  1. As long as you don't keep it. Those big fish are critical to the population.
  2. Big worms. Zoom Mag Ol' Monsters
  3. We have a lake around here where fish will come out of 50 feet of water and hit a topwater.
  4. Got mine in December, didn't catch any the first few times. Went out a couple week ago and caught 4 fish, the biggest going 5 pounds in one trip. It outfished my friend and produced for three trips after that. Good bait!
  5. It's pretty rare to have a true bass fisherman keep fish. I really want to say something to people who keep fish but can't because they aren't breaking any laws.
  6. That sucks a lot. Having trouble picturing KVD motoring up to him and asking if he wants a couple crankbaits haha.
  7. I am split on what crankbait rod to get. I can get the Abu Veracity Winch which is usually $150 for $68. But I was looking at the Powell Diesel 705 CB glass rod for $70. Input is appreciated. Thanks. http://www.powellco.com/Powell-Diesel-Series/Diesel-Casting-Rods/Diesel-705-CB-Glass http://www.abugarcia.com/products/rods/veracity
  8. Black/Blue, Chartreuse
  9. I wasn't disagreeing, I was trying to go more in depth to my initial request. One of the reasons I asked the initial question was because I was afraid the rod was going to break. I don't disagree with any of the responses. I appreciate all the responses
  10. My fear was that the bait would break the rod but then I realized that I've hauled in a 10+ pound fish so the 2oz bait shouldn't be a problem.
  11. I want to throw a 6" deluxe or 68 Special which are 2oz but don't want to spend the money to buy a big bait rod. Is there any way I could get away throwing these baits on a MH rated for 1oz baits? Thanks
  12. Just like they say, everything is bigger in Texas! The finest bass fishing lake in my opinion in the state is Lake Austin, about 30 minutes away from me. In fact, I have a tournament there this Saturday. A ShareLunker was pulled out today, weighed 13.8 About a month ago, a tournament was held there and the winning stringer was 41 pounds.
  13. Anything moving. Specifically, anything with treble hooks. Those dang things have caught me more plastic bags than fish. I'm alright with a spinnerbait or chatterbait, I just have more fun with slow baits.
  14. I caught a 10.2 beast the other day with two witnesses, AND the fish was weighed on a BOGA. Still had a person on my bass club call BS on it. Some people just need to stop being jealous.
  15. I usually use Gama 4/0 EWG for Texas Rigs, Carolina Rigs, Flipping and Pitching and anything else imvolving a big worm. For wacky, I use the VMC 1/8oz. Wacky Jig head. I recently got a 25 pack of H2O Express 4/0 EWGs for $3 so I've been throwing those lately.
  16. Hello all, I have a question about fishing in ultra clear water. I got a Tarpon 120 for Christmas and have been fishing a local lake. The lake is very very clear, visibility is down to about 13 feet. There are a lot of dead tree overhangs with hundreds of small bass and occasional 7-10 pounders. I had been catching them with wacky finesse worms until last week when the water got even clearer and the fish got super skittish. I have been mostly hitting the water by noon. The spawn is about to begin here as the fish are up shallow. I was thinking about throwing something along the lines of a BBB Warmouth now. If anyone could please give me some tips, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
  17. I like Gama EWG 4/0. 3/0 seems too small and 5/0 seems too big for the standard creature bait. I use 4/0 for everything, from baby brush hogs to mag ol' monsters.
  18. We have an "arctic blast" moving in today and the next couple days. The temps. yesterday were in the 80s and they are moving into the 30s today. Most likely it will get below freezing. It should warm up a week or so before the tournament.
  19. The turtle was weird but the weirdest thing I have ever caught were fish guts. The guts of a bass filled with bluegill. I had to somehow get the guts off without touching them and without hitting myself with them while flailing them around. I eventually had to set them on the ground and cut them off with my knife.
  20. I went to my local pond last month after heavy rain and it was chocolate milk. Could not even see two inches. I was using a black trick worm wacky rigged. I felt a tap-tap and set the hook. The creature surfaced and it was a turtle. I am terrified of amphibious creatures so when I saw it, I just let it swim around hoping it would come off. It surfaced again and hissed at me. It eventually came off and when I brought my hook in, it was covered in white feathers. There are ducks in that pond so I don't know if he was eating a duck or what.
  21. I have a tournament coming up in a couple weeks on Lake Travis. I have never been on this lake. The lake is down about 50 feet. The lake has rocky banks, steep cliffs and clear water. There are docks, drop offs, rockpiles, and ledges. I need help on what to throw in these situations. I heard about football jigs being productive and baby rattlesnakes on a shakey head. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.
  22. Yep, Jensen's Fishing Tackle.
  23. It is indeed an addiction, got three more today. Two arkys in 1/4oz. in Blue Craw and Blue Bug, and a brush in 3/4 oz. in Brown Metallic Purple.
  24. Vol. 3 and All Hope is Gone are some of the best written albums I have ever listened to. I listen to both those albums every day. On All Hope is Gone, Gematria is the best written song I have ever heard. It's a shame they don't play it live. I like Tool too
