  1. I can tell you their softness runs true in the spinning rods as well. The shakey head rod I bought has a parabolic action which makes it more than able to pull drop shot duty. These rods were obviously made with braid in mind. The softer action sure helps prevent you pulling the bait away. For the price, they are light sensitive and look awesome IMO. However, the action needs to be taken into account when buying them so you don't feel dissapointed
  2. My all purpose cranking rod and used for all your stated purposes as well as larger jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and chatterbaita etc.
  3. Own the jig and topwater...best grips and crazy sensitive for the price... The topwater is too stiff for its specified application IMO bbbbbbut it makes a great spinnerbaits, chatterbait and plastics Rod..
  4. I believe he was saying this is a mini review ergo short, not that the mb was named mini...
  5. New lews custom speed stick...I've been slowly acquiring more and they are fantastic rods. The hm85 are on clearance at TW and are crazy good.
  6. I just picked up the 8.5:1 and I'm impressed as well. The only thing I prefer is the matte finish of the TP or super duty as opposed to the gloss of these. Other than they, it's great
  7. There have been several threads regarding duckett rods. Usually they are in threads about budget priced rods in the 100-160 range. They do have a large following
  8. As much as I love braid. I love fluoro just as much. However, I can totally understand people who run straight braid for everything and just add leaders as it really does make things simpler. Maybe it's a confidence thing, but the abrasion resistance fluoro gives me makes me a lot more confident to throw stuff into rocks and wood
  9. This..the new custom speed sticks are amazing. Light, sensitive, comfortable and BALANCED which is a huge plus. I got 4 of them now. If you want a slop and frog HEAVY duty Rod, try the 7'4 mag heavy pitching Rod.
  10. I didn't like it because I found build up wouldn't blow out as easily like the old oval zillion line guideZ. Fishing gunk and frogs left me constantly clearing my line. Also, leaders would constantly catch.. Not saying it doesn't work, just isn't my cup of tea
  11. I believe he was banned over something so he can't.
  12. I have 3 of them now. The spinnerbait, mag MH and topwater. These rods are legit. Light, BALANCED, powerful and sensitive. Hybrid acs reel seat to open blank which I love compared to the normal acs seat.
  13. Luke (iabass) posted pics from his tatula and both where grooved from regular use. Not saying it's a huge problem, but it has happened.
  14. I may have such a problem. Considering I have had stuff custom painted to match lol. But I still like using stuff that doesnt match and just works. Can I say I have some of both side of the argument?
  15. Jr., regular or super? Super spooks, I throw them on my champ 734. Heavy action Rod because those baita are BIG and the 734 has an action which can compensate for the treble hookks. Regular and Jr., I've thrown on a number of rods but I prefer a 6'8 to 7ft mh moderate to moderate fast Rod. I tend towards 30lb braid and add a mono leader if necessary.
  16. See I think suffix siege is the cats meow for suppleness. That line is amazing
  17. everything I have read about this line is that it breaks off and has all the issues you stated. I love shooter and sniper but when it comes to moving bait applications I stick with invizx
  18. I have always thrown flukes on casting gear as I usually throw super flukes which, with a 4/0 hook weigh more than enough with 12-14lb Fluoro. I tend to prefer a 7ft mh or shorter with a fast tip. Probably the best fluke Rod I had was a champion 683. Reel is preferably fast. This year I'm gonna be trying out an NRX 843 mag bass Rod and see how it goes.
  19. I have used the 734 for treble baits in a pinch and it did fine. The 735 is a beast so I assume the drag would have to be backed off a bit. The soft tip might be good for big jerkbaits and lipless baits that are in heavy grass but other than those I would be worried.
  20. If owning nice gear makes me stupid then consider me an idiot lol. I have two extremes, some really nice stuff and some average beater gear. They both catch fish but i certainly enjoy using my nicer gear when I can.
  21. The 734 champ is my most beloved Rod. It can do almost anything (and has for me, including shallow cranking and spooks). Dobyns has some very unique actions from their 734 to the DX 701/702 and 742 casting rods. What's even better is they are ALWAYS expanding their lineup to meet the demands of their customers. Simple examples are the expansion of choice between full or split grip, increasingly heavy powered crankbait/swimbait rods, and the DX 683 which came after Gary said he would never have an under 7ft Rod in the dx line. Customers spoke, he listened. Beyond that, you won't get better customer service anywhere.
  22. Sunline shooter is as tough as they come.
  23. i understand the sideplate issue but the prodigy has a metal star drag, higher drag rating and the 4 bearing handle which offers some good upgrades as opposed to the exceler and even lexa. I own 2 lexas, 2 excelers and now a prodigy and for $70 they are a steal
  24. They are snug but i didn't want to risk them jarring loose on a boat ride so I wrapped the entire end in black electricAl tape just to be safe
  25. I'm gonna go with a cabelas prodigy. It's basically a lexa with a 4 bearing handle and is on sale for $69. Also the cabelas prodigy which is an all aluminum (frame and sideplates) reel on sale for $100
