  1. went out for about an hour from 4-5 not much action going on. One finicky bite on a frog that i missed and that was it. Not going to be getting out much until next week as my dad is coming to town for the weekend.
  2. Nice fish there! Great color on them. We have been flawless w our trust system here in the FL competition so far, sometimes its difficult to take a perfect picture but I dont think any of us here are desperate enough to cheat for an inch!
  3. as Czar mentioned we spend about 6-7 hours on the water yesterday w AK as our tour guide lol. I only pulled in this 15.5". Had probably 7 misses on the frog a couple nice ones too. We did make some good cop friends though. We got stopped in pontre vedra at a place posted w signs for resident fishing only. We were on the way out anyway so after the cops ran all of our IDs and SEARCHED Czar we headed down the road a bit to the next spot. Probably 30 min later we are leaving another pond in a neighborhood that is in no way gated or marked and i see a cop car come up behind me flicks his lights on. I look back and sure enough its the same cops lol he said they got another call about us but he also said in no way can he keep us from fishing the pond that was unmarked but just that it will be a hassle bc people will keep calling. Sounds pretty ridiculous to me i mean i understand the first pond bc it was marked but i dont care how much you pay for HOA if your ponds arent marked and community isnt gated you shouldnt be able to call about people. but anyway heres my 15.5" puts me at 3 fish for 50.5" i believe. Caught it yesterday on a ribbit frog louisana craw color about 630am right in front of a culvert.
  4. Yes they are the lunker frogs, Lou it's good to get your input I would like to give one a try bc I have heard both good and bad things about them hopefully I can get my hands on one and see if they like em
  5. Nice stash right there! I hit up the gander mountain up by the airport yesterday bc i was in the area and picked up some of those gamblers in june bug. Ive been trying to find those frogs youve got there but havent had luck yet. To chime in on the convo you were having back a forth w mouldie and MCS. I had stopped fishing about 5 years ago bc of college and starting my first job and such. I got down here and after about year i dug up my pole (the one i snapped last week) while moving and decided to pick it back up but literally had nowhere to start. The guys on here have basically gotten me started back up from square one. And everyone has been more than willing to share some spots lures and techinques. Running into people out on the water i mostly get from them their big one that got away story.
  6. spinner. yeah we had that heavy wind the other day in two of my ponds the wind blew directly across my face and i cant get to the side of the bank that puts it behind me in the 3rd pond i tried i got it at my back but it put me on the bank that i usually cast onto and roll down into the pond lol just my luck! I didnt have any problem w the frog in the wind i just think the rough waters take away a bit from the action of the frog. Maybe the wind will change direction this time around and help me out!
  7. I believe youre math is a bit off (clearly so was mine lol) from my count i have that 21" caught right at the beginning and now this 14" that should put me at 35". I mean id love to take the extra inches lol but I reluctantly will give them back. I guess i could give it a shot just have to shrink my lure selection last time throwing soft plastic senkos and lizards was impossible.
  8. got out this afternoon/evening from about 4-6. Pretty slow day for me only got one on a ribbit frog louisana craw color right around 5pm, missed one other hit. Tossed it right out in front of a culvert and fish hit it immediately. Only 14" but ill take it. puts me at 28 for the month. Threw a KVD crank in sexy shad color for the other hour w/ no luck. Im not to familiar w the crank bait and never really have throw one before but i think its a pretty valuable lure to get a handle on. This may be my last day out til saturday when i get out w AK. Friday's forecast is again calling for 25-35mph winds so im already cancelling my fishing for that day lol.
  9. I picked up a pack of the rattlesnakes too after i saw MCS post. MCS i thik you said you used the 4.75. All i saw were 3.75 and 4.5 so i figured it was a typo and you meant the 3.75?? Like jaxbasser said brutal day up here hopefully it clears up by wednesday, that will be my next chance to get out.
  10. haha sorry sorry, got an all star ASmicro worm rod, 6'8" MH power XF action
  11. Im liking all the organization that Lou and LMG are putting together. Really tough day up here in jax. winds were absolutely howling steady. 30 mph winds w 40 gusts made it tough sledding. Tried throwing the senko but i couldnt get a handle on it w/ the wind. Threw a frog for a bit and had 3 misses, only one was of any size that i saw. Would have been a perfect day w very overcast skys but the wind just killed me. Got out this morning and got myself a new rod and was pretty happy with it. I feel like i can cast a mile w this thing compares to my ultra light lol. definitely going to take some time to get used to casting w such a longer and stiffer rod (that sounds pretty funny) but i think it will help me in the long run.
  12. Super busy weekend for me, we had the florida georgia football game here in Jacksonville so I put in just over 20 hours of work yesterday and today (I work at the football stadium). Tomorrow is my off day so im on a mission to get myself a new rod and hopefully see how she handles some fish tomorrow. My wife was up in Louisville this past week for an FFA event and the souvenir she brought me back was a literal pile of ribbit double hooks size 5 from the bass pro she went to up there. I have only found them ever one time here in Jax and it was 1 pack lol, i think mainly bc AK buys out every store before i can get there hahahah. Looks like everyone had some big weekends, i see lots of people put up 5 fish already so im on a mission tomorrow.
  13. hey guys florida fisherman here. This evening i snapped my 12 year old ultra light rod catching my PB bass (6lbs dont laugh!) Im in need of a new rod, problem is i literally have never bought myself a rod lol the one i snapped is the only rod i ever remember having I used to live in Pennsylvania and it worked fine for catching 2 pound bass. I know the ultra light is just not enough for bass down here so i need to bulk up. I dont want to lose the high sensitivity i had w that rod. I throw alot of frogs but i also throw a fair amount of soft plastics (senkos, lizards, flukes etc) as well as rapalas and poprs. If you guys could give me any help i would greatly appreciate it. im trying to stay in the 100$ or less price range.
  14. Ok im on the hunt for the new rod. I like the look of the BPS carbonlites, im looking at the Johnny Morris ones. I really dont want to lose the high sensativity that i had w my ultra lite rod but obviously i want to beef up. Is there a real huge difference between the medium lite, medium and medium heavy?? For those who dont know im pretty big on the frogs but i also use a fair amount of soft plastics (senkos, flukes, lizards) as well as some rapalas. Like i said i literally havent bought a rod for myself in my lifetime lol which is weird but ive just always had the same one. I appreciate the help!
  15. Yes absolutely. Especially since it was a 5 foot ultra light rod lol i knew it was gonna go at some point but thats been the only rod ive owned since i was about 12 years old so its like losing a friend lol. It worked fine up in pennsylvania catching 1-2 pounders but just wasnt gonna hang down here. Now im gonna be in search of a new rod, im accepting suggestions from anyone lol. im a spinning reel guy so thats what im after.
  16. haha as AK said ive got a bit of a story for you guys. I was up in georgia this afternoon for work and im heading back home around 5pm and i decided to stop at my spot on my way home bc i knew as soon as i got home i was gonna crash. So i stopped by the pond, was working the banks w frogs (pad crasher jr and ribbit) for about 30 min with no luck. I got a text from AK asking if i was heading out this weekend, 3 minutes later another text telling me he caught a nice 19" on a frog. I was just about to the end of the pond so i figured id finish out the 10 min and text back. Sure 2 minutes after i get his text BOOM my frog gets annihilated. I saw it from the hit and knew it was a pig. she was a jumper too so im burying my rod trying to keep it down and praying it doesnt spit me. I get the head out of the water on shore and snap! there goes my rod tip i quickly snatched my line and drug it on shore. Ill call this 21" bc my tape was a bit off and weighed in at 6lbs (like a true fisherman im doubting the accuracy of my scale lol ive held 6 pounds before and i thought for sure this one was 7-8). but with 6 pounds thats my personal best! and second time in 2 weeks ive caught my PB at this pace ill have a 10# by the end of the month hahahaha. Ill put this in the big fish category just to give you southies something to beat by 3-4 pounds here soon lol. For LMG this was caught at 530pm on a ribbit frog louisana craw color, 30#braid, ultra light rod (which is now broken lol) caught it over open water about 20 feet off shore. nothing special just a straight retrieve. and by the way IM IN!!
  17. yep ill be there. I think 90 is my highest total since i started a few months back, maybe i had 92 last month i dunno. Lou maybe the first post on the next month you can post the top 10 in there as well as here. That way if we get a new guy he can see what hes up against.
  18. haha yeah honestly i had no plans on going out this evening, was gonna hit the gym for some racquetball but after seeing i was only 1.5" from jumping 2 spots i baically HAD to go out lol.
  19. Well i got what i needed tonight! got this 18" on a ribbit frog louisana craw color. I think i needed 1.5" to jump a spot or two and this should cull one of my 16"s. Only was out for about 30 min bc kids walking through the neighborhood near my pond kept asking me what my costume was lol.
  20. yep my wife is the spider killer, and roaches too i hate those suckers. when i moved into my first apartment a few years ago i was moving by myself and all of a sudden giant roach goes scurrying across the room and stops in a corner, i musta stood there for 15 minutes just trying to figure out how to get this thing out without getting any closer. i feel like were gonna have to change this thread to confessions of a beta male lol
  21. hahahah dude i know the feeling everyone gives me a hard time about my hate of spiders. Again saw one at opcc probably about the size of a plastic bottle cap in a spot i was gonna walk, had probably 10 feet on either side to pass by it but i wasnt taking any chances hahah especially down here, im not used to having widows around.
  22. yeah i wouldnt either lol fishing in OPCC last week i would be nervous w a kayak after seeing a gator there that could swallow me whole. i would definitely be taking my trusty sidearm w me.
  23. when i lived up in PA i had a little rubber raft i used to fish out of. Inflated w a pump i hooked up to my car battery, thing was absolutely perfect for me. Minus the paddling lol and only good for one person. that would be your cheapest option.
  24. i have a feeling Lou is gonna try to cut down on ninjas!! lol look out AK
  25. yeah im going up there for christmas and for his wedding in the next few months, im debating flying up and renting a truck and driving back down. It fits in the bed of a full size truck. If i get it my wife can kiss the tool box she has in the truck goodbye lol
