  1. HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! So, what are your resolutions and hopes for the new year? How did you kick it off? What did you do for the holidays? We wanna hear it all. This is a thread for everything related to the holidays, celebration, and possibilities that a new year brings (or just random, vaguely holiday-related banter) Allon-sy
  2. I do that sometimes to, haha. I know there is not a chance in frozen-over...purgatory, that I'll catch anything, but you have to cure the cabin fever somehow
  3. Well I would think that depends on the properties of the material used, I would think that most commonly used materials degrade too slowly, and the amounts in which they are found too few, to cause much of a problem
  4. Just because the lakes are frozen over doesn't mean that this topic gets to die. There has to be some of those fanatical, lunatic people who sit by a hole in the ice and expose themselves to hypothermia to entertain the bored fish, on this site.
  5. I can't give any personal experience, but the pallet idea certainly looks sound, though adding some random bits of PVC or wood at odd angles inside might make it appear to be even better shelter, plus it would provide more surface area for algae growth
  6. one thing I've wondered is how much of a difference spacing makes. We're all well acquainted with how "something different" attracts bass (e.g. a hole in lilypads, a boulder in a gravel area, etc.) So, I ponder whether putting too many, too close together might be more of a problem (for pinpointing fish) that just one "here and there"
  7. Every Ragetail product in my tacklebox (you all just had to keep giving stellar reviews)
  8. Sorry I've been on hiatus, (final exams/end of semester season) and to answer your question, I don't know. I was too busy having fun and trying to heave them from the water. P.S. wisdom is not only intelligence in the context of many years' experience, it is also a synonym of knowledge. I can tell you however, that it was a good season, (given my fanaticism, it is surprising I'm not hacking at the ice with a pickaxe right now trying to get in "one last bite") despite my having been landlocked, and only capable of bank fishing save for a choice few outings. Oh, one more thing, MAY YOU ALL HAVE A MERRY HOLIDAYS!!!
  9. #1 asset for me when I started fishing..,(nuber 2 was BR. )
  10. If I go, I'll turn 18 halfway through the trip. B-day's on May 2. Sounds like an incredible opportunity, I would love to attend.
  11. Come on, now that's not even fair, how do you keep one up(ing) everyone with your thoughtful responses and insight. How can we compete.
  12. If that is your bass in the pick, then you are far better off so far than most "noobs."
  13. I'd like to add to this that you should read the articles on the home page and look up information on specific lures, (e.g. jigs) with the search bar, and you will find a plethora of information from which to learn. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12401-senko-faq-%C2%A0look-here-first/?hl=%20senko
  14. Welcome man, nice to see someone my age. Not too long ago I was in your spot, especially where my ineptitude with jigs was concerned. I devoted this year to learning to use them, and I've ended up making custom ones and selling them! BTW There is even a forum here for women. Send me a personal message sometime, I'd love to talk. Until then, Ciao.
  15. Same here, first day of ice. But how can I complain when the Whitetail deer are up and moving When one fails, the other is always there for the rebound.
  16. Now i know more of you have some stories, we all fish or hunt here, so lying comes pretty easily
  17. To me, it depends on what they are doing. If they are actively feeding, it seems to excite them, but if they are just suspending, waiting out the middle of the day, it just spooks them. IMO.
  18. It is a sport with no athletes. ha. However, if you're fighting marlin or huge sturgeon, I'm sure you'd consider it exercise.
  19. Hallelujah! Darn good post man. When nothing works I always throw a wildcard bait in some strange color, and oftentimes it works!
  20. Sadistic man!!! Would be a neat situation though. If they let fans send suggestions, the show would be even gorier.
  21. If I believed myself to know everything, I would not devote my time researching the behavior and biology of predators, bass included. Yes, it is an ongoing challenge, seeing the world through eyes of bass, but some things we know already, such as their color perception. However, I do appreciate the manner in which you have approached topics.
  22. Any predictions for Daryl? I don't see him searching for her, but I do see him being ticked and standoffish for quite a while
  23. The "we" was a grammatical error. However, my major in college will be wildlife biology with a specialization in predatorial behavior, and as such would one day love to study the animal I devote so much time to chasing.
