  1. That's hilarious. Bass Resource won't even let me write "wired to fish" (the way it's supposed to be spelled), let alone post the link. Srsly BR?
  2. Timely *** article on your bull shad http://www.***/outdoors/***/story/1578801-how-to-catch-giant-bass-on-big-shad-swimbaits
  3. I don't blame em after fishing hillsdale all summer!
  4. I'm down provided somebody's got an open back seat
  5. I'm confused, I thought it was a crappie jig
  6. Ahem... cough... look over here..,.
  7. LOZ holds Table Rock sized footballs for sure. That pic above is also my pb spot at 3.25 and had a head flat like a shovel... they will just crush a jerkbait down there.
  8. It was fun, good numbers but no size to write home about. Tubes drew in the dinks, and a finesse spinnerbait ahead of or through current seams drew the better bites. Probably should have thrown more topwater but didn't see/hear a single fish surface the entire time.
  9. Hahaha... Well son, you were conceived in a Coleman.
  10. Man... all this talk about kids has me looking forward to this float trip hah
  11. Oh man, last time we floated the Elk was in mid-July drought a few summers back, which is what happens when you agree to a trip scheduled by a girl that knows nothing about floating... anyway, half the float was spent dragging over rocks with floating moss pads everywhere, but the smallmouths were just CRUSHING topwater all around us. I didnt have a stick with me, it was torture. A local told me guys were catching 18" fish on horny toads... yeah I'm bringing a few packs this time! I was thinking green pumpkin and coppertreuse for da neds depending on what the water's looking like. Definitely gonna bring some craw papis and small shaky heads per Clayton's advice. I'll let u guys know how it goes.
  12. haha nice! looks like I'll be prerigging the night before... wonder how many line guides I'll miss lol
  13. Thanks man. I'm trying to set low expectations because I know the river will be a party, we'll see how it goes.
  14. Here we go with another party float... good news is this time the lady and I will have our own canoe and a couple sticks I know at least a few guys on here are very familiar with the Elk *cough* Bluebasser... Here's what I'm thinking the lineup will look like (looking to travel light) Rapala Skitter Pop Stanley Ribbit 1/8oz, 3 1/2" GP Finesse Tube Tiny Deep Rebel Craw - light green/orange T3/32oz Ned Rig - pbj and green pumpkin Am I missing anything?
  15. St. Croix Mojo Bass and Lews Custom Speed Sticks. Both hit under $150, are sensitive, durable, and great bang for your buck. The 6'6" M Mojo is a sick jerkbait stick, but it's also great with spooks and light-medium duty cranking. The 7'2" Lews handles 3/8-1/2 oz jigs like a pro, but it's also great with spinnerbaits and t rigs. I'm a bang for your buck fisherman. I rarely spend over $200 on any reel or rod and these are my favorite all around sticks. They'll give you just as much edge as anybody else you're fishing against (or with)
  16. He's got those full-moon night fish patterned huh!
  17. Like Blue said it's going to be hard to find anything of quality in the $40-60 range. I actually spent $80 on an Abu Garcia Vendetta 6'6" M that handles a shaky head very well, but no cork grips. That's likely one of the least expensive rods you're going to find that can fish one well.
  18. I mean what else needs to be said. Hit the nail on the head.
  19. At this price point it would be VERY hard to turn me away from a St. Croix Avid X. The only thing that line doesn't address for me would be an A-rig / swimbait rod, at which point I'd step down to a Mojo for the added stiffness and durability. Megabass always has a place in my tackle box, I'd just rather stick with a rod company that's been serving the market at that price point for a long time. AND BECAUSE MURICA. :USA:
  20. Sounds like you've already got the ideal rod for shaky head fishing with that 7' M Duckett. Think of fishing a shaky head like a scaled down version of a jig. You're on the bottom, you've got a much bigger hook than most drop shot applications, and you may have a good deal of line out. You're going to need a stronger hookset than fishing a drop shot. Always use the right tool for the job.
  21. Saturday afternoon at LOZ - in the kayak, mid-day boat traffic, 1/2 oz football jig, and out of 20 FOW. Sometimes you just gotta work for em!
  22. All this should tell you is that nobody is gaining anything from your post, other than you saw pics of some guys from the little apple hoisting some toads at melvern...
