  1. new ones around 600 but used you can find alot cheaper. it would be perfect for guys like us wanting to get around in ponds and small lakes, cant go taking it out on the st. johns river or anything. Thing only weighs 100 pounds also. My friend who had one has a jon boat now and told me i can take his prowler if i can get it, problem is he still lives up in Pennsylvania lol
  2. AK i saw you posting about boats, a cheaper alternative and what i have my eye on in the future is a pond prowler. Buddy of mine had one that he towed around w a minivan lol fit 2 people very comfortably also. You could drag it by hand around places as well. He just slapped a trolling motor on the front.
  3. it sounds so easy in my head lol basically you take the two people tied and list their individual fish from longest to shortest. then you compare person As longest to person Bs longest. if As longest fish is longer than Bs then he wins. If they both have the same length longest individual fish then you go to fish number 2 for each person. if these are the same then you go to their 3rd fish and so on. the chances of 2 people catching the same exact lenght of all 5 fish have to be so extremely slim. maybe this helps lol i just figured its something really quick that we can do to handle ties.
  4. We should figure out a tie breaker lol no matter what place its for. Maybe guy with the longest gets the win?? So say LOU has caught all 17" and Zach caught and 18" three 17s" and a 16" zach would win?? Is anybody following this lol. Just a suggestion and if you each have a high of say 17" you just keep working your way down and if you all caught the same exact 5 fish lengths then i give up lol
  5. I think that puts me at 88" and bumps me to sole possession of 9th! lol might have to get out again and try to gain 2" somewhere to jump up a few spots. I think my dreams of repeating last months top 3 finish are put to rest.
  6. d**n im about 10 min to late bc i think this puts me in the top 10. The frogs were absolutely on FIRE tonight. Had 8 hits in just about an hour, unfortunately i was not on fire as i only pulled in one of them. 17" though so not bad (for some of us!) Also noticed thatevery single one of my hits was no more than 2 or 3 feet off the shoreline. I was literally casting on the shore parallel to me and holding my rod way out in front of me and dragging it off the same bank i was standing on. To get a head start on LMGs idea, caught this on a ribbit bullfrog colored, no weight, and using 30# braid.
  7. caught my pb this afternoon (dont laugh people!!!) this tipped my scale at 5.0 on the button and 21". went out from about 10am-1230 not expecting much and didnt get anything til this guy right around noon. got him on a frog surprisingly. and he absolutely demolished it, came all the way out of the water on the strike. ive lost track of my fish but i think im at 4 fish for 72"??
  8. Had some decent luck on my first day off my week hiatus. Caught a little guy on a lizard, missed one on the frog and caught this guy on the frog. Was at my spot that had all the grass hacked down and the only spots i got a hit were on 2 left over patches of weeds. So i think my diagnosis of hacking weeds=no fish is correct. Im gonna call this one 16", it was pretty dang dark out when i got this one so i was just trying to get the tape measure close. With my week off ive totally lost track of where im at, but i believe this is my 3rd fish my guess is 51"?? Lou you may have to confirm/change this.
  9. I saw someone mention on here about their neighborhood pond getting the grass cut around it and their fishing has dropped off. Well this is the same situation at my frogging spot. Used to be knee high grass on shore and into the water a bit, crews came by and hacked EVERYTHING. I mean not a single blade of tall grass left on the shore or in the water and since then ive pulled 1 fish out of there in 2 weeks. Previously i was getting 3-5 hits a night.
  10. Think i picked a bad week to take off. Im way on the outside looking in now. I actually snuck out friday evening for about 1.5 hours and missed one on a senko and a pop-r. Im on the same boat as AK, fish up here have just gone to sleep. We took a pretty good drop in weather about a week or two ago and i thought it would wake the fish up especially on the topwaters but it seems the exact opposite. Im gonna have to get back to my lizards, trick worms, senkos, and flukes more to see if it gets me a change. Still wont be out again until wednesday at the earliest so barring a miracle i think this month im just shooting to get in the top 10! great to see everyone pulling in some very nice fish.
  11. Gave in on my week off, went out tonight for about an hour. Had two misses on my frog. Moved around and went to my previous hot spot for frogs and was without a hit again. My first maybe 3-4 times there it was on fire, now the past 3-4 times its like there isnt a single fish in the area. Cant quite figure it out. Starting to get nice and cool in the evenings here in jax. Havent fished a fall/winter in florida yet, up north when it got cooler fish would love the top waters.....would you guys say the same is the case here?? AK i saw you mentioned that youre gonna be moving to soft plastics, wasnt sure if the weather was the reason.
  12. MCS thats an awesome bluegill you pulled in. Maybe a month or so back i pulled one in that took a swimbait. Couldnt believe it. Just like the bass they are MUCH larger than what i used to catch up in Pennsylvania.
  13. Im on a one week hiatus this week. Im moving apartments this weekend so im using the week to pack/give my spots a little break. Was so tempting to run out this evening w the over cast skys and off and on drizzle. Ive had some of my best luck in this weather. But hopefully i dont slide down to far and maybe the biggens will be woken back up after me not visiting for a few days.
  14. got this 16" tonight on a wacky senko. bite was a little better tonight but my frogging spot has gone dry for some reason. first few times there i was getting 4-6 hits a night, past two times ive had one hit each time, unfortunately missed it tonight. this puts me at 34" so far.
  15. oh hahah d**n i thought you mentioned you were over by UNF for some reason. well i guess its just me then!!
  16. Been slow up here in Jax (looking at jaxbassers apparently only slow on the west side of town) went out this evening only had one miss and one dink. went from senko to fluke to frog. Only hits were on the frog. Might give my spots a break tomorrow and get back at it this weekend if weather permits.
  17. Yeah he was a chubby one, different spot though this is the pond in my apt complex.
  18. Alright im on the board! Was out for about an hour this evening w the frogs, got this one on the hollow body ribbit. Had a relatively slow night though this fish was my only action all evening which was strange for this spot. But a fish none the less and a good start with 18".
  19. Same here lol i thought this was some sort of joke about the tape measure or something.
  20. I am in Lou, hopefully i can hold down my spot in the top 3 again this month!
  21. Sweet ill post it tomorrow....im scraping for inches!
  22. yeah i wish i could go take a 6 1/2 and a 7 and try them both out and pick lol ill shoot you a text, i wont be out in the morning but both monday and tues ill be out during the day ill let you know.
  23. Lou I think you did an awesome job with this months tourney and you definitely get my vote for next months tourney. Quick question, do i have any 16"ers left that i could remove? Caught a 17" yesterday but wasnt sure if id gotten rid of all my 16s. I feel like im getting into some much fatter fish, maybe its just the new spot but its on the same pond so i dont know what to think. Also missed another pig at my new spot again. Its an extremely narrow area so it jumped right in front of me and literally as i was saying to myself thats a monster my frog came flying out. I worked all weekend so im gonna have the day off tomorrow well see what wins me over, GTA V or some day fishing. To jump back to the pole subject. I know im using some pretty light gear. The mono line is definitely going, maybe tomorrow actually. The pole could take some time, like i said ive used 7' poles before and its just so odd to me. My casting is way off and i lost a ton of touch using them as well. I do know i need an update. I think a jump up to 6 1/2" is probably going to be what i do. IN your opinion would i really lose that much with a 6 1/2" instead of 7??
  24. well maybe hell has frozen over but i had some good success on my frogs this evening. Went 3 for 6 nothing worth a picture all about 13-15". But success none the less. Got 2 of them on a bullfrog ribbit and the other on a white zoom horny toad. On the topic of braid, like i said ive never used it or needed it, when i started up here i spooled up some 12 pound mono (up in PA i usually used 6) and i noticed i lost a lot of feel on my lures, mainly my lighter soft plastics. Im hoping that the braid will give me some of the feel back and obviously give me some more strength in my line. On the baitcaster topic, ive never used one of them either. Ive always been intrigued by them but ive strickly been a spinner guy. Honestly if i ever decided to switch id need to do some serious research bc i wouldnt even know where to start. I also use a pretty short pole at 5 1/2 feet, ive found that im much more accurate with my casts with the smaller pole and I feel like i can rip the hook hard and quick. I know the one downfall is i lose some of my ability to eat up slack line on a hookset. Im about due for a new rod, ive had mine for probably 8 years or so but i dont think i could make the jump to a 7' rod, ive fished several before and its just so strange to me.
