  1. They are looking like an excellent rod for the price. Daiwa really went balls the wall at this price point. They are not playing around. If they are like the zillions though, they will be very stiff for their rating
  2. Especially when the same technique can have many different rod types and actions. Heck, the quantum tactical series has two flipping sticks with totally different actions. Same technique used by two different guys two different ways.
  3. The trend of "corrosive resistant" ie plastic replacements of previously metal parts
  4. I honestly believe it is a skill, not a sport. Yes it can be competitive, but just like poker, it is not a sport to me.
  5. Ha! I actually never had a problem with vanish 14lb. When I first joined forums I couldn't believe the hatred. I will sparingly recommend it. Sniper is the way to go IMO with tatsu or shooter for the highest of the highs
  6. The problem is when you watch the shows you will see guys using gear they aren't sponsored for like these that I have noticed. 1. Brent ehler using a steez flipping stick in MLF 2. Terry Scriggins using a steez flippin stick and gloomis Carolina rig rod. 3. Rick Clunn using a daiwa lexa last year in Texas 4. Bobby lane using a st croix rod in the last bass tournament of the year. Furthermore, when guys switch, they retroactively praise the company like "I've been using so and so rods for years and they are great". Wait a minute, three years ago you weren't sponsored by the new company so how were you using their product AND your previous sponsors? So tread carefully when reading gear from a pro
  7. And you won't be disappointed.
  8. Problem is I don't have outdoor channel so extended cast is the only way for me to view it. To have it spoiled beforehand kinda sucks but I'll deal. Still a great program though
  9. Lol okay pm sent
  10. T3 not only cause of the deal but when you get more money you can upgrade it quite easily to make it even better. Rod wise you have a ton of options and will get every one of them here lol
  11. Right now it is a combo frog/flipping rod. Dobyns champion 736 with a zillion type r and 65 Pp braid. Plan is to upgrade to DX 746 as soon as possible to take over this duty. I mostly pitch, not flip so I don't need a crazy long rod. Also, when frogging I need to work the frog which sometimes requires a tip down presentation. The dx will help with sensitivity and weight too.
  12. This year it became the pad crasher. I've never had as much action on a frog as the brown one. It outfished my koppers literally 5:1. I think that the smaller size just allowed the fish to inhale the bait better and it caught both large and small. Open water or light weeds, it's booyah. If the weeds are heavy or really thick, I use a koppers because the weight creates a bigger profile when dragging over heavy weeds. The lighter pad crasher doesn't have the weight to present the fish under heavy weeds with something they can follow.
  13. Gonna have to go with the Berkely Havoc Pit Boss as my go to for sure. I like the strike king rodent jr for a smaller profile option. The pit boss is my go to bait for trigs, jig trailers and almost anything else.
  14. I wish I had bought quality first. Instead of slowly working my way up from cheap to medium to higher prices stuff, I should have just bought the better stuff first.
  15. Ummmmmm a zillion which came out in 2007. I just bought a tdz type r that's from 2002. Rod wise, a dobyns champ extreme. Lol as you can see I got into fishing abit later than most.
  16. It has a huge diameter compared to other lines. It can only be an improvement over the original which was the worst fluoro I have ever used. That is including the vanish fluoro from berkley. It was springy to the point of un usable when pitching.
  17. For the deeper stuff you are gonna want a mh with a moderate action. Usually these baits are bigger and definitely pull harder and a mh will help with those.
  18. Oh I assumed the conquest and calcutta where two different lines. I thought they were updating both of them
  19. I have a 7ft for shallow and medium. Deep stuff gets a 7'6
  20. Ha but the bearing placement makes the reel smooth! It confuses me as well lol
  21. Maybe the calcutta d got enough backlash because of the braking system that they decided to scrap it
  22. Saw on another thread it was the storm twitch stick
  23. I assume he is sponsored for hard baits with live target and plastics with SK. Same thing as Edwin Evers who uses megabass hard baits and zoom (used to be yum) plastics.
  24. P-line Fluoroclear is a fluorocarbon coated line. It is not a true fluorocarbon. That is why it is easier to handle and cast.
