  1. Wish i had that problem around here lol.
  2. i have no clue what the bass think, but fishing next to my friend that is set in his was with 30lb hi vis mono and a zebco 808 i can tell you that he never leaves happy. he rarely cathes a fish even when the bite is on.
  3. Thanks for the tips guys, i think i will try to fish it. I have no problem leaving at a moments notice if asked. The lake only has about 14 houses near it and by the looks of it prob elderly folks. my plan is to drive by in prime fishing times and try to meet someone fishing that may be a resident, i have no problem striking up a good fishing conversation on the spot haha. i will report back when i either fish it or get shot lol.
  4. I rip it open and put it in the tackle box as soon as i get it, even if it won't see the water for months lol.
  5. I found a lake close to my house i didn't know was there on google earth, so i went and checked it out. I must say that this lake looks amazing, only one problem, sign says "residents only" blah blah blah. My question is have any of you had this problem and overcome it? Is there anyway around it, such as trying to meet someone in the neighborhood? I know odds are against me but just wondering if anyone has had any luck.
  6. Great to hear all the opinions guys. im gonna do some swim jig shopping this weekend and hopefully fill up a box with them, thanks again.
  7. Nice yak for sure. they are made just up the road from me and build some quality products. i would look into a fish/depth finder and an anchor trolly, but like DarrenM said, use it several times to be sure where you want things.
  8. I fish all different kinds of baits, and enjoy them all but one thing i'm lacking is swim jigs. I can honestly say i have never fished one. i wanna hear all anyone has to offer.
  9. I keep my scale, a berkley multitool, extra line, and a small plano box of grubs all in the top front pocket.
  10. went out yesterday and caught a few in a short amount of time on a Rapala Slashbait in firetiger, water was 47 degrees visibility 3-4 feet. No luck on rouges or jigs.
  11. might not sound good to most, but if i'm out all day i carry a can of chunky chicken noodle soup and sit it in the sun, no spoon required just drink it lol.
  12. Well guys, i wasen't planning on buying one so soon but i made a trip to bass pro tonight to pick up some soft plastics and walked over to the kayaks to find the Ascend D10T on sale for 329 bucks because they discontinued the color. I was hesitant at first so i had them take it down for me to check out, i sat in it and loved it, even more than my own yak.It is alot wider than what i am used to paddling and the bottom is flat so i am pretty sure it will be plenty stable, also the guy at bass pro was very knowledgeable as he owned 7 yaks of his own and told me all the good things about it along with some of the complanits and how to fix them easily if i would like (not typical of a salesman). Needless to say i we will be at the lake tomorrow for her first voyage! Thanks for all the suggestions, and wish me luck trying to get her in it hahaha.
  13. Well that was unexpected lol.
  14. I have that same Bass Pro bag and i love it, i have 4 boxes in the bottom and 6 in the top. for my soft plastics i clip a soft plastics binder to the side of the bag. also i love the fact that i can unzip the bottom part of the bag, because i fish from a kayak, boat, and sometimes from shore so it is a quick way to adjust what tackle i that on that day.
  15. Thanks for the advice, i may have to try hopping them down rock ledges where i fish, sounds like it should work pretty well.
  16. I have had both, and minn kota has been my best, never let me down on an all electric boat. motorguides props just don't cut it for me.
  17. Walmart, you wont beat it. i had a 14ft aluminium jonn boat electric only with 2 55lb thrust trolling motors and and one of the biggest everstart battiries walmart had and it would runn it all day 8+ hours and then some with 2 200+ pound guys and lots of gear.
  18. shes already too smart for me...." you know if you saved up half the money you spent on fishing tackle in 6 months, you could have bought a ring 10 times" is something i hear quite often,
  19. I learned a lot from my dad before he passed, although it was mostly live bait fishing from the ages of 4-9 it still helped me learn a lot on how fish behaved. One day i got an itch for those crazy looking fake things at the local tackle shop where dad bought his minnows at, after begging him to buy me a couple i never looked back. I taught myself most of everything i had learned before i found this site, and since i have been reading on this site ( long before i joined) i have honed my skills more and more and am still learning every time i log on.
  20. i too have a pelican kayak, a icon angler X120 I have made an agreement with her that i will buy her a kayak, but i get the next upgrade . i have my eye on a Jackson Big Rig, but at 1400 dollars she might not be too happy about it lol. I won't break the news until after i buy it
  21. It is called a Matzuo shallow seeker, i googled it and there are a few places that have some. i would suggest him buying all he can if he likes them because there does not seem to be a lot left.
  22. Thanks for the tip, a local store has a pelican Castaway 100 on sale for $249 bucks. I'm tempted to go buy it,and since she has never been in a kayak before no big loss if she don't like it.
  23. I'd love to see a pic of the twin spin you have made. I think the idea is great,i can see the problems that could arise with tangling up with the skirt but it may be worth it.
  24. i have used a lot of different spinnerbaits and for me the Walmart Strike King promo spinnerbaits catch just as many fish as the 8 dollar ones from anywhere else........EXCEPT, i love the siebert spinnerbaits, they last a whole lot longer and seem to give me an edge over the others (and they are a heck of a deal).
