You want a little give to a pitching stick and you dont want it any longer then 7'6" or a heavy action. Having give in the rod gives you versatility which is what you need. I prefer a 7'3" MH *** from ***. Its balanced and sensative plus has a good price tag. Working at Gander Mountian has allowed me to test alot of price point friendly rods and these seem to be the most solid ones yet for $100 price point. This rod provides you give which makes it easier to pitch skip under docks but has the length you need for leverage and control. I'd put 15lb to 17lb fluoro. I prefer seagar red label 17lb but thats personal prefernce. I hope this helps!!
Hey guys, i just brought my boat out today and for some reason the key wasnt wanting to go into the ignition. After about 3 hours it finally went in, but would not turn over. i could really use some help because i have a tournament on Sunday and need this fixed tomorrow!! Please help me haha.
Howdy guys!
I am in the market for a new heavy cover frog rod and was wondering what your favorite frog rods are and if you have any suggestions!
I am looking at....
*** *** 7'3" Heavy
Halo Fishing Twilite Red 7'6" Medium Heavy
Cashion Rods 7'4" Medium Heavy
If you guys have any other rods that have worked well for you let me know!!
B.T.W. I was going to pair it up with a Quantum Smoke 151 7.3:1 with 65lb braid!
What type of rod should I use for skipping jigs? I usually skip plastics with one of my spinning set ups. I was thinking about throwing 1/4 ounce to 1/2 ounce jigs around wood and metal boat docks. So what length power and action should I use?
Okay. How much line should I have out and what would the rod angle be at. I have heard that some people lift there rod tip up towards the end of the skip to help prevent backlashes.
Hey guys! I am having a horrible time trying to skip baits under docks with a bait caster. I have watched (well what I believe) almost every YouTube video on skipping with a Baitcaster imaginable lol. I have tried all sorts of reels, from a Abu Garcia silver max all the way up to a Quantum Smoke. I have also tried rod lengths. I know the reel is set up right. I'm lost:( please help!!
From personal experience I have found that the cheaper Diawas such as the Laguna or Exelier are not the highest quality reels. Which is true for most reels that are below $90. I had thrown away a couple of Diawas because of mechanical failure and so began my thoughts of cheap Diawas suck lol. But I decided to buy another Exelier just to give it another try and found that if I cleaned and added a little lube once a week that it was reliable enough for me to go fish my club tourneys! Although I have a solid cheap Diawa reel now I still prefer the Abu Garcia Max family of reels. They can go almost the whole summer without maintenance. They are also very light and super smooth. If you are looking for cheap reels expect the quality you have payed for if you aren't willing to go the extra mile and keep them clean! Hope this helps anybody in the low end reel market:)
