.....before the warning post about them melting. I like the punch and turbo craws, their finesse worms (both Z-man and SK since they are the same worms), like the Zinkers, both as Zinkers and on the Ned Rig. Used to fish their 3.5" swimbaits but they discontinued them. Don't like the Flapping Craw(stored in original packs the claws fell off and Mend-it doesn't work on this stuff). They have their place in my arsenal but also know to store them the right way and yes they do last for quite a while.
  18. Well even if it was caught in 2007 it's still a big croaker. Biggest one I've caught might have been 2lbs. Mostly fish under a pound. But they do fight well on light line.
  19. I wouldn't get much on the spinning reels I use if I put 30lb braid on them....maybe 60 yards if I was lucky, but more line 40 maybe. Fish most of mine with 10lb, 20 would be the most and on a bigger spinning outfit. But like most 30 goes on my baitcasters. But try it out and if you like it fish with it. These are just our opinions.
  20. I've fished the Accurists and they are good reels. I would probably hunt around on Ebay and try to find a good price on a Kinetic. No nothing nor have any experience with the Revo's.
  21. If it's hollow underneath it then yes. Solid, not so much. They may relate around it to prey on the smaller fish and creatures that live in and feed on it though. I'd probably fish it like you do except in the heat of the day I may try punching thru it to see if there are fish hiding below that mat if you can't get them to react with a frog.
  22. Sometimes fishing is just about relaxing and enjoying the simple things.
  23. Lime Away, also removes rust, acid based toilet bowl cleaner (used this to get rust spots off a fiberglass hull), muriatic acid (used in pools) also works, just dilute with water. You can find lots of stuff at any Home Depot that will take rust off or like someone stated, get a new one.
  24. I used a Zinker from Z-Man cut in half (or you can use any 5" stickbait Senko style bait) and then a small button head as shown or in my case I used a small 1/8 oz 1/0 round jighead. A 1/16oz would probably produce better. You basically throw it out and bounce it along. It's not an impressive looking bait, and honesty when you first rig it up you think "yeah okay like this is going to catch fish" and then it does....really well at least the first outing I had with it. I rig them by threading them on the hook from the end I cut(middle of the bait toward the head of the jig).
  25. I started a topic like this on Friday after fishing that rig, and like you became a believer.
