  1. Rod will feel overloaded, 4oz too heavy for this rod. I like it for 1-2.5oz. Look at the crucial A-Rig rod. BEEASSSTT HUNTER
  2. I disagree with everything said. Fluoro is so unmanageable. It is like using chicken wire. 20lb test? I go with powerpro. Wayyyyyyyyy Stronger!!*!*!*!*!*
  3. X ship good for smooth power retrieve
  4. 16 grams hvy? Do that makr lite bait cast short n heavy long
  5. Tis is a sport. Compete right? Make er a sport
  6. Make sure whatever reel you get has the patented line management system. I am fairly certain the ones you mentioned do, but I would take that feature over X-ship. But better to have both!
  7. I would love objectivity but I am looking for opinions For Example: The furthest casting Casting Reel I have used outside of this range is a Daiwa Z200H, Furthest Inside of this range is a T3 MX, with full ceramic bearings and a very fine polish, with a spool upgrade.
  8. I was wondering what is the furthest casting low profile baitcasting reel ever made (or used by you)? $ not an issue and if you have upgrades to the reel, make certain to mention them. In this scenario, lets assume that the rod being used is held constant. The reel must be effective at casting anything from 1/4-3/4oz baits. EDIT: Hear-Say and furthest reel you have personally used
  9. I have read the larger profile of the hippy jig is good for targeting larger bass. Do u catch qty of fish aswell or just size. Hippy vs hair.....which 1?
  10. How heavy of squarebills are you looking to throw? So far, all of the techniques you mentioned will be perfect for this rod. I

  12. Hey Jizzy. Try sending an email through their system explaining you work Monday to Friday during their hours of operation. Explain your problem and leave your contact information saying you would like to talk to someone. Got a voicemail this morning from a lady representing herself as St. Croix. Called back and here we are. Maybe if you were off St. Croix's pole you'd realize people actually work during normal operating hours and there are ways to contact a company outside of mon-fri. I'd like to know the contact information of the customer service manager. I'd like an explanation for their representative.
  13. Strength to weight measurements are the most effective objective measurement at the moment. If two rods have the same strength, the lighter rod is likely more sensitive. I agree, graphite measurements are often innacurate and do not always lead to effective sensitivitiy ratings. I see of it as more of a marketing theme. Good examples are a k2 vs SCV vs NFC HM.....these blanks all have similar strength to weight ratios, and produce similarly sensitive rods if the same components are used.
  14. Rockchalk...I'll help you out The rod broke on a hookset. Your analogies are farce. I bought the rod with a "warranty". The rod broke while fishing it, yes fishing it. How about taking a brand new car out for the third time and it breaks down for good during normal operation. Guess it was abused. Do you work for St. Croix? That offer is far from gracious. Buy a rod from wally world, if it breaks, bring back in your receipt and get a new one. I bought the rod in august of this year. Used 3 trips I am sure you know how my rod was treated better than I do. Why not. Amazon sells rods with Prime shipping. That includes prepaid shipping labels to send it back. The nearest fedex is 30 miles away. My truck isn't good on gas, do the math. Also, I would like to know where you recieved your data? 99.9% are the users fault? How would you even know the first day if it was bad. I guess if it broke then that would be an indication. A microscopic fracture from manufacturer error or from how the mfg. decides to handle and package the product could lead to damage. This could grow overtime and cause a rod to break. That would not be the users fault.
  15. Lets see what we've concluded here. All rods that break are due to personal abuse. So basically all rods are indestructible while fishing, unless one "abuses" it. I am arrogant and I need to "man up". Hard for a rod to take so much abuse being fished 3 times since I bought it August 6th. Sits neatly in a rod locker, and gets the same treatment as all my other rods. Not cheap one's either. Its amazing how well you all know how I treat my rods. I guess if a customer service representative, who represents the company is rude, its the customers fault. Thanks for the input.
  16. The rep did not say the rod was insensitive or tip heavy. That was my opinion. I dont find it unreasonable for a prepaid shipping label. Id have to spend $20 in gas to get to a store and whatever the tube and shipping costs. Amazon sends prepaid shipping labels. What's the big deal if their customer service is so good. My friend broke the rod on a hookset. I watched as it happened. A few inches of the tip snapped. My biggest issue was the lady was rude and not helpful and was persistenly trying to make me buy this upgraded rod. I called for customer service not a rude saleswoman. I have a combination of 7 croixs. All legend tournament or higher. I let my buddies use them on my boat because I don't care for them. This bothers me. I got her name and I plan on taking it to her boss.
  17. My loaner rod Broke a legend tournament mhxf. Spoke to a lady who kept pushing me to upgrade. Felt she was rude. I told her I wanted my rod replaced. So she keeps telling me I should spend all this money for an extreme when the tournament was already tip heavy and insensitive. Anyways, she told me to ship it in pieces to save money. Thought that was strange. Why won't they pay for my shipping I asked. She got real snobby and said that I have to pay for something. So I asked if she could send me a rod tube because I'd have to buy that too. But no they dont do that. Anyways im just going to chalk this rod up as broke. Im disgusted with how rude she was. Its not worth it to me. I'll buy a different rod. Sucks because I own so many croixs. Anyways rant over
  18. Just don't bring a lady friend with you. That black neoprene sends the wrong message. Unless your into that kind of thing. On a serious note. It is good for sweaty hands. Bad for cold weather. It hardens and is difficult to grip.
  19. Thanks for clarifying that. I would never consider this savy for bottom contact. Alright frog rod. Still prefer the champion. But as a gift? Give em a Croix. It will show you have a sense of humor.
  20. You make an excellent point for using fine equipment. Those light pickups are d**n near impossible without a quality rod and line. Ive fished blindfolded before as a sensitivity test. I know what its like. People lose more fish than they think because they don't ever know the bass picked up their bait. Its not a big deal unless your competing
  21. Gary Loomis Green NRX 893c Megabass Nautilus F5-76X Megabass F3-610X4S Aaron Martens Limited Gary Loomis GLX 852BSR (modified, took out the recoils, replaced with ceramic guides) Megabass F7-77X Record Breaker I also have a Few St. Croix on deck that I let my friends use. In case they break them or whatever I can get them replaced. Nice rods for letting others use. I care less about cranking. Not my style.
  22. Very manageable. Kills FC in manageability. Right below Tatsu in manageability. It works well for spinning gear on a budget fellas. Save yourself from insensitive slack lines. Stretch is the downside. Go with BAWO Finesse FC, if you feel like going up a notch. Good line right there.
  23. Line watching is what I call "Using Braid Syndrome". When the line is slack, its the only way to know if a fish is took a swipe. Many people don't even know how many hits they've missed because of ZERO sensitivity in slack line with braid. Then they claim "great hookup ratio". Yeah, except you didn't count the ones you didn't even know that bit. A sensitive rod with fluorocarbon, and you will not need to watch your line.
  24. Not as well balanced as most of the dobyns lineup. I had to put a calais 200 on it to get it to balance. Strange bcuz dobyns balance great. Jigs and texas rigs? Disagree is what I say! definitely not worthy of those techniques. Its so dead. I will let it slide for frog fishing, but no sensitivity in this rod. Only thing worse is a St. Croix premier. On the other hand. The Champion 735 is fantastic. Balances much better, is a horse. And is decent enough to pitch into cover. Shes my dedicated frogging rod. Yup!
