  1. I believe the new trilene fluoro is exclusively for spinning reels and doesn't go over 12lb test. Berkely 100% Fluoro is still the same and available just packaged differently ala XL AND XT mono.
  2. I sold my tatula because of that width up front and the jutting brake dial which on the zillion is recessed. I Wrap my pointer finger around the front of the reel and it is exactly where the difference is biggest. Got a t3 and it is much better for how I palm a reel. The zaion feels different but so does magnesium and I don't feel they are under powered in any way shape or form.
  3. From an interview "Gary says, “I throw most of my jerkbaits on a 704. Some I throw on a 705. If you are throwing a Pointer 128, you’re going to want a 705. A Pointer 100 can go either way. A 704 is a little light for it but it’s great for a 705. The StaySee 90, I think that 704 rod is tailor made for it. The Megabass Vision 110 with the 704, personally I love that combination; it has caught me so many fish lately it’s just unbelievable. If I am throwing the Vision 110 MAGNUM, then I like the 705. Those are pretty much the baits that I’ve been throwing lately – the Megabass and the Lucky Craft. They’re all just phenomenal baits.”
  4. Maybe I am not good enough to really notice. With the braid I still feel like every snap is crisp and to the point. The graphite helps too. It's a very fine balance between a rod with a good amount of give but a line with no stretch. The rod has enough bend to keep them pinned and can snap a cast out there.
  5. I use the champ 684c for smaller jerkbaits and poppers. If I need to go heavier or bigger, I have the 705cb. I use braid on the 684cb for add alittle snap to the softer rod and add a fluoro or mono leader when necessary. They are releasing a 6'3 version for topwater and jerkbaits of people like even shorter rods.
  6. This is true, but when you are used to the D series, you can see why there was major outrage when the Chronarch E was introduced. The topic has been discussed Ad Nauseam so I won't go further. By most accounts, the ci4 chronarch has brought some oomph back to the chronarch line. Keep that D close and don't let go lol
  7. The front part of the reel was very wide and the brake dial isn't recessed like the zillion...I didn't even cast it because I didn't like how it palmed. The brake dial rubbed against my finger. I palm with my pointer finger along the side of the reel so the extra wideness in front and jutting brake dial were just comfortable for me
  8. Got mine ready and raring to go after I sold my tatula
  9. I love high end stuff but I agree an extra forum isn't necessary. Generally it's pretty easy to work some of that talk into the general forum.
  10. I have one and it is amazing. A true gem. Prefer it to my cores which I sold off
  11. Apparently they are being discontinued
  12. White color...straight handle with eva foam....has generation 2 Abu stx/winch drag star. Honestly to me it looks like a generation 2 revo
  13. Once he got dropped by Abu/berkely before last year he mentioned doing this. It really is amazing how many rod company's are coming out with reels to match their rods. Halo, 13, duckett etc
  14. The ml is also a great Carolina rig rod
  15. Pit boss, grass pig as a swim jig trailer, sub woofer, juice work on a football jig head... Pit boss is my fav though
  16. Six dobyns dx Five dobyns champions One custom One 2 piece zillion I had made after usps broke it. I find it easier to stick with a brand cause you know how they are made. One company's mh might be another company's h... It's just easier
  17. A heavier trig would mean the 704dx IMO. I use the 703 for light stuff and flukes...it's more a medium action than a mh
  18. I apologize...I must have been on a bender or something but for some reason I saw tatsu and thought shooter. All of my comments were based on sunline shooter lol.... Regarding tatsu, I have heard nothing but good things about the line except maybe the price lol. Disregard my previous stuff..
  19. Dobyns champion 736 and zillion type r here.... The savvy 735 and a high speed reel would be perfect. A lews speed spool would do just fine.
  20. Dobyns savvy 735c with discount would work. Or a veritas 7'6 mh for about 100....
  21. Shooter is stiffer and more abrasion resistant. That generally doesn't work well in spinning gear. Sniper is smoother and softer. And though lower on the scale than shooter is still a heck of a deal. Quoted from TT "Spinning Gear: The only version of this product I managed to try on spinning gear was the 10lb test. This was on several reels with 2000 sized spools and the results were not good. The stiffness that did not bother me with casting gear approaches nightmare status with spinning gear. I'm sure a lighter pound test or even a wider spool would handle better, but admittedly, fluorocarbon on spinning gear is just not something of which I'm fond. I much prefer to rely on a finesse baitcaster if at all possible." Granted, I'm sure it's doable, but sunline makes fluoros specifically for finesse stuff which would give you less headaches instead of having to use kvd line and a wide spool and tightly wound line and.....see what I mean?
  22. I would suggest sniper for spinning tackle...even low lb test in shooter is very hard to handle...
  23. The big complaint was the cage blocking the brakes on the xs 1000 which meant you couldn't do anything if a break came off. They later got rid of the break cage. Also, it was a magnesium reel but weighed a lot which negates the reason for magnesium
  24. I get that it's hard to make a budget reel here, but that was their whole platform. They intended to keep up with the big guys while staying in America. To produce reels overseas undermines their entire reason for being different. Furthermore, if those reels are quality, then all they have done is undermined their own products which are made in america and don't have the most stellar of reputations. I honestly just think it's a company coming to grips with the reality of the marketplace.
  25. The only ardent I owned was sent to me broken. I sent it in and they kinda fixed it but kept the original box and paperwork lol. If your main platform is American made, it seem strange to me that you would release a line of reels for the budget minded angler NOT made in America. Although maybe now that they are not made in America they might be okay lol..
