  1. No it is not touching anywhere. A couple of my guides look bent slightly down, but they might be supposed to be that way because that is the way it came in. Thanks
  2. I just got Abu Garcia Revo SX and 7' micro magic Duckett rod combo. When I reel the line in it makes a noise on the rod like the line is rubbing against the graphite. I am using 12 lbs. line and they are threaded through every eye. Is this normal or is something wrong?
  3. O.K, I will go with medium.
  4. I am thinking about purchasing the Pfluger Supreme XT reel to pair with my St. Croix Premier Spinning 7' rod I am thinking about purchasing. the reel is fresh/saltwater. If I paid the same amount for a strictly freshwater reel would it be a more quality reel? Am I paying for the ability to fish saltwater?
  5. I am going to get the St. Croix Premier Spinning rod, 7', fast action rod and was debating on getting a medium or medium heavy power. What weight bait is most common? I usually fish the texas rig in less than 25 feet of water, but I use all other baits too. What power should I get? I have been using a browning medium light power rod (about $40), but I can't tell the difference between hitting the bottom and getting a bite. I also can never set the hook. What power should I get?
  6. Is the Pfluger Supreme highly priced because it is a good reel or because you can use it in saltwater. If you were to buy a strictly freshwater reel for the same price would it be a better reel?
  7. I would most likely be using 8-10 pound test 90% of the time. Maybe 12 pound during tournaments.
  8. I like that Pflueger Supreme XT. Would a size 40 be to big? The size 40 will hold 8, 10, and 12 pound test and the St croix Premeir rod is made for line from 8-14 pound line. What gear ratio should I get? Here is the link to their website http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/Pflueger®-Supreme-XT-Spinning-Reel/1280300,default,pd.html#start=5.
  9. Up to 150 for the reel.
  10. What brand is that? I might could spend up to 150. I think I need lots of ball bearings.
  11. How many IPT is slow, fast, or medium? The Abu Garcia STX has a 4:8:1 that is 30" per turn, a 5:1:1 that is 29" per turn, a 5:1:1 that is 27" per turn, and a 5:1:1 that is 24" per turn. Does anyone own this real? It has a good review here http://www.bestcovery.com/best-spinning-fishing-reel. How can I tell if it will fit the St. Croix premier rod well? Thanks!!
  12. I really like the Abu Garcia Soron STX reel, but the gear ratio is 5:1:1. Is that to slow? I fish most all lures. Do I need a 6:4:1? Thanks
  13. My object species is black bass.
  14. What spinning reel should I get? I am thinking I am going to buy the St. Croix premier 7', medium heavy, and fast action. Thanks
  15. I dont know. Has anybody used Duckett fishing rods?
  16. Thanks! Any thoughts on which reel (spinning or baitcasting) I should get? Thanks
  17. Should I go Spinning or Casting? I am just learning to use a casting rod, but for a good spinning or a good baitcaster it is about the same price. I use everything, but primarily soft plastics. I fish in both lakes, rivers, and ponds when possible and just fished my first tournament (8th). Thanks
  18. Its on thier facebook page. Maybe it is just the mad people that post.
  19. Thanks! I was going to go with St. Croix, but I heard their service was bad. I am glad to hear it is not. Are the Avids really worth the extra $80?
  20. What are some thoughts on the St. Croix Mojo Bass rods? How about the Fenwick Aetos? There is a price difference. Is it really worth the extra money? Fenwick also has an $89 version, HMX, but it is not as high quality of graphite as the HMG. Also should I go with spinning or bait cast? I have just learned to use a bait cast. Thanks!
  21. Thanks for the comment. The reason I like Fenwick is that it is an old brand and they stand behind their product. I heard that they will replace your pole with no questions asked.
  22. I am looking at a Fenwick HMG 7', medium heavy, rod with a moderate fast action. I originally wanted a fast action, but Fenwick did not have one in that model. Is a moderate fast action between medium and fast? I use most all baits, but probably use soft plastics such as worms and lizards the most. Is the moderate fast action good for me or do I need to find one with a fast action? Thanks for any replies.
