  1. Reelfoot lake, Kentucky lake,Percy Preist, Old Hickory (my home lake), Center Hill, Dale Hollow, and multiple rivers are all gonna be on the way. once you get to Gatlinburg you have Douglas lake right up the street for some great fishing, in Gatlinburg there are plenty of trout streams, but closer to pigeon forge is the little pigeon river, which has trout and smallmouth stocked in it, just be sure to check regulations. A lot of the rivers and streams are single hook only no treble hooks and no live bait or scents. Now that thats over with, in Memphis be sure to check out Beale street, and graceland if thats something you are interested in, Nashville has a lot of cool places downtown, and the grand ole opry / opry mills ( which is where Bass Pro is ) is a short trip.In Gatlinburg there is also plenty to do (especially if its your first time) walk the strip and there is surely something you will enjoy.Be sure to eat at the great smokey mountain brewery, good food and live music at night, and good beer made on site. And if you happen to be in gatlinburg the 22nd-24th the song writers festival is going on, a neat event, you get too meet and hear who really writes the famous songs you hear on the radio everyday and its all free. PS when you get off of interstate 40 for gatlinburg LOOK TO YOUR LEFT i almost missed it but there is a pretty cool Bass Pro right off the exit.they carry a lot of things most other Bass Pro Shops do not, for trout and smallmouth.
  2. H2O Pistol minnow, love that thing.
  3. why do i even bother clicking on these threads, off to cry in a corner now......did manage to catch a few small ones so far, nothing more than about 4lbs.
  4. depends on what lake, but usually 1-2 is not great and i leave unsatisfied unless it was under bad conditions. 3-5 is not bad and im happy. on a good day my goal is around 20 for a full day.hoping that most of the 20 are 2.5+lbs. happens a few times a year usually.
  5. how are you storing all those rods on a yak? would love to see how you have it set up, looking at different ideas for mine.
  6. Love my kayaks, actually sold my boat because i didn't use it anymore. For a cheaper kayak as an extra look at pelicans, the newer models track well and make for an easy paddle. i wouldn't go under 12' though.
  7. I use the cheapest mono i have laying around, saves money.
  8. after each trip i organize, i have a bad habit of throwing lures where ever they land to save time on the water. and i also reorganize if i buy some new stuff that i dont have room for, out with what has not been producing in with new stuff to try or something i know works.
  9. personal preference, but i can not eat a bass that i catch, i'm man enough to tell you that i feel bad when i do.However blueguill and crappie better watch out, delicious,no wonder bass love to eat em too!
  10. The thought of what might be looking at my lure at any given time, and trying to trick it into eating it.
  11. I have had expensive sunglasses and lost them, several times,My trusty spiderwire glasses are my favorite. Sure, costas and all the others are better, but for 25 bucks you cant beat the Spiderwire glasses.
  12. Honestly, that battery isn't going to run your trolling motor very long. If i were you i would get a deep cycle Everstart from walmart, cost a little more but worth it. They have one that should run your trolling motor for several hours for around 59 dollars. but if you can swing it, for $100 you can get an everstart maxx that will run it all day.
  13. I use a piranahmaxx 153. gets the job done. depth, drop offs, and brush piles is all i really need on my kayak.
  14. even though a used outboard runs great while testing before you buy, DO NOT run 5 miles down stream on the first trip. lesson learned.
  15. i was crappie fishing with live minnows a year or 2 ago and was getting a wind knot out of my line while my minnow was barley dangling in the water by a rock and a 3lb LM swallowed minnow, hook, sinker and a foot of line lol. Scared the heck out of me, don't normally get blow ups close enough to splash you!
  16. i like a small jointed silver Rapala in the small rivers i fish.
  17. Yea im positive they did last week, i seen them in the store. I just checked my local ad and it has changed so the price may have went back up. Even if that is the price now i would buy it over the Strike and save some money because the icon was 429 last year and the stores prob won't be getting any more of them in, they have already took it off the website.put that extra money towards a good paddle or some accesories.
  18. I have an older model that is the same boat, different name. Some people will tell you they are terrible, i have to disagree. i still have mine, and i still use it on ocassion. Not the most stable boat on the market but sure isn't the worst either, also it is a fast boat and very easy to paddle.here is a good tip for you, call an academy sports if you have one close, ask them if they have a pelican icon 120x angler. its the boat i have and as recently as last week my local academy had a couple left, and it was discounted to 199 bucks. crazy deal.
  19. 12 pound catfish on a weightless fluke, a drum with its eyes gone on a paca craw, and when i was 12 my cousin and I caught the same crappie....at the same time. He ate both baits within a couple of seconds, i'll have to dig up that pic lol.
  20. thanks for the reply, I am in the process of selling some tools and other things i don't use or need. depending on what i can sell i may be able to pull something off, with the amount i have spent on my last two kayaks and a rod or 2 i probally could have already bought a PA. lol.
  21. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, i have not made up my mind yet so all of this helps, i'm hoping to head to Hook1 this weekend to check a few out.
  22. Good to hear that, i do not need the scuppers and while i would love to have a pedal drive i just can't bring myself to shell out the cash right now ( Next step after this though, and when bills get settled down i will have one ). the raised seating is also the main reason i'm leaning towards a hybrid, plus i already have 2 SOTs. Thanks for the info.
  23. I have considered one, my only problem is no one around here carries them. I would really love to check one out, i like the 360 seat.
  24. Thanks for the info, i'm really leaning towards a hybrid now.
  25. Thanks for the advice, i have never had a problem with my current SOT yaks and i have never had a need for the scuppers, the areas i fish are always pretty calm with no chop. One question for you, is getting in and out of the hybrids harder than a SOT? i currently can get in from the bank without wading out, is that possible with the Commander or Ultimate?
