Ty. My older Sol never caused a problem, but you mentioned the Verano did. I wonder if it has something to do with those rather large zaion spools on the newer reels.
They both use quality Fuji reel seats. Both also use what appear to be steel guides with a lower grade ceramic insert. The original orange sticks were assembled by Lamiglass in the factory.
Daiwa ABS spool / Twistbuster II Shimano Propulsion spool / Propulsion line management So let's hear it. I would like to hear everyone's actual experience using both, different size reels, all line types, and any diameters. I haven't used a Shimano spinning reel for a long long time, but line management on the cast and retrieve is oober important stuff. From all the research I have done it seems pretty 50/50. Do you think one is better than the other with shallow spools? How about deeper spools? Fluorocarbon?? Stiff fluorocarbon?? The more feedback the better! Daiwa 1500 vs. Shimano 1000 - Is one better than the other? How about a 2000 vs. a 2500?
Like I said. Older Daiwa reels. All aluminium, low gear ratios, sturdy air bail, fantastic line management, wobble free no matter how fast you turn the handle and under load. Nine ounce tanks built to last and perform. Nobody makes em like that anymore. Can't find one, get a Lexa.
I don't know. A US blank maker in my home woods making rods in China......Hmmm, yeah I don't get it. But then again, Croix had some rods made in Mexico. Sign of the time I suppose. What boggles me is the cost of the blank should you want to build on one is the same price as the built stick. Oh yeah, they are made in China. That explains it.
I'd list em like this. 1 Tatula. I'd buy one if they weren't so dang big, or my hands were smaller? The other 3 I'm gonna take a pass on. Not because they are ABU, they are so so, but the Quantum, no thanks.
I'd rank the braking -
1) Tat. Magforce Z is the bomb. From the ease of adjustment (even the location) to the effectivness of the system. Best magnetic system bar none.
I guess #2 would be the ACS. Not bad. External cent adjustments. Now just that dang bulge. You can keep the other two.
How are you fishing that? Swimming, jigging? I'll be the 1st to admit this is one technique I SUCK at. Jig, weigh and plastic, hard for me to tell whats going on with all the contact and pulling of pad stems. I'm accustom to a lighter more finesse approach, so this will be a challenge. Granted i haven't given it much time.
All really good answers. I don't throw them in the dead of summer. That's about it. Different baits (action, depth), different retrieves till you give em what they want, or don't get anything at all.
Its all a mystery to this point unless you're a rep. I really hope we see a 50 size Curado this year. Maybe Shimano will revamp the Chronarch E series, maybe not. Seems silly at the current price point. I recall reading several threads rumoring the Es would be discounted soon, but I'm not so sure. I have as many 51s and T3s I can handle, so if Daiwa or Shimano don't introduce a new small platform reel this year I may find myself purchasing a few Lews, although I'd rather not.
Okay, thanks. Sounds like a med light +. 5/8 oz may be pushing it a bit. I think I'm gonna get one. Do all the regular action Tatula rods fish a half power heavier I wonder??
Anyone using this full handle stick? Wondering what the sweet spot for lure weights is, what your using it for, and what it excels at. Been debating for awhile. Interesting ratings for a ML.
