  1. Either of the boats look good to me. I have a 12 foot vhull almost just like those. i fish 2 people very easily,no problems at all. i have had 3 but its not a comfortable trip if all 3 are fishing. i blew the engine on mine so now the only thing powering it is a minn kota 30lb thrust trolling motor, and believe it or not it pushes the boat just fine. you are not gonna break any speed records but with the walmart brand marine battery i bought 2 years ago i can fish all day long and when i get home still have 85% battery. As for the title i'm no help, but here in tennessee all i needed was a bill of sale, mainly because mine is so old it does not even have a hull ID number. Good luck, and you will not regret your purchase.
  2. thanks for all the tips guys. I think i'm gonna go for the thru-hull mount, just seems less likely to get torn off or damaged during transport or by stumps or rocks.I have been browsing through some different finders and have a question, does it matter what type/shape/size the transducer is to mount it inside the hull?
  3. Thanks for the advice, i want to install a fish/depth finder soon. Nothing fancy just something to get depth, temp, and bottom layout/structure,any advise on where and how to mount the transducer?
  4. After a little research i decided i wanted to get a kayak for myself. I own a small 12 foot jon boat but i wanted something different, that was easier to load, unload, and not worry about a trailer. I decided a kayak was the way to go so i went to my local Academy Sports and sat in a few and despite the bad reviews the Pelican brand had in the past i am convinced that under new ownership and redesigns i would give them a shot. i have never owned a kayak before but i purchased an inexpensive one to see how i liked it. I walked out the door with a Pelican icon 120x angler and the lighest and most sturdy paddle i could find under 100 bucks, total it came out to almost 500 even. I took her straight to a local lake, figured the best way to learn is to hop on in. I was surprised at the ease of use. Tracks perfectly and pretty stable compared to what i was expecting, even landed 4 bass on my first time out in it it 2 hours. Cant wait to get it back out again, anyone have any tips for me? I'm completely new to kayaks and kayak fishing but loving it so far.
  5. I remember my first bass like it was yesterday. I have older parents than most my age, i was about 10 years old and my dad was 55 and was a die-hard Crappie and catfish fisherman but also had a few old (and i mean old) bass lures in his box. i had fished for Crappies and catfish since i was 4 but one morning we were camping and i woke up before anyone and snuck out of the tent and into his tackle box and found an old spinnerbait thats skirt was old, brittle, and falling apart. i tied it on my zebco 33 (which was the only reel he believed worthy enough to use). I made one cast from the bank out near a rock sticking up from the water and reeled it in like i had seen on TV and WHAMMMM just as it passed the rock a 5lb largemouth smashed it and i was in for the fight of my life on the old zebco. i reeled her up on the bank and started yelling for my dad.About a min later i seen him crawling out of the tent with a big smile on his face. i will never forget that fish as long as i live. On another note the most fond memory i have is about 6 months before my dad passed away after being bed ridden for more than 4 years he asked me to take him fishing, i was as excited as ever and that saturday i wheeled him to my truck in his wheelchair and picked him up and into the seat. he was in alot of pain but still as happy as ever to be going fishing. i took him to one of our favorite old Crappie holes and we fished for several hours, as much as he could handle. that was the happiest i think me or him had ever been. I almost tear up just writing about it.
  6. I will throw a weightless fluke and let it sink about 3-4 foot and give it a twitch. The big ones are always hungry for easy target leftovers.
  7. In my local waters i see alot of people keeping bass reguardless of size. It really gets to me, but last year i witnessed a game warden stop a boat and pull out 8-10 under sized bass and i'm assuming they got themselves a hefty fine. I have no problem with the LEGAL keeping of fish, i go catfishing several times a year myself along with some Crappie trips. I honestly don't understand why people want to eat bass, i do not find them very tasty myself, but if its legal its legal.
  8. I'm looking for ponds to fish in my area, northern mid tn. or around Cookeville tn since im there on weekends alot. i mainly fish the lakes but would like to try out some ponds. Anyone know of anything good??
  9. That was the most useful bait video i have seen in a long time.
  10. Thanks for the advice guys, looks like i will try out several different brands in the next few months and see what works best for me. I'm gonna put in an order for some of the Stankxbaitco stick baits and the Big Bite Baits trick sticks since i cant seem to find them locally. If all else fails, i will stick with the Senko. i purchased a couple of bags of the dingers today to test out, watermelon pearl and watermelon red. i'm a bit obsessive when it comes to tackle and try not to out spend my wallet. But at this time every year it happens and i do not see it stopping anytime soon, better just put in those OT hours to support my habit haha.
  11. Just wanting some opinions on what everyone thinks is the best, just now really starting to fish them alot and the Senko is almost double the price of some of the others. If i use them alot like i plan on doing this season, is it worth the cost to get the original?
  12. Either a weightless pearl white super fluke, or a 5" Senko or Yum Dinger, weightless as well.I can catch fish all year long on those baits in my waters.
  13. thanks guys, and it definitely a cool experience at 40 degrees and the mist was enough to seem like a downpour of rain hahaha.
  14. I keep a specific bag of torn up old plastics in my box for wacky rigging, never tried a lizard but looks like from now on they will be going into the bag also hahaha.
  15. Thanks for the info! gonna try this out on my next trip out.
  16. That sounds like an excellent idea. I'm gonna have to try them on a drop shot.
  17. Fishing in a local small river due to the weather not allowing me to get the boat out, i had ran out of options lure-wise. I had tried everything from finesse worms to crankbaits and everything in between. i'm generally a lake fisherman so i'm not used to the whole river thing. Opened up the tackle box and decided to try something i had never tried before (which i thought was a dumb idea, but hey cant do any worse than i am) i rigged up a Tiny Paca Chunk, that i generally use for my jig trailers,on a c-rig. Didn't expect anything more than nothing, but as soon as it settled to the bottom BAM caught a 2lb LM first cast. and then it continued the rest of the day. Never hurts to try something you think won't work!
  18. Love the idea of this, gonna have to pick one up and also like the idea of running the Realistix on it. i haven't tried any type of A-rig because i do not want to worry about gear to handle it. But this sounds like a great alternative.
