  1. Ha! This is what I do
  2. This is what I've picked up over the winter. I have a 2nd Shimano box full of jerkbaits, and two more Planos full of flat sides, square bills, and more traps.
  3. I prefer the smaller size for two reasons. I have small hands and the lower line capacity. I typically run small diameter 13 pound test, and see no need to spool up 200 yards of it. The 200 size casts and handles bigger baits better, but it's very rare I throw anything over half ounce. The 200 is to wide for me. I own 2 50s,everything else is Daiwa so I guess it doesn't really matter!!
  4. While watching college hoops of course! March madness is almost upon us!!
  5. Aside from the already mentioned better components and build quality, a lot of it is designed to catch the fisherman. Guilty as charged. A few brands of hard baits I've found extreme quality at a reasonable price is Duo Realis, Yo Zuri, and Spro.
  6. Tatula on the lower end of the price, Megabass Orochi on the higher side.
  7. I dig it. Much more comfortable than the Acs, and made to fit my smallish hands. The double lock down nut is a nice touch.
  8. Big fan here. My favorite colors are - Ghost gill Prisim gill HD gill And of course, Komochi Wakasagi
  9. In order for this to be relevant, all rods would have to be built using the same components. If one had guides, reel seat, or handle the test subject didn't like or prefer, he would automatically dismiss it. So essentially all we would be testing is the blank to which every person has a preferred taper/action/flex, so it's somewhat bias imo. I suppose one could attempt to discern sensitivity but we all know that's rather subjective.
  10. My Cabelas in Post Falls Idaho is anything but impressive. The fishing department is weak. The only rods they carry are house brand, a handful of Loomis, and a few Croix. 70 percent Cabelas. The staff has no clue what's what or what they're selling.
  11. I have the C812 and love it. Tip and taper are spot on for my tastes. I prefer it to any Mhx high mods I've used thus far. What is it about the blank you don't like? The finish?
  12. Custom built on a Phenix Recon 683ml with an Alps tex touch reel seat, full cork grip, and black Fuji SS/Alc guides.
  13. My Savvy felt dead so I'm not holding my breath. It was nice for moving baits though. Quite balanced
  14. I wish I could say the same
  15. It always amazes me how we still find reasons to fondle our gear, even when they're not getting put to good use cause we can't be on the water. Gotta love it
  16. Take a look at the RX8 XMB873. 7'3, weighs only 1.64 ounces, and 88 bucks at get bit.
  17. Look at that other forum under the custom Rod section. Long thread about them.
  18. Or you could just do 1 double footed 5.5 or 6 onto 7 4.5s, then the tip top. I don't really see a need for more than one double foot, but perhaps that's just me.
  19. TD-ito 103hl, upgraded drag/bearings, and an SV spool as a 2nd spool. One with braid, the other Sunline Defier. Custom Rod built on an Nfc blank with Fuji titanium torzites. Built by savacs. Don't know if you guys have seen any of his work, but it's incredible.
  20. I enjoy being on the water the last few hours before the sun goes down. Takes me to my happy place for sure. Jerkbait and weightless plastics are my favorites without a doubt.
  21. If looking to spend around 60 bucks the Mhx and Rainshadow Revelation are great choices. If wanting a little more in the sensitivity department, for about 40 dollars more the Mhx high mod and Rainshadow Immortal are stellar options. What do you prefer considering taper, action, and flex? What will you be using it for? Answer those questions and people can point you toward the right blank. Asking questions as you are is the best way to weed through the numerous options but we need more information.
  22. You guys are missing out on so many great smallie slayers in this thread! Spro McStick 95 Duo Realis 100,float and suspend Ima Flit 100 - Everyone should own at least one My home run hitter the 2nd half of 2014 was the Yo Zuri 3DB jerkbaits. When I went catching bronze backs on it I was hauling in some healthy rainbows and German Browns
  23. My Rx8+ is one of the best blanks I've stumbled upon thus far. You won't find any better at the price get bit has them listed at, I guarantee it. By the way Batson, that's crazy cool you posted pics of the blanks flex for the Op. Props
  24. Check out the Culprit incredi craw
  25. I say if you're gonna take the time to build a rod, even if it's your 1st build, make it something you're gonna want to use. Way to much trouble to strip down a garbage rod. Check out the Rainshadow Revelation spinning blanks. Cheap enough yet something you'll put to use. Just take your time with the wraps and epoxy. No need to rush.
