  1. I have had the same problem, i adjusted by watching my lure in the water when i can see it to figure out a more comfortable way. A shorter handle rod and a side sweep works best for me.
  2. In a small creek i fish that runs to the main lake there are thousands ( no joke ) of yellow bass running up and down the creek in schools. I spent 4 hours last weekend after i had no luck with LM trying to catch them with not a single fish to show. I tried a crappie jig with various grubs, tubes, etc on it. tried a beetle spin, inline spinner, 3" grubs. Couldn't buy a bite. anyone have suggestions? i am determined to catch them. it might be fun to take my girlfriend back there and let her catch fish until she doesent want anymore lol. also open to live bait suggestions.
  3. another spiderwire vote here, have had mine for over a year and counting, still going strong.
  4. caught one on a dinger yesterday! only problem was the dinger was bigger than the fish.... and the fish was a crappie hahaha.
  5. if you go with a kayak, for 500ish you can get yourself a decent fishing kayak, but if i were you i would lean more towards a sit on top rather than a sit in. i drive a chevy colorado and have a 12 foot and 10 foot kayak as well as a 10ft bass raider and they all fit in the bed just fine, with the tool box i would get a 10ft sit on top fishing kayak. for around the 500 mark i would look at the pelican icon 100, that would leave room for taxes and a good paddle. i still have the first kayak i bought, it was a pelican icon 120 and i still like it and use it. On a totally opposite note, if you could get the 8ft version of the bass raider back there that would be my choice, i can load and unload my 10ft by myself with ease. If it don't fit....BUY MORE RATCHET STRAPS lol.
  6. i use mine for leader material most of the time, or tie it to a spinnerbait skirt and annoy my cat for a while.
  7. for under 100 i would go with a lews laser speed spool ( my walmart has them for around 55 bucks) and a berkley lightning rod or lightning rod shock.
  8. i second the fluke, i fish a lake that sounds a lot like yours. if im fishing there 90% of the time its a weightless super fluke bc of the vegetation. if i go after bigger fish i switch to a magnum fluke with a nail weight and fish the weed line in about 10ft of water, thats what the fish in my avatar pic was caught on in that lake as well.
  9. too ashamed to show my hat, pretty rough condition. its my favorite "everything" hat, wear it every day. Only reason for not buying a new one is no one within a 500 mile radius of my house sells a hat to fit my fat head and bass pro discontinued the one i wear a few years back. i still check ebay on a regular basis haha.
  10. my experience with ascend SOT kayaks: great seats, very stable, very heavy, and like paddling a barge. They are good quality yaks but i just prefer a faster kayak for the longer runs.Got caught out in 15mph winds and that was enough to make me sell it.
  11. I caught a few today on a foxy shad rogue, water had some stain to it after the rain that we have had and the foxy shad was giving off a nice roll of flash in the stained water.
  12. i considered the Matt lures catfish swimbait. just havent pulled the trigger.
  13. Its near Nashville, just curious about its bass population. I have been there once but it was not ideal fishing conditions, gonna try again sunday.
  14. I tried a 1/2 oz football jig on it the other day and it was TERRIBLE, tip is way to soft for the jigs,it felt like casting a 40lb brick on an UL rod to me. but i did like it for spinnerbaits, some cranks, and light t-rigs.
  15. thanks guys, im gonna try it out with some diffrent baits this week hopefully, it is the new pro speed spool.
  16. I like to catch fish too much to use them, maybe when i get tired of catching i will try them out.
  17. Depends on time of year, but 90% of the time its gonna be a fluke, matched to the water, i like pearl white in the lakes with shad and i like watermelon red in lakes without.I can usually figure out where they are with the fluke, and if they arnt chasing it down to nail it i will switch it up. Slow when its cold and about as fast as i can work it when they are feeding in the shallows, if you wanna see some acrobatics work a fluke on top as fast as you can over submerged grass.
  18. Just picked up a lews speed spool and paired it up with a 6'6" MH lightning rod shock and seaguar 15lb floro , not sure what i'm going to use it for, i'm thinking about making it my t-rig rod. its my first lews reel and i am very impressed with the quality for the price i paid,i am also impressed with the rod shock, it is more than i was expecting for the money. what else would you guys throw on this set up?
  19. thanks guys, im usually a kayak guy but wanted to try something i don't have to paddle for a while, also i am considering puttiing the trolling motor on the front, just need to get the plug or adapter to run the battery in the back
  20. Well nevermind lol pics coming later
  21. Thought I would share my new toy. Bass raider 10e with 40lb min Kota.
  22. Bass pro has a sale in store right now on their brand 3 for 9 dollars. just picked some up earlier
  23. By the title i was hoping to read that Rapala had teamed up with Zoom and made some crazy bait hahaha.
  24. Mitchell advocate, mine is on year 8 now i believe, built like a tank, not sure why i don't own more. Don't have much paint left on it now though haha.
