  1. What the....
  2. Yes, fishing is a sport. Most people think that it's just casting out a worm under a bobber and letting it sit. We have to practice to be able to get better. Just yesterday, I spent 3 hours practicing skipping out on my pool (and learning how to get backlashes out). We have to spend hours on the water just to learn a section of a lake.
  3. Sweet Beaver
  4. Very impressed by this jig, decided to put it in the sink with a chigger craw and the jig's skirt flared out perfectly, the head stayed nice and upright, really allowing the pincers to point upward.
  5. Kistler's look amazing and I have heard many good reports but they are still a little too expensive even with the discount.
  6. The Abu Veracity has a 7'6 option that can handle 1/2 oz to 2oz lures with a fast tip.
  7. I really enjoy flipping and pitching jigs and punching rigs, in fact, it's my favorite technique. Right now I have three baitcasters (Abu Vengeance 7' MDM with a Shimano Caenan, Abu Veritas 7' MHM with a Abu Pro Max, and a Falcon HD 7' MHM with a Quantum) I have been looking at some rods and reels for flipping and pitching. My bass club is sponsored by Abu so we can get most products 50% off and Kistler products at a significant discount. I recently got the Veritas and have been more than impressed. I was looking at some rods in the 7'6 Heavy Fast or Extra Fast range and the Revo SX. What are some of y'alls suggestions? Thanks.
  8. I'm very much guilty of fishing too fast. I sometimes have to actually tell myself "be the rod" or "be the bait" and slow down and actually feel it.
  9. How are you working them? I was always just working it like a Texas Rig (hop hop, reel slack, hop hop) until I watched one of Glenn's videos and he pointed out that you don't usually see crawfish flying through the water column haha. He then pointed out that you just want to drag it slowly a couple of times then twitch it.
  10. Thanks for the tip
  11. My local tackle store now carries Siebert jigs! I finally got a chance to get one! I got the Brush jig in Bama Craw 3/4oz. I cannot upload a picture, the iPhone pictures are always too big
  12. Stout little piggies right there
  13. Alberto beat me to it. I have heard some not so good reports in the last couple weeks.
  14. Trick worms. I absolutely hate senkos, have only caught one fish on them in about 20-30 trips of throwing them. Trick worms are my good ju-ju bait. Anything by Zoom catches me fish.
  15. I always had trouble rigging the toads with a EWG
  16. I was out on the canoe a couple days ago and found one in a tree. Score!
  17. How did you guys gain confidence in fishing? I have been fishing for about 7 months and caught around 20 fish. I do monthly tournaments and have a blast. I always catch fish in them. But I bank fish a lot by myself and do not really have confidence in my abilities. I go to a pond and do not really now what to throw and I usually start out with weightless plastics or weighted t rigs. I don't really know what it is but I never think "If I do this or cast here, I'm gonna catch one". I just cast it out there and go through the motions. I don't know if it's just bad luck or what but I never really catch fish bank fishing and completely forget what I learn from all the hours of reading and video watching. I know people who go out to the same ponds I do and throw the same thing on the same setup and catch fish all the time. I do the exact same thing they do and don't catch a thing.
  18. I did this once and caught a 10 incher
  19. Pancreatitus is terrible, I got it last year
  20. As a fellow Texan, I think I can suggest a few things. If you're not using it already, I would suggest fluorocarbon. I was using braid with a mono leader and caught about 4 fish from July to mid September. I recently got a new rod and threw on fluoro and got a couple of strikes immediately on the first trip. Also I do not know if you got any of the rain in San Antone but try darker colors like black/blue or black/purple. It takes a lot of getting skunked to be able to learn bass fishing.
  21. Palomar knot and the canoe with a trolling motor would actually be better than the pontoon. It would be better because you could get into those creek channels and get closer to cover without spooking the fish.
  22. That's some good painting for early 1900s
  23. A good tip I learned from one of Glenn's (Bassresource) videos, was that a largemouth's jaws extend past the eye and smallies and spots go to the front of the eye or before the eye. Also with smallies, they sometimes have red eyes and some have tiger-like stripes while some are just brown.
  24. Hey everyone, I love to fish crankbaits but want to get into fishing lipless cranks. The things I have trouble with are which weights go to which depth and how to fish them. If anyone has any tips on either of these, thanks.
  25. Got some 832, used mono as backing, cast a few outside. Blown away.
