  1. Tighten the screw on the opposite side?
  2. They also apparently released ghost rods with regular guides as well
  3. Regarding the microwave guides, carrot stix, enigma, and lews and now a Fitzgerald line have now incorporated them. winn grips are on lews, castaway, kistler, and hammer rods that I can keep track of.
  4. Microwave guides and Winn grips are the new rage apparently as several companies are now offering them. I love lews stuff but man they are expanding the lineup to a point where even a guy who is ocd is having trouble with keeping up. Factor in all the store exclusive versions and it's even crazier. My tackle shop has 79.99 platinum speed sticks which are awesome but aren't even on the website and wre the same price as the new Mach 2 rods. That and now they have serious overlap on several reels and rods. The Tournament Lite, Super Duty and New custom speed spool are all $179.99. The Mach 1 speed spool is more than regular speed spool but has a graphite frame as opposed to aluminum. Now they have the Mach 2 which is just a different frame. Confused much
  5. The Zayta series was an unfortunate victim of pure fishing buying the 3m powerlux resin. Dobyns is fanatical about balance, tapers and weight and just when they were about to go into production, pure fishing pulled a coup and purchased exclusive rights to said resin. Larger companies like loomis and St croix have the finances and r&d to create their own resin on their high end rods whereas Dobyns unfortunately would have gone back to the drawing board. As far as I can tell, the idea was scrapped and focus was turned towards expanding the current lines. That is why you keep seeing new models in the various lineups as it expands to fit wants of the fisherman.
  6. I read that the savvy is staying in the micro guide form. The fury is a great rod an many say better than the savvy so I'm excited over what the Sierra will bring
  7. I actually prefer the 300 over the 360 I owned for all of a week. The 300 doesn't seem bad but I wouldn't pay full retail. I got it with a free rod and $50 off lol
  8. If the weight you are talking is 3/4 plus the lure then you are pushing the limits of a medium heavy. furthermore, a glass rod has a lot of give and bend which in my opinion isn't really what you want for a large exposed single hook. I would honestly be throwing that lure on a heavy rod with a fast action at least.
  9. I believe it's basically an okuma Helios minus the carbon handle. For that price it's a steal
  10. I think Abu got focused on the weight eduction for the third generation Revos. They are so wide compared to other reels also. I have a few I got for crazy good deals though. My biggest peeve? The dang 80mm handle lol
  11. Of all quantum reels, the smoke has one of the best reps out there. The recent *** article on hackney winning mentions him using a "Smoke 200 HD" as his flipping reel. It has gold highlights and I assume will fill the slot of the exo 200 etc. just figured I would pass on the info
  12. Is it bad to say I just have multiple combos? I have some reels with spare spools but have never used them honestly
  13. The xts are awesome:. I figured they were just re hashes of the old lexa rod series but they are crazy light. Picked up a mhf and glass cranking rod mh. Both are solid rods and much better than I expected
  14. I've owned several of the old version and the only one which truly felt heavy and unbalanced and not worry the money was the frog rod. That thing was heavy, tip heavy and a broomstick. The plastics and cranking rod were a good buy. I can only assume the upgrade rod is even better
  15. Dobyns Fury 735 Tatula XT or Lews tournament MB in a high gear ratio
  16. Nice! I wish you have caught them on a spinnerbait though lol
  17. Dobyns fury 735 Ardent Denny Brauer 7'5 mh flipping Cabelas ZX frog rod
  18. I was lucky to hit the cabelas in Delaware and got the last one which they price matched off the website AND got 15% off cause it was the display model. It pays to be informed and know what you are looking for. Means you can pick up good deals when stuff goes on clearance.
  19. I go 30-40lb braid...fell it lets me better control the action when I work the bait. When I'm popping it, or going above or through grass, braid helps immensely
  20. Curados have a reputation for a reason. The g seems to be the only hiccup as of late but is still a solid reel. That being said, I have a citica E with e7 gears and carbontex. It's a tank, true to its reputation. I just purchased a d series Curado because they also have a rep for being tanks.
  21. Dobyns fury or champ 705cb. Lew's custom speed stick wart special or trap caster. Abu Ike delay series so many options in that price range that you literally have about 100 option lol
  22. Dare I ask what the differences are? The 13 metanium is a sweet reel
