  1. Not to discourage you, but i bought a D10T SOT about 5 months ago for my girlfriend. after we went out the first time she was complaining that she couldnt paddle it. I thought it was just bc of her ability so the next day i took it out for myself....that thing is a barge. If you are wanting to paddle any distance (such as the bay you mentioned) i would reconsider,it could be that i am used to a longer kayak but im not sure.On the plus side i ended up selling it for more than i paid for it new. I have paddled several diffrerent yaks and to me even the Pelican SOTs paddle much better.Don't get me wrong the D10T was pretty darn stable, just a pain to make a run more than 100yds.
  2. I prefer alone most of the time.Although it depends on their skill level.Nothing worse than babysitting all day. A few of my friends sometimes want to go "fishing" with me and show up with their Zebco and a bucket of minnows.
  3. Yep, thats the stuff. Odd use for it but it works great.
  4. Duct Seal, and call it a day. easy on easy off. stays in place great. I have had great luck with it, i would at least try it before using any epoxy, about $2 at lowes or home depot.
  5. I was in a small cove on the lake a few weeks ago in my bass raider minding my own business when a bass boat comes into the cove on plane, glides to a stop 20ft from me and proceeds to cast directly where i was fishing. First words out of his mouth "Sorry i'm in a tournament". i proceeded to cast as close to his boat as possible without hitting it and caught a nice bass right out from under his nose before he left without a single fish.
  6. Not sure about birds, but i had 2 bass in the same day last year that ate my fluke about 1-2 inches before it hit the water, both were on long cast that went too high, giving them enough time to see it coming i'm guessing.
  7. In TN i had a jon boat with no title, found a loop hole. i told them it was made in 1960 and didnt have a serial number. she wrote down the serial number as 000000001 and the make as "jon boat" problem solved. check your states requirements and see if older boats are grandfathered in.
  8. wacky rigged trick worms and finesse worms can't be beat at a few places i fish right now.
  9. If you have a truck a bass raider is the way to go, i have went from jon boats to kayaks and now to a bass raider 10e and it is by far the best option.I could stand in my jon boat but it had to be on a tralier and with a trolling motor and me the wind was killer, especially standing up.I love kayaks but i don.t like to stand in them, i deal with alot of bass boats and ski boats blowing past me and the wake is no fun standing on a yak. my bass raider i can walk end to end in wind and waves and not think twice, I started with a 40lb minn kota on the back but it is now on the front and i have a mercury 3.3 on the back, i load it into my truck easily with the TM and outboard still on it, i just take the battery out. sit the front on the tailgate, go to the back and push it in, pretty easy to do. i bought the bass raider, trolling motor and battery all new at academy for $900( they also make a bigfoot switch that lets you turn any TM on or off with your foot). i picked up the 2008 Mercury 3.3 used on craigslist, they can be had for under 500. I would def look into the bass raider if i were you.
  10. My favorite prop bait, its called a Slush Daddy.
  11. Is bowfishing legal there? go have some fun lol. if not a giant treble hook will do the trick, put a worm on it and if anyone ask you are fishing for monster catfish.
  12. Just last week i seen 5 guys back their 17ft fiberglass bass boat up to the water to where only the prop was touching the water. they all got out and man handled the boat into the water scraping it all the way down. ( me and my girlfriend were patiently waiting to load our boat about 30 yards away watching it unfold) they pulled their truck up after 30 mins of fighting it to the water, so nosey me had to stick around to see what happened next. After the last guy parked the truck they were coming back to pick him up, at about 40mph...never took it out of gear, never slowed down, nothing. ran it straight into the bank, they pushed it back in the water and took off. I'm still not sure that they didn't sink 5 mins later, there had to be a hole in the bow after that.
  13. Don't know if it scares them away, but i was fishing a small lake in my kayak a while back when a car pulls up at the boat ramp, opens all the doors, and played don't stop believing on repeat as loud as possible. I lasted through 2 times and left.
  14. if you were to ask me i'd say there are no fish in there lol. If the lake you are fishing has no shad i find that watermelon seed or watermelon red works best, a couple of lakes i fish i can't buy a bite on a white fluke but can catch a fish every other cast on a more "natural-to-the-lake" color.
  15. I take it as the lakes way of telling me the fish are biting weightless plastics lol.
